Which is the better fit?

Consider Tradeify

Tradeify is a real operating futures prop trading business, and for most traders considering the firm, the Select Evaluation is its strongest account option. Tradeify combines one-time account pricing, no activation fees, end-of-day trailing drawdown and a 90/10 profit split at the simulated funded stage. The main catches are its detailed payout rules, the fact that most “funded” accounts initially use simulated rather than live capital, and a drawdown floor that is updated at the end of the day but enforced in real time.

Consider Topstep

Topstep is one of the better futures prop firms for disciplined intraday traders, particularly if you value an established operator, a relatively straightforward evaluation and a genuine route from simulated funding to a Live Funded Account. The main drawbacks are its Maximum Loss Limit, strict intraday-only trading, payout conditions and a TopstepX-centric platform setup.

Which should you fund?

Tradeify is the better overall choice for experienced futures traders who want one-time pricing, more funding options, broader platform support and more flexible payout structures. Topstep is the better choice if you prioritise an established track record, a simpler programme, a more forgiving evaluation consistency target and stronger economics once you reach live trading.

For most traders choosing between the two in September 2026, I would pick Tradeify Select or Growth over Topstep unless Topstep's longer operating history or TopstepX ecosystem is specifically important to you.

There is one major exception. If you are confident you can pass a Topstep Trading Combine within your first billing cycle, Topstep's No Activation Fee route can be cheaper than Tradeify.

Live progression Tradeify Elite Topstep Live Funded Account Depends on priorities

Current pricing, profit splits and programme structures are taken from the firms' September 2026 documentation.

What is the biggest difference between Tradeify and Topstep?

Tradeify currently has three main routes:

  1. Growth Evaluation: lower-cost evaluation that can be passed quickly, including potentially in one trading day.
  2. Select Evaluation: requires greater consistency during evaluation but gives you a choice between Flex and Daily payout structures after passing.
  3. Lightning Funded: skips the evaluation and places you directly into a simulated funded account.

Lightning is worth clarifying. Tradeify Lightning is a simulated funded account, not an immediate live brokerage account trading Tradeify's real capital. The attraction is that you can begin trading towards payouts without first passing an evaluation.

Topstep's standard programme is more linear:

Trading Combine → Express Funded Account → possible Live Funded Account

The Trading Combine is simulated. After passing, the trader receives an Express Funded Account, also known as an XFA, where simulated trading can generate real payouts. Consistent XFA performance can eventually result in Topstep's Risk Team moving the trader into a Live Funded Account using real capital.

Is Tradeify or Topstep cheaper?

This distinction gets butchered on a lot of comparison pages because comparing "$49 Topstep vs $145 Tradeify" ignores Topstep's monthly billing and potential activation fee.

Here is what the cost looks like using current list pricing.

$150K $369 $369 $348 $229

*Topstep Standard figure includes the current $149 Express Funded Account activation fee.

If you can pass during the first subscription period, Topstep's No Activation Fee route is the cheapest of these options at all three standard account sizes.

$50K $145 $247 $190
$100K $255 $347 $298
$150K $369 $547 $458

At that point, Tradeify becomes cheaper across all three sizes.

That is the real pricing decision.

If you are a proven evaluation trader who normally passes quickly, Topstep's subscription model is not automatically a disadvantage. If evaluations regularly take you multiple months, Tradeify's one-time pricing removes an accumulating cost that has nothing to do with your eventual payout.

Tradeify also currently charges no activation fee when a Growth or Select evaluation is passed.

Which is easier to pass: Tradeify or Topstep?

At the common $50K, $100K and $150K levels, both firms use familiar profit targets:

$50K

Tradeify profit target
$3,000
Topstep profit target
$3,000

$100K

Tradeify profit target
$6,000
Topstep profit target

$50K $3,000 $3,000
$100K $6,000 $6,000
$150K $9,000 $9,000

The difference is what you have to do while earning that profit.

Tradeify Growth

Tradeify Growth can be passed in as little as one trading day. Growth uses a Daily Loss Limit during evaluation but does not force the multi-day consistency requirement used by Select.

That makes Growth attractive to traders who occasionally have very strong sessions and do not want a winning day to delay their pass.

Tradeify Select

Tradeify Select applies a 40% evaluation consistency requirement. A single day's profit cannot represent more than 40% of total profit when you qualify, which normally creates a minimum three-day path.

A 50% consistency add-on is also available at purchase, potentially reducing the minimum to two trading days. Select has no Daily Loss Limit during the standard evaluation.

Topstep Trading Combine

Topstep applies a 50% consistency target during the Trading Combine.

For a $50K account with a $3,000 target, Topstep recommends keeping the best day below $1,500. If the best day exceeds the consistency threshold, the effective profit required to pass increases rather than immediately failing the account.

So there is no universal winner.

Choose Tradeify Growth if speed matters most. Choose Topstep if you want a relatively forgiving consistency-based evaluation. Choose Tradeify Select if you are willing to trade more consistently during evaluation in exchange for better funded-account options afterward.

Tradeify vs Topstep drawdown rules

For Topstep's standard Trading Combine:

Account Maximum Loss Limit
$50K $2,000
$100K $3,000
$150K $4,500

Topstep's Maximum Loss Limit rises based on the end-of-day account balance but is monitored against real-time net P&L. Touching the loss floor intraday can therefore trigger liquidation even if the end-of-day calculation itself only trails after the session.

Tradeify Growth currently provides:

Account Growth max drawdown
$50K $2,000
$100K $3,500
$150K $5,000

Tradeify Growth therefore gives $500 more nominal drawdown than Topstep at the $100K and $150K levels, although Growth also introduces a Daily Loss Limit.

Tradeify Select uses $2,000 on the $50K evaluation, $3,000 on $100K and $4,500 on $150K, putting it broadly in line with Topstep at those sizes.

The practical lesson is that you should compare specific account products, not firm-wide percentages. "Tradeify drawdown vs Topstep drawdown" does not have one accurate answer.

Which has better payouts, Tradeify or Topstep?

Tradeify Select lets a trader choose between two funded payout models after passing.

Tradeify Select Flex

Select Flex currently offers:

  • payout eligibility after five qualifying winning days
  • no funded consistency rule
  • no Daily Loss Limit
  • 90/10 simulated funded profit split
  • withdrawal of up to 50% of eligible profits, subject to account-specific caps

For accounts purchased after 1 September 2026, current Select Flex caps are $2,500 on a $50K account, $3,500 on $100K and $4,500 on $150K.

Tradeify Select Daily

Select Daily provides daily payout eligibility but uses tighter risk controls, including a buffer and Daily Loss Limit.

For current accounts, the structure prioritises smaller, more frequent withdrawals rather than maximising each individual payout.

Topstep Express Funded Account

Topstep now offers two XFA payout routes.

Topstep Standard requires five winning days of at least $150.

Current standard payout caps are:

  • $2,000 on $50K
  • $3,000 on $100K
  • $5,000 on $150K

Topstep Consistency requires at least three trading days and a 40% consistency target.

Current Consistency payout caps rise to:

  • $3,000 on $50K
  • $4,000 on $100K
  • $6,000 on $150K

Both use a current 90/10 split.

This makes the comparison more interesting than "Tradeify has faster payouts".

Tradeify wins on payout choice and potential frequency. Topstep is competitive or better when the objective is extracting a larger amount per request.

Topstep has the stronger live-account profit split

This is one of the biggest differences that shorter Tradeify vs Topstep comparisons miss.

Tradeify simulated funded accounts currently use a 90/10 split, but traders moved into the current Tradeify Elite Live programme receive 80% of trading profits, with 20% going to Tradeify.

Topstep's current payout policy uses a 90/10 split, including its Live Funded Account structure. Topstep Live accounts also remove the XFA payout caps once the relevant live-account conditions are met.

If your actual objective is not merely getting a first prop payout but developing into a profitable live-funded trader, Topstep's 90/10 live economics are materially better than Tradeify Elite's 80/20 split.

Which has the better route to a real live funded account?

Tradeify traders become eligible to be considered for Elite Live after either:

  • three payouts on one account, or
  • ten total payouts since the previous live transition across eligible accounts.

Hitting those thresholds does not guarantee a Tradeify Elite account. Tradeify evaluates consistency, risk management and trading behaviour before making the transition. Eligible traders can ultimately hold multiple Elite Live accounts.

Topstep also uses a discretionary Risk Team review.

Topstep states explicitly that moving from an Express Funded Account into a Live Funded Account is not automatic and does not require a fixed number of payouts. Consistency, risk management, position sizing, payout history and broader account behaviour can all influence the decision.

Topstep launched its trader funding programme in 2012, giving it a substantially longer operating history than most futures prop firms.

For pure confidence in the live-funding pathway, Topstep gets the edge. For traders interested in potentially operating several live accounts with fewer daily restrictions, Tradeify Elite is more interesting.

Tradeify offers considerably more platform choice

Tradeify supports different broker and platform combinations.

Tradovate credentials can provide access to platforms including:

  • Tradovate
  • NinjaTrader
  • TradingView

Rithmic supports options including:

  • Tradesea
  • Quantower
  • Sierra Chart
  • R|Trader

Tradeify also supports WealthCharts.

Topstep's ecosystem is centred around TopstepX, its own trading platform. TopstepX includes integrated charting, risk controls, trade copying, performance tracking and other trader-specific tools. Quantower can also connect using TopstepX credentials for Trading Combine and XFA accounts.

TopstepX is a legitimate advantage if you like an integrated proprietary platform.

It is a disadvantage if your workflow is already built around NinjaTrader, TradingView, Sierra Chart or another specific execution environment.

Very short-term scalpers should read Tradeify's rules carefully

One Tradeify rule matters disproportionately to traders taking very short-duration futures trades.

On funded Tradeify accounts, payout eligibility requires:

  • more than 50% of trades to last longer than 10 seconds, and
  • more than 50% of profit to come from trades held longer than 10 seconds.

Failing this test does not automatically terminate the account, but it can prevent a payout request. The rule does not apply during the evaluation stage.

For traders regularly entering and exiting within a few seconds, that rule could outweigh Tradeify's other advantages.

Both firms also restrict abusive or high-frequency automated strategies, so algorithmic traders should check the current automation rules rather than assuming a strategy permitted at another prop firm will be accepted.

Tradeify vs Topstep for different types of trader

Choose Tradeify if you:

  • dislike recurring evaluation subscriptions
  • regularly need more than one month to pass evaluations
  • want Tradeify Lightning and the ability to skip an evaluation
  • want NinjaTrader, TradingView, Tradovate, Rithmic, Sierra Chart or broader platform choice
  • want daily payout eligibility through Select Daily
  • want to choose your funded payout model after passing Select
  • want a $25K account or additional account-size options
  • value flexibility more than the longest possible operating history

Tradeify Select is probably the best all-round Tradeify product for a disciplined trader. Tradeify Growth makes more sense if passing quickly matters more than funded-stage flexibility.

Choose Topstep if you:

  • expect to pass within your first subscription cycle
  • want the lowest possible initial cost
  • prefer a 50% evaluation consistency target
  • value Topstep's operating history
  • want the TopstepX ecosystem
  • care about higher XFA payout caps
  • care about keeping a 90/10 split after reaching live trading
  • want a highly structured route from evaluation to simulated funding and eventually real capital

Topstep makes the most sense for traders who see the simulated funded stage as a route to a long-term live account rather than simply a mechanism for extracting frequent prop payouts.

Is Tradeify better than Topstep?

If forced to choose one for the average experienced futures prop trader in 2026, I would choose Tradeify because there are more ways to structure the account around the trader rather than forcing the trader into one programme.

That advantage disappears if reaching and retaining a live account is the primary objective. At that point, Topstep's longer operating history and current 90/10 live payout split become much more important.

Is Tradeify cheaper than Topstep?

Tradeify charges one-time fees on its current account range. Topstep's standard Trading Combine is subscription-based. Comparing only the advertised entry prices therefore gives a misleading answer.

Does Tradeify or Topstep have easier rules?

Tradeify Select becomes more attractive after passing because its funded account can remove the consistency requirement entirely depending on the selected payout path.

Final verdict: Tradeify or Topstep?

Tradeify wins the overall comparison because its one-time pricing, three funding routes, platform choice and payout options give an experienced trader more control over how they tackle the prop model.

Topstep does not lose because its programme is worse. It loses because it is more prescriptive.

But Topstep wins several categories that matter more as you progress: a longer operating history, a generous 50% evaluation consistency target, competitive XFA payout caps and a 90/10 live profit split compared with Tradeify Elite's 80/20.

So the decision is fairly simple:

For flexibility and extracting payouts: Tradeify.

For structure, longevity and the eventual live account: Topstep.
