Overview
FXPrimus is a legitimate regulated forex and CFD broker, but it is not our first choice for most traders. Its biggest strength is flexibility: low minimum deposits, MetaTrader support and potentially very high leverage for international customers. Its biggest weakness is that the level of regulatory protection depends heavily on which FXPrimus legal entity holds your account.
European clients can be served by Primus Global Ltd, a Cyprus investment firm regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission under licence 261/14. International customers using FXPrimus.com are generally dealing with Primus Markets INTL Limited, regulated by the Vanuatu Financial Services Commission under licence 14595. Both licences are currently listed by the respective regulators.
Our verdict: FXPrimus is worth considering if you specifically want MetaTrader, a low entry deposit or the high-leverage conditions available through its international entity. If regulatory protection is your main priority, the CySEC-regulated FXPrimus entity is materially more attractive than the Vanuatu entity.

Is FXPrimus legit or a scam?
FXPrimus is a regulated broker, not an anonymous unlicensed trading platform. Primus Global Ltd appears in the current CySEC register with licence 261/14. The VFSC lists Primus Markets INTL Limited, company number 14595, as an active financial dealer licensee.
The protection available to customers still depends on the entity behind the account.

CySEC lists www.fxprimus.eu as an approved domain for Primus Global Ltd. Check the domain and the legal entity before opening an account. The FXPrimus brand name alone does not identify the company entering into the client agreement.
The Cyprus operation says that client funds are segregated and that customers receive negative balance protection. Primus Global Ltd is also a member of the Cyprus Investor Compensation Fund. Eligible covered clients can potentially receive the lower of 90% of a covered claim or €20,000, subject to the fund's statutory conditions.
The international operation also advertises segregated accounts and negative balance protection. It operates under the Vanuatu regulatory framework rather than the CySEC framework.
Where both entities are available, the CySEC account is the stronger choice from a regulatory protection perspective. The trade-off is lower leverage and a narrower range of platforms and products than the international operation.
Some older broker reviews still list South African FSCA licence number 46675 as an active FXPrimus licence. The FSCA stated in 2022 that FSP number 46675 belonged to Primus Africa and had lapsed in January 2022. It should not be presented as a current FXPrimus licence.

These are the broker's published starting conditions. They do not guarantee the spread available during live trading. Spreads can widen, and leverage is reduced as account equity increases.
For example, FXPrimus advertises leverage of up to 1:2000 on a PrimusCLASSIC account with equity of up to $2,500. Lower leverage bands apply as the account balance grows. PrimusCLASSIC is the entry account. It requires a $15 minimum deposit and has no separate commission.
PrimusPRO is aimed at active traders who can fund at least $500 in exchange for lower advertised spreads.
PrimusZERO offers spreads from 0.0 pips and charges $5 per lot. It requires a $1,000 minimum deposit and is currently limited to MT4.
Compare the full trading cost rather than the headline spread. A raw-spread account also charges commission, so the relevant figure is the spread plus commission for your trade size and strategy.
FXPrimus EU accounts
The CySEC operation has a simpler account range. FXPrimus.eu currently lists:
- PrimusCLASSIC: $15 minimum deposit, spreads from 1.5 pips, no commission and leverage up to 1:30.
- PrimusPRO: $500 minimum deposit, spreads from approximately 0.1 pips, $10 MT4 commission and leverage up to 1:30.
- Demo account: $0 minimum deposit.
The 1:30 ceiling is consistent with European restrictions on retail CFD leverage for major currency pairs. Lower limits apply to some more volatile asset classes.
The choice is straightforward. The Vanuatu operation provides access to much higher leverage. The Cyprus operation gives eligible retail clients lower leverage limits and stronger formal investor protection.
What can you trade with FXPrimus?
The international FXPrimus website advertises more than 1,000 instruments across:
- forex
- precious metals
- energies
- stocks
- indices
- cryptocurrencies
- synthetic indices.
The Cyprus operation currently lists more than 130 instruments, including forex, metals, indices and stock CFDs.
The distinction matters. A review claiming simply that "FXPrimus offers 1,000+ markets" without identifying the relevant entity can give European traders the wrong expectation.
Which trading platforms does FXPrimus offer?
FXPrimus is primarily a MetaTrader broker.
International customers can access MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 and WebTrader. The exact platform available depends on the account. PrimusZERO, for example, is currently listed as an MT4 account, while PrimusSynthetics uses MT5.
The CySEC-regulated FXPrimus.eu operation currently advertises MetaTrader 4 and MT4 WebTrader, rather than the full MT4/MT5 selection available through the international site.
This makes FXPrimus reasonably attractive for traders already comfortable with MetaTrader. Traders specifically looking for cTrader, TradingView-based execution or a sophisticated proprietary trading platform should compare alternatives.
How do FXPrimus deposits and withdrawals work?
FXPrimus supports bank transfers, cards, electronic wallets and, through the international operation, cryptocurrency funding. Available methods depend on the customer's country.
FXPrimus says most international withdrawal requests are processed within 24 hours on business days. The time required for the funds to reach the customer depends on the payment provider. Bank transfers can take several working days.
FXPrimus says it does not charge its own withdrawal fee, although banks and payment intermediaries can still charge the customer. The Cyprus operation currently displays a $100 minimum withdrawal for bank wires and an indicated processing period of two to five working days.
Customers should complete KYC before relying on the withdrawal process. The international client agreement allows some trading before full verification within stated limits, but full KYC is required when a customer wants to withdraw.
Completing verification before depositing meaningful capital is the safer approach.
What do FXPrimus customer reviews say?
FXPrimus customer feedback is mixed, so review scores should not be treated as proof of either safety or fraud.
At the time of this review, the main FXPrimus.com Trustpilot profile showed a 4.1/5 TrustScore from 96 reviews. The ratings were divided: 51% were five star reviews and 35% were one star reviews. Positive reviewers often mentioned responsive support and successful withdrawals. Some negative reviewers alleged withdrawal disputes and account problems. These are individual allegations, not independently proven findings.
The FXPrimus.eu Trustpilot profile has only a small number of reviews. Its overall score is therefore of limited use when judging the Cyprus operation.
Forex Peace Army provides another reason to treat review site scores carefully. Its FXPrimus page currently shows a rating of around 2.8 from 150 reviews. The site also says it blocked groups of positive and negative FXPrimus reviews that appeared to involve multiple account activity in 2023 and 2024.
The useful conclusion is not "reviews are good" or "reviews are bad." It is that broker-review platforms are noisy evidence. Regulatory status, legal entity, contractual terms, live trading costs and your own small withdrawal test are more useful decision inputs than a star rating.
FXPrimus pros and cons
What we like about FXPrimus
- Both principal operating entities have verifiable current regulatory registrations.
- Primus Global Ltd has CySEC regulation and access to the Cyprus Investor Compensation Fund for eligible covered clients.
- The international minimum deposit starts at only $15.
- MT4 and MT5 are available through the international operation.
- Several pricing models are available, including commission-free and raw-spread accounts.
- Negative balance protection is advertised for both Cyprus and international customers.
- International customers can access unusually high leverage if that is specifically what they need.
What could be better
- The regulatory proposition changes significantly between FXPrimus.eu and FXPrimus.com.
- The international entity is regulated offshore in Vanuatu.
- The EU platform range is currently much narrower than the global offering.
- The $500 and $1,000 minimum deposits on the Pro and Zero accounts are relatively high compared with the $15 entry account.
- Very high leverage materially increases the speed at which traders can lose capital.
- Public customer feedback is polarised, particularly around withdrawals and account disputes.
- Several third-party FXPrimus reviews contain stale information, making independent verification necessary.
Who is FXPrimus best for?
FXPrimus is best suited to traders who understand leveraged CFD trading and have a clear reason to choose its account structure.
The broker may suit MetaTrader users, traders who want a low minimum deposit and experienced international traders seeking leverage above European retail limits.
The international PrimusZERO account may also suit higher frequency traders who prefer raw pricing and MT4 execution.
Who should avoid FXPrimus?
FXPrimus is a weaker fit for traders who want the highest level of regulatory protection regardless of trading conditions, especially if their only available account is with the Vanuatu entity.
It is also a poor fit for anyone choosing a broker mainly because of its very high leverage. Leverage of 1:500 or 1:2000, and the effective leverage advertised for synthetic instruments, can cause a small adverse price movement to damage an account quickly.
Beginners who want a proprietary platform, integrated research tools or a simple investment product may find other brokers more suitable.
What should you check before opening an FXPrimus account?
Before depositing, check these four points:
- Read the legal entity on the account agreement. Do not assume that seeing the FXPrimus brand means you are opening an account with Primus Global Ltd in Cyprus.
- Verify the licence on the regulator's website. For the Cyprus company this is CySEC 261/14. For the international operation it is VFSC 14595.
- Check your exact spread, commission, swap and leverage conditions. Headline "from" pricing is not the same thing as the actual cost of your trading strategy.
- Complete KYC and test a small withdrawal before scaling the account. A successful small withdrawal does not guarantee future performance, but it gives you more useful information than depositing a large balance immediately.
These checks matter because FXPrimus operates through entities with different protections and trading conditions.
FXPrimus review: final verdict
FXPrimus is a legitimate broker, but whether it is a good broker for you depends heavily on the entity you receive.
For eligible customers, Primus Global Ltd under CySEC licence 261/14 is the stronger version of the FXPrimus proposition from a regulatory-protection perspective. Customers receive negative balance protection, segregated client-money arrangements and potential Investor Compensation Fund protection subject to the fund's eligibility rules.
The Primus Markets INTL Limited offering in Vanuatu is more aggressive. It offers a broader MetaTrader proposition, lower entry barriers and leverage reaching 1:2000 on certain PrimusCLASSIC balances, but customers trade under an offshore regulatory framework.
For most traders, FXPrimus therefore sits in the "consider, but compare first" category rather than the automatic top-pick category.
If you specifically want FXPrimus, check the company named in the client agreement before funding the account. That one line tells you more about the protection you are receiving than almost any broker-review score.
