Overview

Weltrade is a legitimate, established CFD and forex broker with competitive account conditions, MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 support, copy trading and unusually high leverage. However, it would not be our first choice for traders whose main priority is strong regulatory protection.

The reason is simple. Weltrade SA (PTY) Ltd is licensed in South Africa as an FSCA Category I financial intermediary, but the company states that the actual CFD trading services and trading counterparty are provided by Weltrade Ltd, a Saint Lucia-registered company that is not regulated by the FSCA. That distinction matters considerably when assessing the protection attached to your trading funds.

For experienced traders who understand this structure, want MetaTrader, high leverage and low entry requirements, Weltrade may be worth considering. For traders who prioritise a directly regulated trading counterparty, investor compensation arrangements and stronger regulatory recourse, there are safer choices.

Main weaknessActual CFD counterparty is not directly regulated by the FSCA

Weltrade says it began operating in 2006 and has more than one million registered traders. Those figures show the size and age the company claims for its business, but neither figure replaces regulatory protection.

Is Weltrade legit or a scam?

Weltrade is an established brokerage business with identifiable companies, legal documentation and a functioning trading platform. We found insufficient evidence to classify it as a scam.

The main concern is the structure of its regulatory protection.

  • Weltrade Ltd, an International Business Company registered in Saint Lucia under registration number 2023-00055.
  • Weltrade SA (PTY) Ltd, a South African company operating as a Category I financial intermediary under FSCA FSP licence number 50691.
  • Danoa Enterprises LTD, a Cyprus-registered company acting as a payment agent.

Weltrade's corporate structure includes: Weltrade states that Weltrade SA does not issue the financial products, execute trades or act as the trading counterparty.

Those services are provided by Weltrade Ltd in Saint Lucia. Weltrade also states that Weltrade Ltd is not regulated by the FSCA and that the protections applying to Weltrade Ltd can differ from those applying to a South African financial intermediary.

For that reason, calling Weltrade simply an "FSCA-regulated broker" would leave out an important part of the structure.

How safe is Weltrade regulation?

Weltrade SA's FSCA authorisation provides regulatory oversight over its intermediary activities in South Africa. The FSCA itself provides a public database for checking authorised Financial Services Providers.

However, according to Weltrade's own documentation:

> Your trading account is opened with Weltrade Ltd in Saint Lucia, and Weltrade Ltd provides the trading execution, instruments and leverage.

Weltrade further states that the FAIS Ombud's jurisdiction applies to complaints about Weltrade SA's intermediary services, not Weltrade Ltd's underlying trading services.

For us, this is the most important fact in the entire Weltrade review.

A licence attached to an intermediary is not equivalent to having the entity holding your trading relationship directly supervised by that regulator.

Is money safe with Weltrade?

Weltrade says client money is kept separate from the company's operating funds through accounts maintained by payment providers used by the product supplier.

The company also acknowledges that segregation does not remove counterparty or insolvency risk linked to the product supplier.

Weltrade states that the FSCA does not provide deposit insurance or a trading-fund compensation scheme for this arrangement.

The structure can be summarised in three points:

  • Does Weltrade operate a real brokerage business? Yes.
  • Is part of the Weltrade structure subject to FSCA oversight? Yes.
  • Is the company acting as your CFD trading counterparty itself regulated by the FSCA? No, according to Weltrade's own disclosure.

We would therefore be more cautious about keeping a large balance with Weltrade than with a broker whose trading counterparty is directly supervised by a stronger regulator.

Weltrade account types and minimum deposits

Weltrade offers several account structures designed for different trading strategies. Availability varies by country, and Weltrade's own regional documentation does not always display exactly the same account lineup.

The following conditions were advertised in Weltrade's current account documentation:

These are advertised minimum conditions rather than guaranteed trading costs. Floating spreads can widen according to market conditions. Account availability can also differ by jurisdiction.

There is another detail worth knowing. One Weltrade regional support page states that payment-system restrictions effectively impose a $10 minimum transaction amount, even though individual accounts may advertise a $1 account minimum.

So “Weltrade minimum deposit is $1” is technically incomplete. A $1 account threshold does not necessarily mean your available payment method will let you deposit only $1.

Advertised starting spread at $10 per pip on a standard lot, plus commission. Raw Spread is left out because its commission is instrument-dependent and not published as a single figure.

Which Weltrade account is best?

The Pro account looks like the strongest general-purpose Weltrade account for most active traders.

It currently advertises:

  • $10 account minimum
  • floating spreads from 0.5 pips
  • leverage up to 1:2000
  • no separate Weltrade trading commission
  • forex, metals, commodities, stocks and indices

Weltrade describes the Pro account as intended for experienced and active traders.

For higher-frequency strategies where raw pricing matters more, the Raw Spread account may make more sense. It uses MT5, advertises spreads from 0.01 pips and charges a separate commission that varies by instrument.

The SyntX account is substantially more aggressive. It offers synthetic instruments and fixed leverage of 1:10000. That amount of leverage can destroy an inadequately managed account extremely quickly and is not something we would treat as a benefit for inexperienced traders.

What can you trade on Weltrade?

Weltrade offers CFDs and related instruments across several asset classes, depending on the account and jurisdiction.

Available markets include:

  • major, minor and exotic forex pairs
  • gold and silver
  • commodities and energy markets
  • global stock indices
  • stock CFDs
  • cryptocurrencies
  • synthetic indices and SyntX instruments

Weltrade's documentation lists examples such as EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY, gold, silver, Nasdaq-linked indices, S&P 500-linked instruments and Dow Jones-linked instruments.

Product availability changes by account and country. Check the instrument list inside the trading platform before opening a position.

Weltrade MT4 and MT5 platforms

Weltrade supports MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5. MT5 is the more suitable choice for traders who want broader market access and newer platform functions.

MetaTrader 5 supports:

  • Expert Advisors
  • automated trading
  • multi-asset trading
  • advanced charting
  • market depth
  • additional order types
  • strategy testing
  • desktop and mobile trading

Weltrade also supports MT4 for relevant account types and provides web-based MetaTrader access.

For algorithmic trading, scalping and multi-asset trading, we would choose MT5 over MT4.

Weltrade has also moved its copy-trading system towards MT5. New MT4 strategies stopped being accepted from October 2025, although existing subscriptions could continue.

Does Weltrade offer copy trading?

Yes. Weltrade operates a copy-trading system where users can allocate funds to strategies provided by other traders.

Users can set allocation controls, choose strategy providers and apply profit or loss thresholds to copied strategies. Providers can charge performance or subscription fees under their chosen settings.

Copy trading remains exposed to the provider's strategy, leverage, drawdown and execution. It is not the same as passive investing or professional portfolio management.

Past performance does not guarantee future returns.

Weltrade deposits and withdrawals

Weltrade supports a mix of:

  • local payment methods
  • e-wallets
  • cryptocurrencies
  • bank transfers where available
  • P2P payments in selected countries

Weltrade advertises more than 30 payment options globally. The options available to an individual trader depend on their country.

How long do Weltrade withdrawals take?

Weltrade says withdrawal requests are processed 24/7 and that many requests are handled on the same day.

The final arrival time depends on the payment provider, verification status and withdrawal method.

Weltrade's withdrawal documentation currently states that bank-card withdrawals are unavailable. Customers are directed towards alternatives such as e-wallets, cryptocurrencies and supported local methods.

Withdrawals normally need to use the same payment method and currency used for the original deposit, subject to exceptions such as cryptocurrency. Full KYC may be required before withdrawals are enabled.

Does Weltrade charge withdrawal fees?

Weltrade's general documentation says it does not charge an internal withdrawal fee. Payment providers and blockchain networks may still charge their own fees.

A separate Weltrade support document says e-wallet withdrawal fees can depend on the selected e-wallet.

The practical conclusion is simple: check the live payment screen before withdrawing. We would not describe all Weltrade withdrawals as free.

What do Weltrade customer reviews say?

Public reviews are mixed, and the current Trustpilot situation deserves attention.

At the time of checking, Trustpilot displayed more than 1,700 Weltrade reviews but had made the company's overall rating unavailable because of a breach of Trustpilot's guidelines.

Recent negative reviews include allegations involving:

  • delayed withdrawals
  • deposits not appearing promptly
  • account restrictions
  • disagreements about trading execution
  • profits being removed following compliance or trading-rule investigations
  • difficulty obtaining satisfactory explanations from support

Weltrade has publicly responded to many of these complaints.

These reviews should not automatically be treated as proof that the allegations are true. Online broker reviews are particularly vulnerable to fake reviews, recovery scams, affiliate manipulation and complaints from traders who have breached platform terms.

However, repeated complaints around withdrawals and account restrictions are still a legitimate risk signal and should not simply be ignored.

A sensible approach is to verify your account completely, read the trading and bonus terms, start with a modest balance, make an early test withdrawal and only increase exposure once you have personally validated the payment process.

Weltrade bonuses and promotions

Weltrade offers deposit bonuses and promotional schemes in supported jurisdictions.

Its Welcome Bonus applies to eligible new clients making their first deposit, with different minimum funding requirements depending on the account. For example, the Pro account can be opened with $10, but Weltrade says at least $100 is required to activate the first-deposit bonus on a Pro account.

Do not choose a broker because of a deposit bonus.

Bonus capital can come with trading-volume, spread or withdrawal conditions. Weltrade itself notes that bonus removal and profit-withdrawal requirements can apply under promotional terms.

The spread, execution quality, withdrawal reliability and legal counterparty are considerably more important than promotional credit.

Weltrade pros and cons

Weltrade advantages

  • Operating history dating back to 2006, according to the company
  • MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5
  • Demo trading
  • Pro spreads advertised from 0.5 pips
  • Raw Spread account available
  • Very low account-entry thresholds
  • High leverage for experienced traders
  • Forex, metals, indices, commodities, stocks, crypto and synthetic markets
  • Copy trading
  • Local and cryptocurrency payment options
  • 24/7 support

Weltrade disadvantages

  • Weltrade Ltd in Saint Lucia is the actual CFD trading counterparty
  • Weltrade Ltd is not regulated by the FSCA
  • FSCA protection relates to the South African intermediary rather than the actual product supplier
  • No FSCA deposit compensation scheme for trading funds
  • Extremely high leverage substantially increases risk
  • Bank-card withdrawals are currently unavailable according to Weltrade support
  • Public withdrawal and account-restriction complaints should be considered
  • Trustpilot currently withholds Weltrade's overall rating because of a guideline breach
  • Some account and fee information varies between Weltrade's regional documentation

Who should consider Weltrade?

Weltrade is most suitable for an experienced trader who understands offshore CFD counterparty risk and wants flexible account types, MetaTrader, copy trading, synthetic markets or high leverage.

It may fit if you:

  • live in a supported jurisdiction
  • already understand leveraged CFD trading
  • prefer MT4 or MT5
  • want to run Expert Advisors
  • want low initial capital requirements
  • are comfortable limiting the amount of capital held with the broker

Who should avoid Weltrade?

Traders who place regulatory protection first should look elsewhere.

Weltrade may also be a poor fit if you:

  • are a complete beginner attracted primarily by 1:2000 or 1:10000 leverage
  • want your CFD counterparty directly supervised by a major regulator
  • require a formal investor compensation scheme
  • intend to maintain a very large trading balance
  • live in a restricted jurisdiction

Weltrade lists the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, European Union member states, Russia, Belarus, India, Iran and North Korea among its restricted markets, along with other territories.

Final verdict: is Weltrade worth using?

Weltrade is a credible trading platform with attractive conditions, but we would classify it as a higher-risk broker choice rather than a first-choice broker for maximum fund protection.

The trading proposition is competitive. Weltrade provides MT4 and MT5, low minimum account requirements, spreads from 0.5 pips on Pro accounts, a Raw Spread option, copy trading, multiple CFD markets and exceptionally high leverage.

The regulatory proposition is less convincing.

Weltrade SA has an FSCA intermediary licence, but Weltrade's own documentation confirms that Weltrade Ltd in Saint Lucia is the company providing the CFDs and acting as the trading counterparty. Weltrade Ltd is not regulated by the FSCA.

That does not make Weltrade a scam. It does mean the regulatory protection is materially different from what a casual reading of “FSCA licensed” might suggest.

Our call: Weltrade can make sense for experienced, risk-aware traders who specifically want its trading conditions. If safety and regulatory recourse come before leverage, bonuses and low deposits, choose a broker where the entity actually holding your trading relationship is directly supervised by a strong regulator.

Frequently asked questions about Weltrade

Is Weltrade a regulated broker?

Weltrade SA (PTY) Ltd operates as a Category I financial intermediary under South African FSCA FSP licence number 50691. However, Weltrade states that CFD trading services are provided by Weltrade Ltd in Saint Lucia and that Weltrade Ltd is not regulated by the FSCA.

Is Weltrade a scam?

There is not enough verified evidence to classify Weltrade as a scam. It is an established brokerage business with identifiable corporate entities and published legal documentation. However, its regulatory structure provides less protection than brokers whose trading counterparties are directly regulated by stronger financial authorities.

What is the Weltrade minimum deposit?

Weltrade advertises account minimums starting from $1 for some account types, while the Pro account starts at $10 and the Raw Spread account at $100. Payment providers and regional restrictions can impose higher practical minimum transaction amounts.

Does Weltrade support MT4 and MT5?

Yes. Weltrade supports MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5, although MT5 offers broader multi-asset, automated-trading and strategy-testing functionality.

Can you withdraw money from Weltrade?

Weltrade provides withdrawals through supported e-wallets, cryptocurrencies, local payment systems and other methods depending on the user's country. Full verification can be required before withdrawing. Weltrade currently states that bank-card withdrawals are unavailable.

What is the maximum leverage on Weltrade?

Several Weltrade accounts advertise leverage up to 1:2000. The SyntX account advertises fixed leverage of 1:10000. Higher leverage magnifies losses as well as gains and can cause a trading account to lose its capital very rapidly.

Does Weltrade accept US or UK traders?

No. Weltrade currently lists both the United States and United Kingdom among its restricted jurisdictions. EU member states, Canada and several other countries are also excluded.
