What to check first

Confirm regional availability, the regulated entity, leverage limits and rollover costs. Forex and CFD losses can accumulate quickly.

Overview

RoboMarkets is a legitimate regulated brokerage brand, but whether it suits you depends heavily on where you live. EU and EEA clients are served through RoboMarkets Deutschland GmbH, a German firm supervised by BaFin. The international RoboMarkets website currently promotes services through regulated entities in South Africa and the UAE. Products, fees, leverage and investor protections vary between those entities.

For EU and EEA investors who mainly want stocks and ETFs, RoboMarkets offers a €100 minimum deposit, no fixed order fee and advertised trading costs from 0.075% per side. International clients can access a broader range of markets and higher leverage, but the risk is much greater. The international RoboMarkets website currently warns that approximately 71% of retail investors lose money when trading CFDs.

Our verdict: RoboMarkets is worth considering if its pricing, instruments and regional entity fit your needs. It is not an automatic first choice for every investor because the group operates through several legal entities, and much of the older information about the broker is now outdated.

Is RoboMarkets safe and legitimate?

Yes. RoboMarkets is a real brokerage group with regulated operating companies, but you should check the exact legal entity opening your account.

RoboMarkets Deutschland GmbH is supervised by Germany's Federal Financial Supervisory Authority, BaFin, and Deutsche Bundesbank. Its published BaFin register number is 10154068. The German company is also affiliated with the Entschädigungseinrichtung der Wertpapierhandelsunternehmen, or EdW.

RoboMarkets Ltd remains listed in the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission register under CySEC licence 191/13. The licence was originally issued on 30 January 2013.

RoboMarkets' European structure changed in 2024. The company's Cyprus website says its old retail-client conditions apply only to clients registered before 9 September 2024 and became irrelevant from 30 December 2024. New EU and EEA investors should not rely on older reviews that describe the previous Cyprus retail account structure.

The international RoboMarkets website identifies RoboMarkets SA (Pty) Ltd as an authorised South African Financial Services Provider under FSCA number 53105. It also identifies RoboMarkets MENA for Financial Brokerage L.L.C as regulated by the UAE Capital Market Authority.

Before depositing money, check the company name in your client agreement. Customers using different RoboMarkets entities do not necessarily receive the same products or regulatory protection.

What changed at RoboMarkets?

The main change is that RoboMarkets is no longer best understood as one European CFD broker serving all customers through the same setup.

Older reviews often describe five account types, MetaTrader CFD trading, ECN accounts and the former Cyprus retail operation. Some of that information remains indexed online, even though RoboMarkets marks parts of those European trading conditions as archived and no longer relevant after December 2024.

The current RoboMarkets Deutschland homepage focuses on stock and ETF investing. It advertises Prime Stocks, R StocksTrader, TradingView integration, automated strategy tools and fees from 0.075% per side. RoboMarkets Deutschland says its services are available only to residents of EU and EEA countries.

The international RoboMarkets website continues to promote stock and ETF investing alongside leveraged CFD trading. This explains why different RoboMarkets reviews show different account types, leverage limits and platforms. They may be describing different entities.

RoboMarkets fees: how much does it cost?

RoboMarkets fees for EU and EEA investors

RoboMarkets Deutschland currently advertises trading costs from 0.075% per side, with no fixed charge or minimum fee per trade. Account maintenance and market data are advertised as free.

RoboMarkets explains that its stock-trading charge is incorporated into the spread. The company describes an overall 0.15% markup on the instrument value, split into 0.075% on each side of the price.

That makes the cost easier to understand with an example.

If you buy €1,000 of shares and the applicable RoboMarkets markup is 0.075% on the purchase, the broker markup is approximately €0.75. If you later sell €1,000 of shares at the same 0.075% rate, that is another €0.75.

A hypothetical €1,000 buy-and-sell cycle therefore produces roughly €1.50 in RoboMarkets markup, excluding changes in the underlying market spread, currency conversion, taxes or other external costs.

For a €10,000 position, the equivalent calculation is approximately €7.50 on entry and €7.50 on exit.

That percentage-based model can be attractive for smaller trades because there is no fixed minimum order fee. Investors making larger or very frequent transactions should compare the total percentage cost against flat-fee and lower-spread alternatives.

What RoboMarkets' 0.075% markup costs to buy and sell

RoboMarkets Deutschland builds its stock charge into the spread as a 0.15% markup on the instrument value, split 0.075% each side. There is no fixed charge and no minimum per trade, so the cost scales all the way down.

Are RoboMarkets deposits and withdrawals free?

RoboMarkets Deutschland says deposits are free from its side and lists a €100 minimum deposit. Its FAQ says withdrawal requests are generally processed within one working day, although banks and payment providers may charge their own fees or take longer to complete the transfer.

Does zero commission mean RoboMarkets is free?

No. Zero commission does not mean zero trading cost.

The international RoboMarkets Invest account is marketed as having no separate trading commission, but RoboMarkets explicitly states that a markup is incorporated into the market spread. Investors should therefore compare the actual bid and ask prices rather than judging the account solely from the phrase "zero commission".

This distinction is particularly important when comparing RoboMarkets with another zero-commission broker. Two brokers can both charge "zero commission" while producing different total transaction costs through spreads, currency conversion and other charges.

What can you trade with RoboMarkets?

The answer depends on your country and legal entity.

RoboMarkets Deutschland focuses on stocks and provides access to European and US equity markets through Prime Stocks. Its website refers to venues including Xetra, NYSE and Nasdaq.

The international RoboMarkets offering is broader. RoboMarkets advertises more than 12,000 stocks and ETFs across 17 exchanges, including markets in the US, UK, European Union and Switzerland. The international Invest account also supports fractional-share investing.

For CFD traders, the international website advertises CFDs on forex, stocks, ETFs, indices, oil and metals. The Pro account advertises 28 forex pairs along with indices, metals and oil.

Which RoboMarkets trading platforms are available?

RoboMarkets offers several trading platforms, although availability varies by region and account.

European stock investors can use R StocksTrader and its TradingView integration. R StocksTrader includes charting, watchlists, instrument-specific news and a visual strategy builder for creating automated strategies without programming.

The international RoboMarkets operation also promotes its proprietary RoboMarkets platform, MetaTrader and TradingView. Its Pro CFD account uses MetaTrader 5 and includes virtual hosting for trading robots and signals.

RoboMarkets also provides an API for users who want to connect external software or automate trading and investment workflows.

That selection is more relevant to systematic and active traders than to someone looking for a basic mobile investing app.

RoboMarkets leverage and CFD risk

High leverage may appeal to some international traders, but it is also one of the main reasons to treat the CFD offering cautiously.

The international RoboMarkets Pro account advertises leverage of up to 1:500, although the available leverage differs between CFD instruments.

A 1:500 leverage ratio lets a relatively small amount of capital control a much larger market position. Gains can increase quickly, but losses can increase just as quickly.

RoboMarkets' international risk warning says approximately 71% of retail investors lose money when trading CFDs.

If your objective is long-term stock or ETF ownership, you do not need to use the broker's high-leverage CFD products.

How are RoboMarkets client funds protected?

For RoboMarkets Deutschland, the company says customer deposits and withdrawals are handled through escrow accounts separate from the firm's own funds.

RoboMarkets Deutschland is affiliated with Germany's EdW investor-compensation scheme. Under the terms published by RoboMarkets, qualifying liabilities from securities transactions can be covered for 90% of their value, up to a maximum of €20,000 per creditor. Exclusions apply, including rules about the currency of the funds and the type of claim.

This does not mean every euro in every RoboMarkets account is automatically insured for €20,000. Compensation schemes have eligibility rules and apply to specific types of institutional failure.

For its South African and UAE operations, RoboMarkets says client money is held in segregated accounts. The applicable protection depends on the entity with which the customer contracts.

Has RoboMarkets had any regulatory problems?

RoboMarkets has a long regulatory history, but that history includes enforcement action.

In 2023, CySEC announced that RoboMarkets Ltd had failed to comply with rules concerning incentives for retail CFD clients. The issue involved non-monetary rewards, including race tickets and branded merchandise. CySEC ordered the company to stop providing the relevant rewards to retail CFD customers.

That enforcement action does not mean RoboMarkets is an unlicensed or fraudulent broker. RoboMarkets Ltd remains listed by CySEC under licence 191/13. It does mean a serious review should include the regulator's enforcement history rather than presenting "regulated" as the end of the due-diligence process.

RoboMarkets pros and cons

What RoboMarkets does well

  • Regulated operating companies in major jurisdictions
  • EU/EEA operation supervised by BaFin
  • €100 minimum deposit for the current European Prime Stocks account
  • No fixed minimum trading fee on the German stock offering
  • TradingView integration
  • Automated strategy tools
  • API access in the international offering
  • Broad international stock and ETF selection
  • Fractional shares on the international Invest account
  • MetaTrader access for international CFD traders

Where RoboMarkets is weaker

  • The product range varies substantially by jurisdiction
  • Older RoboMarkets pages and third-party reviews can describe obsolete account conditions
  • "Zero commission" still involves spread-based costs
  • Currency conversion can matter when trading foreign securities
  • The multi-entity structure requires more due diligence than a single-market broker
  • International CFD leverage can produce very large losses
  • RoboMarkets is not automatically the cheapest broker for every trading pattern

RoboMarkets customer reviews: what do users say?

Public customer-review data should be treated cautiously.

At the time of this review, RoboMarkets' Trustpilot profile showed a score of 3.6 out of 5 based on 15 reviews. That sample is too small to provide strong evidence either for or against the broker.

TradingView also contains RoboMarkets user feedback, including positive comments and complaints about platform usability and the availability of individual stock symbols.

User reviews can point to issues worth checking, such as withdrawal delays, platform outages or support problems. They should not replace checks of regulation, legal documents and actual account costs.

Who should consider RoboMarkets?

RoboMarkets makes the most sense when you have a specific reason to choose its platform or pricing.

For an EU or EEA investor, the broker may suit you if you want stock and ETF access, TradingView integration, R StocksTrader automation and percentage-based trading fees without a fixed minimum order charge.

For an active trader in an eligible international market, RoboMarkets may suit you if you specifically want MetaTrader, forex and CFD access, algorithmic tools or high leverage.

RoboMarkets is less suitable for someone who wants the simplest possible buy-and-hold investment app, does not need its trading technology or can obtain materially lower total execution costs elsewhere.

RoboMarkets vs other brokers

RoboMarkets should not be compared with competitors on commission alone.

A useful broker comparison should include:

Decision factorWhat to compare
RegulationLegal entity and regulator serving your country
Share dealingReal shares or CFDs
Trading costCommission plus spread plus FX conversion
ETF accessNumber and type of ETFs actually available
MarketsExchanges and countries supported
PlatformWeb, mobile, TradingView, MetaTrader or proprietary software
AutomationAPI, strategy builders and algorithmic trading
FundingDeposit methods, withdrawal limits and processing
Investor protectionApplicable compensation and safeguarding arrangements
TaxReporting and local tax treatment

For many investors, established alternatives such as Interactive Brokers, XTB, Trading 212 or eToro will also appear on the shortlist. Which broker wins depends on the investor's country, portfolio size, trading frequency, required markets and whether leveraged derivatives are actually needed.

Is RoboMarkets a scam?

No evidence from the regulatory records reviewed supports describing RoboMarkets as a scam.

RoboMarkets Ltd appears in the CySEC register under licence 191/13. RoboMarkets Deutschland GmbH states that it is supervised by BaFin and Deutsche Bundesbank. RoboMarkets also publishes legal documents for its regional operations.

Investors should still verify the company named in their account agreement, check the current withdrawal conditions and confirm whether they are buying an underlying security or trading a CFD.

What is the RoboMarkets minimum deposit?

For the current RoboMarkets Deutschland Prime Stocks account, the minimum deposit is €100.

Minimum funding requirements outside the EU can vary according to account type, region and payment method. International customers should use the terms shown for the specific legal entity serving them.

Does RoboMarkets offer real stocks?

Yes. RoboMarkets offers stock investing as well as stock CFDs in some jurisdictions.

The RoboMarkets Deutschland offering currently focuses on stocks and ETFs. The international RoboMarkets Invest account advertises more than 12,000 stocks and ETFs across 17 exchanges and supports fractional shares.

Check the instrument details before placing an order. A real share and a CFD referencing the same company are different products with different legal and financial effects.

Is RoboMarkets good for beginners?

RoboMarkets can suit a beginner who wants ordinary stock or ETF investing and understands the fee structure.

The answer is different for leveraged CFD trading. High leverage increases risk sharply, and RoboMarkets' international disclosure says approximately 71% of retail investors lose money when trading CFDs. A beginner does not need leverage simply because the broker offers it.

Final verdict on RoboMarkets

RoboMarkets is a legitimate broker worth considering, particularly if you value its trading technology, market access and percentage-based pricing.

For EU and EEA customers, RoboMarkets Deutschland offers a different proposition from the broker described in many older reviews. Its current European product focuses on stocks, ETFs, R StocksTrader and TradingView, with a €100 minimum deposit and advertised trading fees from 0.075% per side.

International customers can access stocks, ETFs and leveraged CFDs, along with MetaTrader and API-based trading. That wider product range also brings greater risk.

Before opening an account, identify the RoboMarkets legal entity serving your country. Then compare its total trading cost and investor protection with the strongest alternatives available in your market.
