A Symbol column is required but was not found

When Rize Trade cannot find a symbol for your trades, the import fails with a missing-column or missing-symbol message.

What you will see

• Missing Required Columns — check broker selection or export settings.
• Missing Stock Symbol — every trade needs a symbol, such as AAPL or TSLA.
• Missing Required Data — every trade needs at least Symbol, Date, Time, Quantity, Price and Buy/Sell type.

For Custom CSV, required columns are Date/Time, Symbol, Side, Quantity and Price. Header names are matched flexibly, so qty works for Quantity.

How to fix it

1. Open your CSV in a spreadsheet and confirm the first row is a header row with a symbol or ticker column.
2. If the column uses an unrecognized name, rename the header to Symbol, Ticker or Symb, then save as CSV again.
3. Check every trade row. Each one needs a symbol value. Fill any blanks before you re-import.
4. Start the import again and confirm you selected the correct broker, or Use Custom CSV if you are using your own layout.
5. Upload the fixed file, then confirm status and trade count under Settings > Import History.

If you are reshaping a broker export yourself, keep all five Custom CSV columns present so you do not hit the next missing-column error on the same file.

CUSIP-only rows (Lightspeed)

On Lightspeed imports, rows that only contain a CUSIP are skipped rather than treated as tickers. Use the ticker symbol where you can, or import those fills with Custom CSV.

Wrong broker selected

The export may be valid for a different broker, so signature checks fail and you may see Wrong File Format or Wrong File Type. Re-run the import with the matching broker, or choose Use Custom CSV.
