Who should consider it

Currency traders comparing spread-based and commission-based accounts with a specific platform or automation workflow in mind.

What to check first

Confirm regional availability, the regulated entity, leverage limits and rollover costs. Forex and CFD losses can accumulate quickly.

Overview

Octa is a legitimate forex and CFD brokerage brand, but it is not equally well regulated for every customer. Octa offers competitive spread-based trading, a low minimum deposit, MetaTrader and proprietary trading platforms, copy trading and a relatively simple account experience. The main weakness is regulatory protection: the legal entity serving an international Octa customer may offer substantially less protection than Octa Markets Cyprus Ltd, the CySEC-regulated European entity.

Our verdict is therefore straightforward: Octa can make sense for cost-conscious forex and CFD traders who value simple platforms and copy trading, but it would not be our first choice for traders whose priority is the strongest possible regulatory protection.

Before depositing, check the exact company named in your client agreement. Do not assume that a CySEC licence advertised somewhere within the wider Octa brand automatically protects your particular account.

Overall verdictCompetitive product, but check the entity before funding

Octa's current mobile-app listing advertises more than 300 financial instruments, commission-free trading, and a minimum deposit of $20. Independent broker research lists a $25 minimum deposit, which shows why customers should verify the figure for their own payment method and jurisdiction.

Is Octa safe and legitimate?

Octa is a legitimate broker, but the protection available to you depends on which Octa company holds your account.

Octa Markets Cyprus Ltd is an authorised Cyprus Investment Firm regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission under licence number 372/18. CySEC's public register lists Octa as an approved trade name and identifies several European domains operated by the Cyprus company.

The international website has a different structure.

The current legal footer on octabroker.com states that the website is operated by Versustrategy Inc, a company registered in Saint Lucia under business registration number 2025-00917. That registration should not be confused with the CySEC investment-firm licence held by Octa Markets Cyprus Ltd.

South African customers may encounter another arrangement. Orinoco Capital (Pty) Ltd is authorised by South Africa's Financial Sector Conduct Authority under FSP number 51913 and acts as an intermediary. Its current disclosures identify Octa Markets Incorporated in Saint Lucia as the execution venue and product issuer.

OctaFX vs Octa: are they the same broker?

Octa is the brand previously known as OctaFX, but the corporate structure around the brand changed in 2026.

Broker-industry reporting in March 2026 stated that Versustrategy Inc acquired the Octa brand, trademark, and website. The current international website also identifies Versustrategy Inc as the operator of octabroker.com.

This matters because older OctaFX reviews may describe entities, websites, licences, or trading arrangements that no longer match the account being offered.

If you are researching Octa in 2026, check the current client agreement and the relevant regulatory register. Do not rely on an old OctaFX review alone.

What can you trade with Octa?

Octa offers forex and CFD trading rather than a broad investment service.

Depending on the platform and jurisdiction, customers can access:

  • forex currency pairs;
  • stock CFDs;
  • global indices;
  • metals such as gold and silver;
  • energy and other commodity CFDs;
  • and cryptocurrency CFDs where permitted.

Octa's current trading-app listing advertises more than 300 financial instruments. Independent testing by ForexBrokers.com found that the actual number varies by platform, with MetaTrader 5 offering the broadest selection in its testing.

That is enough for traders focused on forex, gold, indices, and popular CFDs. It is less suitable for someone who wants thousands of shares, ETFs, bonds, options, or other exchange-traded investments.

Octa is best viewed as a focused retail forex and CFD broker, not an all-purpose investment account.

What are Octa's fees and spreads?

Octa mainly monetises trading through the spread rather than a separate trading commission.

Octa's current app marketing describes trading as 0% commission. That does not mean trading is cost-free. The bid-ask spread remains an economic cost whenever a position is opened and closed.

ForexBrokers.com's 2026 review reported an advertised average EUR/USD spread of approximately 0.9 pips for non-European entities and approximately 0.5 pips for the EU entity. However, the reviewer also highlighted an important weakness in the data: Octa did not provide a corresponding date range for those average spread figures.

That means I would not compare Octa with another broker based purely on a “spreads from X pips” headline.

A proper comparison should use: total trading cost = spread + commission + overnight financing + conversion costs + deposit/withdrawal costs

Octa's commission-free model can be attractive, particularly for traders who prefer simple pricing, but spreads should be checked on the instruments and during the trading sessions you actually intend to use.

ForexBrokers.com's 2026 review. Octa gave no date range for either average, which is why these are worth less than a tested figure and should not be used to rank Octa against another broker.

Non-European entities

Does Octa charge overnight swap fees?

Octa offers swap-free trading, although the conditions can depend on the account, entity, and instrument.

ForexBrokers.com's 2026 testing reported no overnight carry costs on the Octa offering it reviewed. Octa has also promoted swap-free trading to customers seeking Sharia-compliant accounts.

Swap-free does not guarantee that no other holding-related restriction or charge can apply. Check the current symbol specifications and account terms before basing a long-term strategy on the absence of conventional swaps.

What is the Octa minimum deposit?

The Octa minimum deposit is around $20 to $25 for many international customers, but there is no single figure that applies to everyone.

Octa's updated Google Play listing advertises a $20 minimum deposit. ForexBrokers.com's 2026 dataset lists $25 and notes that the requirement can vary by residence and payment method.

Both figures may be accurate for different customers. Deposit requirements can change across countries, payment rails, and legal entities.

The amount shown inside your verified Octa account immediately before funding is the figure that matters.

Which trading platforms does Octa offer?

Octa offers OctaTrader, MetaTrader 4, and MetaTrader 5, although availability depends on the entity and account. OctaTrader is Octa's proprietary web and mobile trading platform. It is designed to be easier to use than a traditional professional terminal and includes TradingView charts and Octa's market-analysis tools. The current Octa app advertises TradingView charts, more than 30 technical indicators, and integrated market-analysis features. OctaTrader may suit a beginner or discretionary trader who wants a cleaner interface without installing a separate desktop terminal.

MetaTrader 4 remains popular with retail forex traders because of its large library of Expert Advisors, indicators, and automated strategies. MT4 availability depends on the Octa entity and account. Verify access before opening an account for an existing EA or MT4 setup. MetaTrader 5 is the stronger Octa option for traders who want more instruments and the newer MetaQuotes platform. Independent testing in 2026 found that Octa's MT5 offering contained substantially more symbols than OctaTrader. MT5 is therefore the first platform to check if instrument coverage is important to you.

OctaTrader

OctaTrader is Octa's proprietary web and mobile trading environment. It is designed to be simpler than a traditional professional terminal and incorporates TradingView charting and Octa's own market-analysis functionality.

The current Octa app advertises TradingView charts, more than 30 technical indicators and integrated market-analysis tools.

OctaTrader is probably the better fit for a beginner or discretionary trader who wants a cleaner interface without installing a separate desktop terminal.

MetaTrader 4

MetaTrader 4 remains popular with retail forex traders because of its large ecosystem of Expert Advisors, indicators and automated strategies.

MT4 availability can depend on the Octa entity and account being used, so traders should verify it before opening an account specifically for an existing EA or MT4 setup.

MetaTrader 5

MetaTrader 5 is the stronger Octa option for traders who want more instruments and the newer MetaQuotes platform.

Independent testing in 2026 found that Octa's MT5 offering contained substantially more symbols than OctaTrader, making MT5 the obvious platform to check first if instrument coverage matters.

Is Octa good for copy trading?

Octa is a credible option for traders who specifically want copy trading, but copying another trader does not remove the risk of loss.

Octa Copy lets customers choose a "Master Trader" and automatically replicate that trader's positions. Before choosing a strategy, users can review statistics including gain, risk score, profit and loss, copier numbers, and trading history.

Those statistics describe the past. They cannot show whether a strategy will survive a different market environment.

ForexBrokers.com's testing also found that Octa's Master Trader comparison data was less useful than the data provided by some specialist social-trading competitors.

Treat each Master Trader as a separate source of risk. Copy trading is not a substitute for position sizing or other risk controls.

Are Octa deposits and withdrawals reliable?

Octa deposits and withdrawals appear to work well for many customers, but reviews also include complaints about delayed or pending transactions.

As of September 2026, Octa's Trustpilot profile had about 9,800 reviews and a rating of around 3.7 out of 5. The review summary includes praise for simple deposits, successful withdrawals, and responsive support. It also mentions delayed payments and deposits that took time to reach customer accounts.

User-review platforms can help identify recurring problems, but they cannot predict what will happen with your own withdrawal.

A sensible approach with any unfamiliar broker is to make a small initial deposit and complete a withdrawal before keeping a substantially larger balance in the account.

Octa pros and cons

What we like about Octa

  • Low minimum funding requirement for many international customers.
  • Commission-free, spread-based trading.
  • OctaTrader plus MetaTrader availability in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Copy trading is built into the wider Octa ecosystem.
  • More than 300 instruments are marketed through the current app.
  • Demo trading is available.
  • Swap-free trading can be attractive for eligible traders and longer-held positions.
  • The CySEC-regulated Octa Markets Cyprus Ltd provides a stronger regulatory option for eligible European clients.

What could be better

  • Regulatory protection is inconsistent across entities.
  • The international octabroker.com operator should not be confused with the separately CySEC-regulated Cyprus company.
  • Product coverage is modest compared with large multi-asset brokers.
  • Advertised minimum-deposit figures currently vary between official and independent sources.
  • Published spread data can lack enough time context for a precise apples-to-apples cost comparison.
  • Platform and product availability varies by jurisdiction.
  • Copy-trading performance data cannot remove strategy or drawdown risk.

Who should consider Octa?

Octa may suit a trader who mainly wants forex and popular CFDs, prefers a simple pricing model, wants MetaTrader or OctaTrader, and understands the regulatory structure attached to the account.

Octa is more relevant when copy trading, swap-free conditions, or a low starting deposit are important priorities.

Who should probably choose another broker?

Compare alternatives before choosing Octa if your main priority is:

  • the strongest possible local regulatory protection;
  • a very large range of global investments;
  • direct ownership of shares rather than CFD exposure;
  • ETFs, bonds or options;
  • institutional-grade research and trading infrastructure;
  • or keeping substantial long-term capital with one provider.

A low-cost broker is not automatically the best-value broker if the legal protection around your account is weaker.

Is Octa available in the UK, US or EU?

Octa's international website says its services are restricted in several jurisdictions, including the European Union, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

European Octa activity should be checked separately through the domains approved for Octa Markets Cyprus Ltd by CySEC. CySEC's approved-domain register lists domains such as octabroker.eu and octaeu.com for the Cyprus investment firm, rather than the international octabroker.com domain.

The Octa name does not make every website or legal entity interchangeable.

Is Octa a scam?

Octa is not accurately described as a scam based on the facts reviewed. It has a regulated Cyprus entity and an established operating structure. At the same time, it would be inaccurate to describe every Octa account as CySEC regulated.

The important distinction is between the Octa brand and the company holding your account.

Octa Markets Cyprus Ltd is listed by CySEC under licence 372/18. The current international website identifies Versustrategy Inc in Saint Lucia as its operator. Both statements can be true because they refer to different legal entities.

Before depositing, check the company name in your agreement, find that company in the relevant regulator's register, and confirm that the website domain matches the regulator's approved records where those records are available.

Is Octa a good broker for beginners?

Octa can suit beginners because the minimum deposit is low, demo trading is available, the OctaTrader platform is relatively simple, and the broker provides educational and market-analysis material.

Ease of use does not make leveraged trading safe.

Octa offers leveraged CFDs, which can increase losses as well as gains. The international website warns that leveraged financial products can result in the loss of all invested capital.

A beginner using Octa should spend time on a demo account and understand leverage, margin, stop losses, and position sizing before trading real money.

Final verdict: should you use Octa?

Octa is a competitive forex and CFD broker on product and pricing, but its regulatory structure prevents us from giving it an unconditional recommendation.

For the right trader, Octa's combination of low initial funding, commission-free trading, swap-free conditions, MetaTrader, OctaTrader and copy trading is genuinely useful.

The deciding factor is not the interface or the deposit bonus. It is which legal entity will hold your account.

If you are covered directly by a strongly regulated Octa entity and its product range matches what you trade, Octa is worth considering. If the account is being offered through an entity with materially weaker investor protection, I would compare it with a broker regulated directly in your own country before depositing meaningful capital.

Before opening an Octa account:

  • Confirm the exact contracting company.
  • Verify that company directly with the relevant financial regulator.
  • Confirm the current official website or approved domain.
  • Check live spreads for the assets you actually trade.
  • Confirm the minimum deposit and withdrawal method inside your account.
  • Start with a limited balance and test the withdrawal process.

That six-point check tells you far more about whether Octa is suitable for you than any generic “Octa is safe” badge ever will.

Last fact-check: 11 September 2026. Trading forex and CFDs with leverage involves a substantial risk of loss.
