Is Success Trader good for day trading?

Success Trader is a good fit for experienced US equity day traders who want DAS Trader Pro, direct routing and short-locate support. As of **, the opening requirement is $50,000**, which puts the account outside reach of many smaller retail traders.

Success Trader is built around DAS Trader Pro, Level 2, hotkeys and direct market access rather than a simplified browser platform. Traders can route orders through exchanges, smart routers, institutional destinations and liquidity-seeking routes, including Nasdaq, ARCA, IEX, Instinet, CODA and ClearPool.

That setup gives experienced traders more control over speed, liquidity and rebate costs. For a scalper making repeated entries, fractions of a cent can add up. Success Trader's appeal depends less on a simple commission headline and more on how well its routing and execution tools match your strategy.

Short selling is one of the strongest reasons to consider it

Success Trader's locate setup is one of its main points of difference. The brokerage advertises 13 built-in sources for hard-to-borrow inventory, with the locate window opening at 4:00am Eastern. Inventory continues to build toward the regular-session open.

If the automated feed does not return enough shares, or the quoted terms are unattractive, the brokerage says its desk can contact providers and try to source the position manually. That matters to traders in volatile small caps, where a missing locate can prevent an entire trade.

Success Trader also offers an SSR route through Alternative Execution Group for short sales in securities subject to short-sale restrictions. The route uses immediate-or-cancel orders. Pricing starts at $0.01 per share for stocks below $5 and increases with the stock price.

A 5,000-share order at $0.01 per share costs $50 in routing charges before the locate fee or any other applicable cost. The route can be useful in the right situation, but its availability does not make it economical for every trade.

DAS Trader Pro is the core platform

Success Trader uses DAS Trader Pro for desktop trading and DAS Mobile for iOS and Android. Both connect to the same direct-access routing system.

The desktop platform includes: DAS is a sensible choice for the intended audience. Many active US equity traders already know the platform, so changing brokers does not require rebuilding existing hotkeys and screen layouts.

DAS Mobile is more useful for monitoring positions and managing trades away from the desk than as a reason to choose the account. Traders who prefer Sterling, Lightspeed Trader or another terminal will need to decide whether DAS is an acceptable trade-off.

How much does Success Trader cost?

Success Trader's pricing page displays $0.0000 per share for stocks and ETFs between zero and five million monthly shares. Options are listed at $0 per contract plus a $2.99 ticket charge.

That display does not mean every execution is free. Route charges still apply, and the pricing page includes examples with a separate commission component when it explains net execution costs. Confirm the live commission arrangement directly before funding the account.

Route charges and rebates can have a larger effect than the headline commission. Some destinations charge for removing liquidity, while others provide credits for adding it. The published table lists CODA NYSE ARCA with a maximum $0.0022 per share credit for adding liquidity and a $0.0035 per share charge for taking liquidity.

That does not make it sensible to wait at a poor price just to collect a rebate. At higher monthly volume, though, route selection is part of the cost calculation.

The account has to open at $50,000 and stay above $25,000, so the bottom tier here is the floor of the product rather than a starting point most clients pass through.

What is the Success Trader minimum deposit?

The current opening requirement is $50,000, and after opening the account must remain above $25,000.

That is a house requirement, not something to frame around the old PDT narrative. The brokerage has explicitly said it intends to maintain a higher bar while competitors reduce account thresholds following the regulatory changes.

Whether that trade-off is worthwhile depends on what you expect from the desk.

Is Success Trader legit?

Yes. Success Trader is a DBA of Regal Securities, Inc., a registered US broker-dealer and a FINRA and SIPC member. Accounts are cleared through Hilltop Securities, Inc.

Standard SIPC protection can cover eligible assets up to $500,000, including up to $250,000 for qualifying cash claims. Success Trader states that Hilltop also carries excess coverage with an aggregate limit of $200 million through a Lloyd's of London syndicate.

That protection concerns brokerage custody and failure. It does not cover a losing short, poor execution or ordinary market losses. Support is more important for this type of account than it is for a long-term investing platform. Live phone and chat support run from 7:00am to 7:00pm Eastern. Locate access begins at 4:00am, with additional coverage available on a best-efforts basis.

The firm positions its support around routes, borrows, short sales and execution rather than general account-service questions. A rejected route or missing locate can affect a trade immediately, so real user experience with the desk matters.

Who is Success Trader best for?

Success Trader makes the most sense for well-capitalised equity day traders who already know how to use DAS and direct routing. Short sellers are probably the strongest fit: the 4:00am locate window, multiple inventory sources and ability to involve a human desk when automated sourcing fails give short-biased strategies a clear reason to investigate. Scalpers also benefit from the route selection and rebate structure.

The $50,000 opening requirement is the obvious barrier. Even experienced traders may reasonably decide that allocating that much capital to one brokerage is unnecessary.

Pricing also requires attention. The headline commission display is unusually aggressive, but routes, regulatory charges, data and hard-to-borrow fees still create a real cost stack.

There is also only one serious desktop ecosystem: DAS. That is a strength if you already use it and a limitation if your preferred workflow is Sterling, Lightspeed Trader or another terminal. And locate depth should be tested rather than assumed. Thirteen sources and manual sourcing sound strong, but the result that matters is price and availability on your watchlist.
