Who should consider it

Currency traders comparing spread-based and commission-based accounts with a specific platform or automation workflow in mind.

What to check first

Confirm regional availability, the regulated entity, leverage limits and rollover costs. Forex and CFD losses can accumulate quickly.

Overview

HYCM is a legitimate forex and CFD broker group, but it is not an automatic recommendation for every trader. HYCM has regulated entities in the UK and UAE, offers MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 and its own HYCM Trader app, and currently advertises a $20 minimum deposit with Raw spreads from 0.1 pips.

The important catch is regulation. Your protection depends on the legal HYCM entity that actually holds your account. HYCM Capital Markets (UK) Limited is FCA regulated, while HYCM Limited is regulated by the Dubai Financial Services Authority. However, the main hycm.com website is operated by HYCM Capital Markets S.R.L., a Costa Rican incorporated company. HYCM's former Cyprus-regulated entity voluntarily renounced its licence in 2024.

HYCM review verdict

HYCM is worth considering if you want MetaTrader, a low opening deposit and access to forex or CFD markets. The FCA-regulated UK entity makes the broker easier to assess for UK clients.

I would not choose HYCM purely because the marketing says "multi-regulated". Before depositing, check the company named in the account agreement. That determines the regulatory framework and protections you actually receive.

HYCM also has clear drawbacks:

For most traders, HYCM belongs on a comparison list rather than at the top of it.

Is HYCM safe and regulated?

HYCM has genuine regulated entities, but every HYCM customer does not receive the same protection. The FCA regulates HYCM Capital Markets (UK) Limited. HYCM Limited is regulated by the DFSA in the Dubai International Financial Centre. The website at hycm.com is operated by HYCM Capital Markets S.R.L. in Costa Rica. Those are separate legal entities. An FCA licence does not automatically give a customer served by the Costa Rican company the same protections as a UK customer.

HYCM's regulation page states that the group currently has regulated entities in the UK and UAE. The DFSA public register lists HYCM under reference F000048 and permits the firm to provide authorised financial services to retail clients. CySEC records HYCM (Europe) Ltd as a former investment firm after the withdrawal of its authorisation. For UK customers, HYCM Capital Markets (UK) Limited operates under FCA rules. HYCM's UK website says that client money is held in segregated accounts and that eligible customers may qualify for Financial Services Compensation Scheme protection. FSCS investment protection can cover eligible claims up to £85,000 per person, per authorised firm, if a firm fails and cannot return money or investments owed. That protection should not be assumed because a customer sees the HYCM brand or an FCA reference on the website. Confirm the company named in the legal agreement first.

HYCM's own regulation page states that the group currently has regulated entities in the UK and UAE. The DFSA public register lists HYCM under reference F000048 and permits the firm to conduct authorised financial services with retail clients. CySEC separately records HYCM (Europe) Ltd as a former investment firm following withdrawal of its authorisation.

For UK customers, HYCM Capital Markets (UK) Limited is subject to FCA rules. HYCM's UK site states that client money is held in segregated accounts and that eligible clients may be protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. FSCS investment protection can cover eligible claims up to £85,000 per person, per authorised firm if a firm fails and cannot return money or investments owed.

That protection should not be assumed to apply simply because a user sees the HYCM brand. Check the company named in the legal agreement before funding the account.

Is HYCM a scam?

There is no official regulatory evidence in the supplied material supporting the claim that the genuine HYCM group is a scam. The FCA recognises HYCM Capital Markets (UK) Limited as an authorised firm under reference 186171.

There is still an impersonation risk. The FCA has issued warnings about clone websites pretending to represent HYCM and using details belonging to the authorised company. One FCA warning identifies the genuine UK website as hycm.co.uk.

Verify the company and website directly through the relevant regulator's register. A copied company name, FCA number or logo is not proof that you are dealing with the authorised firm.

HYCM account types and trading fees

HYCM says these spreads are indicative. Actual spreads should be checked in the trading terminal, and spreads can widen during the broker's defined midnight trading session.

That last point matters. A broker advertising "spreads from 0.1 pips" is not promising that EUR/USD will remain at 0.1 pips whenever you trade. Minimum advertised spreads, typical spreads and the all-in cost after commission are different measurements.

Which HYCM account is best?

The Raw account is the most suitable HYCM option for active forex traders who want tight spreads and accept a commission. Its value depends on the spreads and commission available for the instruments and entity you use.

The Classic account is easier to understand because it has no separate commission. It may suit traders who do not trade often enough for small spread differences to make much difference to their total costs.

The Fixed account has a narrower use case. Its pricing may be easier to budget, but Expert Advisors are not permitted and HYCM says fixed spreads can still widen during its midnight trading session.

What markets can you trade with HYCM?

HYCM focuses on forex and CFDs covering stocks, indices, cryptocurrencies and commodities. Its current global website advertises more than 300 instruments through its trading platforms.

The available instruments depend on your jurisdiction. HYCM's UK product page lists forex, stock CFDs, indices and commodities. UK retail CFD rules also affect the leverage available to customers.

HYCM is therefore better suited to forex and CFD trading than to investors looking for a broad platform for traditional investments.

What leverage does HYCM offer?

HYCM advertises leverage of up to 1:500 through its Costa Rican offering. Regulated retail accounts can have much lower limits.

On the global offering, HYCM publishes maximum dynamic leverage of:

UK retail customers operate under FCA CFD restrictions. These rules limit retail CFD leverage to between 30:1 and 2:1, depending on the underlying asset. HYCM's UK forex page currently shows maximum leverage of 1:30.

Leverage increases losses as well as gains. HYCM's UK website states that 68% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider.

Which trading platforms does HYCM support?

HYCM supports MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, web trading and the HYCM Trader mobile app.

MetaTrader 4 remains useful for established forex strategies and Expert Advisors. MetaTrader 5 offers a newer multi-asset environment. HYCM Trader provides a simpler mobile interface for account management, market monitoring and trading.

The limitation is platform choice. HYCM does not currently offer the range of third-party integrations available from some competitors. Independent 2026 comparisons list cTrader and TradingView as unavailable.

That may not matter if your trading system already runs on MetaTrader. If TradingView or cTrader is part of your daily workflow, HYCM is a weaker fit.

Are HYCM deposits and withdrawals good?

HYCM has a low minimum deposit, but withdrawal performance should be judged by the time money reaches your account, not only by the broker's internal processing time.

The global funding page lists bank transfer, Visa and cryptocurrency among the available methods. HYCM says it does not charge for standard deposits, although banks and payment providers may add their own fees.

HYCM says withdrawal requests are normally processed within one business day. It also says funds may take three to seven days to arrive, depending on the bank or card provider.

Payment methods, fees, base currencies and withdrawal conditions can vary by jurisdiction. Read the schedule attached to your specific HYCM entity before depositing.

What do HYCM customer reviews say?

HYCM's current Trustpilot profile is a serious negative, although user reviews are not proof of regulatory misconduct.

As of 10 September 2026, HYCM's claimed Trustpilot profile had a score of 1.8 out of 5 from 141 reviews. Trustpilot also says HYCM has not recently invited customers to submit reviews and warns that the available reviews may not be representative.

Several recent negative reviews allege problems involving withdrawals or trading conditions. These are individual customer claims. They have not been independently established by Trustpilot and should not be presented as proof that HYCM improperly withheld funds.

The practical conclusion is simple: start cautiously. Check the contracting entity, read the withdrawal terms and test the full deposit-to-withdrawal process with an amount you can afford to use for that purpose.

A demo account can test the platform. It cannot test a live withdrawal.

HYCM pros and cons

  • Pros: FCA and DFSA regulated group entities; $20 entry point; Raw spreads advertised from 0.1 pips; MT4 and MT5 support; Expert Advisors allowed on Classic and Raw accounts; proprietary mobile app; negative balance protection under relevant offerings; 24/5 customer support; research tools including Trading Central, Financial Source and Seasonax. Cons: regulatory protection varies substantially by entity; the main hycm.com site is operated by a Costa Rican company rather than the FCA entity; HYCM no longer accepts EU clients following the Cyprus licence withdrawal; no cTrader or TradingView integration; fixed account does not support Expert Advisors; customer sentiment on Trustpilot is currently poor.

Who should use HYCM?

HYCM is most suitable for traders who want forex or CFD exposure through MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5, prefer a low minimum deposit and are comfortable with the entity available in their jurisdiction.

For a UK trader, the offer is easier to assess because HYCM Capital Markets (UK) Limited is FCA regulated and operates the dedicated UK service.

For an international customer arriving through hycm.com, the account agreement matters more than the group-level marketing. The FCA-regulated company does not automatically provide UK investor protection to a customer whose account is held by the Costa Rican company.

HYCM is a poor fit for EU residents, traders who rely on TradingView or cTrader, and investors seeking a broad investment platform rather than a forex and CFD broker.

HYCM vs other brokers: should you compare alternatives?

Yes. HYCM is credible enough to include in a shortlist, but it does not perform strongly enough in every category to skip comparisons.

MetaTrader-focused traders should compare HYCM's real spreads and commissions with other execution-focused brokers. UK traders may also want to compare HYCM with FCA-regulated providers such as IG and Pepperstone. Raw account users can benchmark costs against brokers such as IC Markets where that broker is available in their jurisdiction.

Compare the following rather than relying on the lowest advertised spread:

Is HYCM available in the EU or United States?

HYCM does not currently accept EU residents, and its website lists the United States among its restricted jurisdictions.

HYCM (Europe) Ltd previously held Cyprus Investment Firm licence 259/14. CySEC withdrew the authorisation after HYCM chose to renounce it in June 2024. Independent broker research reports that HYCM then stopped accepting EU and EEA clients.

HYCM's website also lists the United States, Belgium and Hong Kong among restricted jurisdictions.

What is the HYCM minimum deposit?

HYCM currently advertises a $20 minimum deposit for its Fixed, Classic and Raw trading accounts.

Some older HYCM reviews list minimum deposits of $100 or $200. Those figures do not match the broker's current 2026 account pages.

Does HYCM offer a demo account?

Yes. HYCM offers live and demo trading accounts.

A demo account lets you test MetaTrader, order entry and the broker's interface without risking capital. It does not show how quickly a live withdrawal will arrive, which spreads you will receive in different market conditions or how your legal entity handles an account dispute.

Final verdict: is HYCM a good broker in 2026?

HYCM is a legitimate broker with a potentially competitive MetaTrader offering, but its suitability depends heavily on the entity serving you.

Its main strengths are the $20 minimum deposit, MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 support, Raw spreads advertised from 0.1 pips and access to regulated UK and UAE companies.

Its main weakness is the gap between the HYCM brand and the company that holds a customer's account. A visitor to hycm.com may see FCA and DFSA regulation at group level while dealing with HYCM Capital Markets S.R.L. in Costa Rica. EU regulation also ended when HYCM voluntarily renounced its Cyprus licence in 2024.

For UK clients opening an account with HYCM Capital Markets (UK) Limited, HYCM is a reasonable broker to shortlist.

For international customers, verify the company taking your deposit, compare its protections and withdrawal terms with at least two alternatives, and then decide whether HYCM's costs and MetaTrader platform suit your trading needs.

That check is more useful than any generic "HYCM is safe" rating.
