The interface may feel busy to passive investors

What makes Tiger Brokers different?

Tiger Brokers is a Singapore brokerage for investors who want local and overseas markets in one account. The 2026 app updates added improved futures order handling, faster access to fundamental data and expanded Tiger AI analysis.

The main reason to use Tiger Brokers is the combination of market access and research tools in one account. Singapore clients can trade US, Singapore, Hong Kong, Australian and eligible China A-share markets, along with options, futures and funds. Tiger Trade also goes further than a basic investing app. For US equities, it offers up to 40 levels of bid and ask data, more than 39 technical indicators, company analysis and stock filters.

That is useful for someone who follows positions actively. A passive investor buying one ETF each month may use very little of it.

Tiger Trade is the main attraction

The software is available across mobile and desktop and acts as the centre of the brokerage. Quotes, charts, screening, news, company fundamentals and order entry all sit in the same environment.

Recent versions have kept adding features rather than simply maintaining the original app. The 2026 updates include improved futures order handling, faster access to fundamental data and expanded Tiger AI analysis.

The interface can feel busy at first. But unlike some platforms where complexity exists without additional capability, most of Tiger Trade's density comes from genuinely having a lot of information available.

How much does Tiger Brokers cost?

For Singapore clients, standard US stock and ETF pricing includes two Tiger charges:

Settlement and any applicable regulatory fees are added to that amount. Looking only at the commission gives an incomplete view of the cost.

Fractional US share trades use a different structure. Trades below one full share have no commission, but the platform fee is 1% of the trade value, capped at $1. SGX-listed stocks, ETFs and REITs carry a 0.03% commission, subject to an SGD 0.99 minimum, plus a 0.03% platform fee, subject to an SGD 1 minimum. SGX trading and clearing fees are charged separately. The custody fee is currently waived.

The pricing is competitive for ordinary retail orders, but the total transaction cost matters more than the commission rate alone. Holding SGX and overseas positions in one account is also useful for Singapore investors who use both markets.

US trading, options and futures

Tiger supports 24/5 trading across more than 9,500 eligible US stocks and ETFs. This includes overnight, pre-market, regular and post-market sessions. That schedule is useful from Singapore, where normal US market hours take place late at night. Investors can respond to some earnings announcements without staying awake for the New York session.

Overnight trading has a limitation: spreads can be wider and liquidity can be thinner than during regular market hours. Access to an extra session does not mean every session offers equally good execution.

US options are one of the stronger parts of the platform. Under the current fixed-fee promotion, brokerage and platform charges total $0.65 per contract: Exchange, OCC and regulatory charges can still apply. The Singapore product supports multi-leg strategies with up to four legs.

Tiger Trade supports more than 100 futures contracts across US equity indices, Treasuries, metals, energy, agriculture and digital assets. Supported exchanges include CME, CBOT, SGX and Eurex.

An E-mini S&P 500 contract carries a $1.99 commission plus a $1 platform fee, before exchange and regulatory charges. Micro contracts can cost less. This gives the account more room than an app limited to stocks and ETFs. An investor can begin with equities and later trade index or commodity futures without opening an account with another service.

Minimum deposit and margin

Singapore accounts have no standard deposit minimum. Tiger's deposit FAQ states that there is no minimum or maximum threshold, although promotional rewards may require a particular funding amount.

Fractional US shares also reduce the amount needed to begin investing.

The lack of a deposit minimum does not mean that margin, options and futures require no capital. Each product has separate eligibility rules and collateral requirements. Margin accounts can offer up to 4x leverage, but the amount available depends on the security and its margin requirement. Four times is a maximum, not a standard amount available for every position. Higher-risk securities can use considerably more margin.

Anyone using leverage should check the live financing rate and the maintenance requirement for the specific position. Those details matter more than the headline maximum.

Is Tiger Brokers safe?

The relevant entity for Singapore clients is Tiger Brokers (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., which is licensed and regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore.

Client cash and assets are held separately from the firm's own assets through segregated trust and custodian arrangements. The protection and custody structure depends on the market being traded. US securities are cleared through TradeUP Securities and held through the Depository Trust Company. Hong Kong positions use the local CCASS structure. Singapore securities are held through the relevant CDP nominee arrangement.

Tiger states that eligible US securities receive applicable SIPC protection of up to $500,000 through the US custody structure. That does not mean every asset in the account has the same protection. Different markets use different custody and protection arrangements.

Who is Tiger Brokers best for?

Tiger Brokers is best suited to a Singapore-based investor who actively follows Asian and US markets. The account makes more sense if you use deeper quotes, options, futures or extended-hours trading.

It is also a good fit for someone who wants SGX positions, US stocks and derivatives in one app. A passive investor who only needs to buy a few ETFs may get less value from the extra tools.

The biggest weakness is fee complexity. A transaction can include commission, platform charges, settlement costs and regulatory fees. Promotional pricing adds another variable because the rate shown to a new user may not be the long-term standard price. The interface can also feel crowded. For someone holding three ETFs, market depth, futures tools, options features, news and community functions may create more noise than value.

Tiger Brokers also does not have one global fee and protection structure. It operates through different regulated entities, and available products, pricing and investor protection depend on where the customer lives. A review that applies one country's fees to every customer is misleading.
