Which is the better fit?
Consider Breakout
Breakout makes the most sense for disciplined crypto traders who already have a repeatable strategy and want more trading capital without depositing the equivalent amount themselves. The 1-Step Classic plan is the strongest all-round option if passing probability matters more than getting the cheapest evaluation fee.
Consider E8 Markets
E8 Markets is a credible established simulated trading provider, but you should choose the account based on its payout mechanics rather than the headline account size or “up to 100%” profit split.

Which should you fund?
Breakout is the better choice for most crypto-focused traders who want simple rules, static drawdown and unrestricted on-demand payouts. E8 Markets is the better choice if you want more markets, more trading platforms, forex or futures access, or the ability to customise your evaluation.
If choosing one purely for crypto prop trading, Breakout gets the overall verdict. Its funded programme has fewer moving parts: no consistency rule, no minimum trading days, no time limit, no news-trading restriction, static maximum drawdown and payouts available 24/7 once eligible. Breakout was also acquired by Kraken in September 2025.
E8 Markets is the stronger all-round trading ecosystem. E8 offers forex, crypto/perpetuals and futures products, advertises access to 250+ markets, and supports platforms including MetaTrader 5, TradeLocker, cTrader and MatchTrader, depending on the product and trader's jurisdiction. Its trade-off is complexity: E8 One, E8 Pro, E8 Signature and E8 Zero have materially different drawdown and payout rules.

Why Breakout wins for crypto traders
Breakout currently offers three 1-step evaluations:
- 1-Step Turbo: 9% profit target, 3% maximum daily loss and 3% static maximum drawdown.
- 1-Step Pro: 12% profit target, 3% maximum daily loss and 5% static maximum drawdown.
- 1-Step Classic: 10% profit target, 3% maximum daily loss and 6% static maximum drawdown.
That static drawdown matters. Breakout's maximum drawdown floor does not trail upwards as the account makes money. A $100,000 Classic account has a $94,000 maximum drawdown level and that level remains at $94,000.
The daily loss calculation is separate. Breakout recalculates the 3% daily equity limit from the account balance at 00:30 UTC, while the total maximum drawdown remains static.
Breakout also removes several rules that often become payout friction at other prop firms. There is no minimum number of trading days, no evaluation deadline, no consistency rule and no restriction on trading during news events.
For a profitable but lumpy crypto trader, that is a meaningful advantage. You do not have to dilute one unusually good trading day merely to satisfy a Best Day percentage before withdrawing.
Where E8 Markets is better than Breakout
E8 is not one evaluation with one ruleset. It is an ecosystem of different products.
E8 One
E8 One is the customisable option. Traders can alter variables such as account size, drawdown and payout percentage at checkout. E8 currently offers E8 One account sizes ranging from $5,000 to $500,000, with preset pricing starting at $48 before promotions.
A current $100,000 E8 One preset displayed by E8 uses a 9% challenge profit target, 6% dynamic drawdown, 4% daily drawdown and an 80% payout configuration. The performance stage applies a 40% Best Day rule. E8's configuration means those figures should not be treated as universal E8 One rules.
E8 Pro
E8 Pro is designed around static drawdown and frequent payouts. E8 states that traders can request payouts daily once the minimum profit requirement has been reached, with no payout caps or consistency rule.
The catch is the payout mechanism. E8 Pro divides profits so that 50% becomes requestable and 50% stays in the account as a drawdown buffer. The selected 80% to 100% payout percentage is then applied to the requestable half. E8 Pro also currently applies a 2% daily profit cap.
E8 Signature
E8 Signature is positioned as the lower-cost, more structured route. It uses a 35% Best Day rule during the performance stage and requires a drawdown buffer before payouts can begin. Payouts are also capped by account size and payout number.
For example, E8 currently caps the first payout on a $100,000 Signature account at $2,250, increasing the cap over later payout cycles.
This is exactly why comparing "E8 Markets rules" against Breakout without naming the E8 product is misleading.
Which has better drawdown rules: Breakout or E8 Markets?
All current Breakout 1-step evaluations use static total drawdown. The only question is how much room you buy: 3% with Turbo, 5% with Pro or 6% with Classic.
E8 Markets uses several drawdown models. E8 One can use dynamic drawdown, E8 Pro uses static drawdown, and E8 Signature uses an end-of-day dynamic structure.
For traders who hate trailing risk limits, Breakout or E8 Pro are the obvious candidates.
For traders willing to accept dynamic drawdown in return for greater customisation elsewhere, E8 One becomes more competitive.
Do not compare the headline drawdown percentages alone. A 6% static floor and a 6% dynamic floor are not economically equivalent because one stays put while the other can move as profits accumulate.
Which has better payout rules?
Breakout's standard profit split is 80/20. Traders can pay extra at checkout for a permanent 90/10 split. The 90% option cannot be added later.
Once a Breakout account has withdrawable profit, payouts can be requested on demand, 24/7. The minimum payout is $50 after the profit split, and Breakout pays in USDC on Ethereum. There is no required payout cycle or consistency threshold.
E8 Markets can offer a larger percentage of headline profits, with selected products allowing traders to configure an 80%, 90% or 100% payout share. However, the percentage alone does not tell you how quickly that money is actually withdrawable.
E8 One and E8 Signature use Best Day requirements for on-demand payouts. E8 states that the earliest payout can effectively occur after three days because of the maths required to satisfy those rules. E8 Pro and E8 Zero instead offer daily payout structures with their own conditions.
So if the question is "Which advertises the highest possible split?", E8 wins.
If the question is "Which makes profitable trading easier to turn into an immediate withdrawal?", Breakout wins.
Breakout vs E8 Markets pricing
Current non-promotional prices show why.
For a $100,000 account, Breakout has published prices of approximately $330 for Turbo, $545 for Pro and $800 for Classic.
E8's published preset prices list a $100,000 E8 One at $488, E8 Pro at $488 and E8 Signature at $260 before product-specific discounts or configuration changes.
That means E8 can actually be cheaper at the same headline account size, despite comparison sites sometimes labelling Breakout as the cheaper firm based on entry-level promotional prices.
But nominal capital is not enough to judge value.
A $100,000 account with a 3% maximum loss budget gives the trader $3,000 of total room. A $100,000 account with a 6% maximum loss budget gives $6,000. The second account effectively provides twice as much loss capacity even though both say "$100K" on the checkout page.
Price the usable risk budget, not the marketing account balance.
Which firm offers more markets and better platforms?
E8 currently advertises more than 250 markets across forex, crypto, stocks, commodities, indices and futures. Its platform ecosystem includes MetaTrader 5, TradeLocker, MatchTrader and cTrader, with platform availability varying by product and jurisdiction.
Breakout currently advertises 63 markets, including BTC, ETH and SOL alongside selected traditional-market exposures such as the Nasdaq 100, S&P 500, WTI crude oil and silver. Trading takes place through Breakout's proprietary environment.
That makes the decision straightforward.
Choose E8 Markets if an existing MT5, cTrader, TradeLocker or MatchTrader workflow matters to you, or if you regularly trade forex and futures.
Choose Breakout if crypto is your primary market and you are comfortable using Breakout Terminal.
Breakout vs E8 Markets for news, overnight and weekend traders
Breakout permits news-event trading and weekend holding, while its crypto-native trading environment operates around the clock outside maintenance or service interruptions.
E8's answer depends on the programme.
For example, E8 One currently permits unrestricted news trading during the challenge but prohibits opening, closing or modifying trades around specified high-impact news events during the performance stage.
E8 Pro Crypto currently allows news trading in both the challenge and performance stages.
Again, the correct comparison is not "Breakout rules versus E8 rules". It is Breakout versus the specific E8 product you plan to buy.
Is Breakout safer or more trustworthy than E8 Markets?
Kraken publicly confirms that it acquired Breakout and integrated the prop trading platform with Kraken's broader infrastructure.
Breakout currently says it has paid more than $60 million to traders and publishes a monthly payout leaderboard. E8 Markets says it has paid more than $77 million and displays a live payout feed on its website. Those figures are company-reported and should not be treated as independently audited financial statements.
There is also an important distinction between the marketing term "funded" and the actual account structure.
E8 explicitly states that its E8 Trader Accounts operate in a simulated trading environment.
Breakout markets access to funded trading capital, but its current programme rules also state that trading account balances consist entirely of simulated capital and that users do not deposit their own assets.
In other words, do not buy either programme because you assume your displayed account balance is the same thing as depositing capital into a conventional brokerage account. The commercial product is the evaluation, trading environment and contractual right to performance-based payouts.
Who should choose Breakout?
Choose Breakout if most of these describe you:
- Crypto is your main market.
- You want static maximum drawdown.
- You dislike consistency and Best Day rules.
- You want the possibility of withdrawing after one profitable trading session.
- You trade around news.
- You hold positions overnight or over weekends.
- You prefer a short rulebook over dozens of configurable parameters.
- A Kraken-owned prop trading business gives you more confidence than an independent prop firm.
Breakout's main weakness is choice. Traders who need MetaTrader 5, forex, a large futures catalogue or extensive account customisation will find E8 Markets substantially broader.
Who should choose E8 Markets?
Choose E8 Markets if most of these describe you:
- You trade forex, futures, indices or multiple asset classes.
- You need MT5, cTrader, TradeLocker or MatchTrader.
- You want account sizes above Breakout's $200,000 purchase ceiling.
- You value an optional 100% payout share.
- You want to customise the relationship between price, drawdown and payout percentage.
- You prefer choosing between static, dynamic and other programme structures rather than accepting one house model.
- You are comfortable reading the rules of your exact E8 programme before trading.
E8's main weakness is complexity. "E8 Markets" is not one ruleset. A trader moving from E8 One to E8 Pro or E8 Signature can face materially different drawdown, payout, Best Day and profit-cap mechanics.
Breakout vs E8 Markets: final verdict
If I had to choose one for a trader whose primary goal is simply to pass, trade profitably and withdraw crypto profits with as little rule friction as possible, I would choose Breakout.
The reason is not that Breakout advertises the biggest account or highest profit split. It does not.
The reason is that Breakout removes more ways for an otherwise profitable trader to fail operationally. Static maximum drawdown, no consistency rule, no minimum trading days, no evaluation deadline, unrestricted news trading and genuinely on-demand payouts form a cleaner ruleset.
E8 Markets is the better choice when trading flexibility means market and platform flexibility rather than rule simplicity. Its broader instrument range, multiple trading platforms, larger available account sizes and configurable programmes give traders substantially more choice.
The decision is therefore simple:
Crypto + simple rules: Breakout.
Forex, futures, more platforms or more customisation: E8 Markets.
