Who should consider it

Currency traders comparing spread-based and commission-based accounts with a specific platform or automation workflow in mind.

What to check first

Confirm regional availability, the regulated entity, leverage limits and rollover costs. Forex and CFD losses can accumulate quickly.

Overview

TopFX is a regulated CFD and forex broker with strong platform choice and competitive advertised trading conditions, but it is not a broker I would recommend without checking exactly which TopFX legal entity will hold your account.

The good part is straightforward. TopFX offers MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 and cTrader, advertises forex spreads from 0.0 pips on its Zero account, and its international offering includes leverage of up to 1:2000 on some instruments and accounts.

The risk is more nuanced. TopFX operates through multiple legal entities with materially different regulatory environments. TopFX Ltd holds an active Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission licence, while international clients may be onboarded through entities in jurisdictions such as Seychelles or the British Virgin Islands. Recent user complaints also include allegations involving withdrawals, account closures and cancelled trading profits. These complaints are not independently proven, but they are serious enough that prospective clients should not ignore them.

Our verdict: TopFX is a legitimate regulated broker group, but "TopFX is regulated" is too simplistic. Your actual protection depends heavily on which TopFX company signs your client agreement. Experienced CFD traders attracted by cTrader, MT5, tight advertised spreads and higher leverage may find the offering attractive. Traders whose priority is maximum regulatory protection and simplicity should compare alternatives before depositing.

Main concernRegulatory protection and terms vary substantially by legal entity

TopFX's current international materials list cTrader, MT4 and MT5. They also advertise Growth, Zero and Pro accounts. CySEC lists TopFX Ltd under licence 138/11. The licence was originally issued on 19 April 2011.

Is TopFX legit or a scam?

TopFX is a real regulated brokerage group, so calling the entire company an unregulated scam would be inaccurate. The protection attached to a TopFX account depends on the entity that signs the client agreement.

CySEC's official register confirms that TopFX Ltd holds Cyprus Investment Firm licence 138/11. The register also lists topfx.com and topfx.eu as approved domains.

TopFX Global Ltd is associated with Seychelles Financial Services Authority securities dealer licence SD037. The Seychelles FSA referred to TopFX Global Ltd as a licensed and regulated entity when it warned the public about an unrelated website using the TopFX name.

TopFX Markets Limited states in its British Virgin Islands legal documentation that it is licensed by the BVI Financial Services Commission under licence SIBA/L/23/1161.

These are separate companies. The brand name alone does not tell you which rules apply to your account.

Before registering, check:

  • Which company appears on my account agreement?
  • Which regulator supervises that company?
  • Does that regulator cover customers in my country?
  • What investor compensation, negative balance and client-money protections actually apply to my account?

Check these points before comparing spreads or bonuses.

Is TopFX regulated?

Yes. TopFX has regulated entities, including TopFX Ltd under CySEC and TopFX Global Ltd under the Seychelles FSA.

The strongest independently verifiable regulatory relationship in this review is TopFX Ltd's CySEC licence.

CySEC currently records:

  • Company: TopFX Ltd
  • Licence number: 138/11
  • Licence date: 19 April 2011
  • Company registration: 274180
  • Approved domains: topfx.com and topfx.eu

However, do not assume that seeing the CySEC licence on a TopFX website means your trading account is contracted with the CySEC entity.

A particularly important point for EU retail traders

TopFX's current European website states that its Cyprus operation does not offer services to retail clients or individual investors. The displayed information is intended for institutional clients.

That makes some older or third-party TopFX reviews potentially misleading. A review may discuss "EU TopFX accounts" or European trading conditions that are not available to a new retail applicant today.

EU retail traders should check the company shown during registration. Do not rely on the age or wording of a broker review.

Does TopFX have any regulatory warnings?

Yes. TopFX or TopFX Global Ltd has appeared in country-specific warnings concerning unauthorised or unregistered financial activity. These warnings do not cancel its licences elsewhere, but they matter for residents of the affected markets.

Malaysia's Securities Commission included "Top FX" in an Investor Alert List update published on 1 September 2022. The list covers entities and websites that are not authorised by the Securities Commission Malaysia for the relevant activities.

Japan's Financial Services Agency also lists TopFX Global Ltd among overseas entities that solicited over-the-counter derivatives business through the internet without the relevant Japanese registration.

These warnings should be interpreted correctly.

They do not prove that TopFX has no regulatory licences anywhere. CySEC's licence is independently confirmed.

They do show why "regulated broker" is not enough information. A broker can hold a licence in Cyprus or Seychelles while lacking authorisation to solicit clients in another country.

Watch out for fake TopFX websites

There is also an impersonation risk worth knowing about.

In December 2025, the Seychelles Financial Services Authority specifically warned that topfxm.com was not linked to TopFX Global Ltd, which the regulator identified as an authorised entity.

That is an important distinction if you are researching claims that a "TopFX website" is fraudulent.

Check the domain against the relevant regulator or TopFX's published legal documentation before depositing money or uploading identification documents.

Which TopFX account is best?

The Zero account is the obvious account to investigate first if your priority is tight spreads, but compare the total spread plus commission rather than looking at the advertised 0.0-pip headline alone.

A spread of "from 0 pips" does not mean trading costs are zero.

Commission structures, instrument pricing and execution conditions determine the real cost of active trading. Confirm the live specifications shown for the legal entity and platform you will actually use.

The Pro account is more straightforward for traders who prefer commission-free pricing embedded into a wider spread.

The Growth account starts at a wider advertised forex spread of 1.2 pips, making it less obviously attractive to high-volume or short-term traders unless other conditions compensate for the difference.

How much does TopFX charge?

TopFX's trading costs depend on your entity, account type and instrument, so there is no single meaningful "TopFX spread".

The current global offering advertises:

  • Zero forex spreads from 0.0 pips
  • Pro spreads from 0.5 pips
  • Growth spreads from 1.2 pips

The Cyprus entity publishes a separate costs document. It lists Raw accounts from 0.0 pips with a commission of €2.75 per side per lot. Opening and closing one standard lot would therefore produce a stated commission of €5.50. The same document lists an inactivity fee of €5 per month after 90 days without trading activity.

Those Cyprus figures should not automatically be applied to an offshore TopFX account. Check the costs document connected to your own account.

Starting spreads only. The Zero and Raw accounts add commission on top: the Cyprus costs document lists €2.75 a side, which is €5.50 to open and close one standard lot, so zero spread is not zero cost.

What about swaps and overnight fees?

Overnight positions can incur swap or financing charges.

TopFX's Cyprus costs document states that swaps vary and may be debited or credited depending on the instrument and the direction of the position.

For a trader holding positions for several days, the swap schedule may affect the result more than a small difference in the headline spread. Check the rate for each instrument before holding a position overnight.

How high is TopFX leverage?

TopFX advertises leverage of up to 1:2000 through its international offering, although the maximum varies by instrument and jurisdiction.

That is an unusually aggressive level of leverage.

For example, 1:2000 leverage theoretically means that $500 of margin could control $1 million of notional exposure before instrument-specific requirements and dynamic leverage rules are considered.

That is not automatically an advantage.

Leverage magnifies losses just as quickly as gains. A tiny adverse market movement can become a large percentage loss on the capital supporting the trade.

TopFX itself warns that margin products carry a high risk and that clients can lose all their invested capital.

For most new traders, maximum available leverage should not be a broker-selection criterion.

What trading platforms does TopFX offer?

TopFX offers cTrader, MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5 on its current international account range. cTrader is suited to traders who want a modern interface, algorithmic trading through cBots and copy-trading tools within the cTrader ecosystem. TopFX also promotes cTrader Copy, where users can follow trading strategies provided by other traders. MT4 remains useful for forex traders who already use Expert Advisors, indicators or other tools built for the MetaTrader 4 ecosystem. MT5 offers a newer MetaTrader environment with broader multi-asset functionality. Having all three platforms gives experienced traders more choice than brokers that require customers to use proprietary software.

cTrader

cTrader is particularly relevant to traders who want a modern interface, algorithmic trading through cBots and integrated copy-trading functionality.

TopFX also promotes cTrader Copy, allowing users to follow trading strategies through the cTrader ecosystem.

MetaTrader 4

MT4 remains useful for forex traders with existing Expert Advisors, indicators or automated systems built around the MetaTrader 4 ecosystem.

MetaTrader 5

MT5 provides a newer MetaTrader environment and broader multi-asset functionality.

Supporting all three platforms gives TopFX an advantage over brokers that force experienced traders onto proprietary software.

What can you trade with TopFX?

The current international TopFX website advertises:

  • Forex CFDs
  • Index CFDs
  • Metals
  • Energies
  • Cryptocurrency CFDs
  • Shares and ETFs
  • Synthetic CFDs

TopFX has also introduced synthetic indices on cTrader. These are algorithmically generated instruments, not direct representations of real-world financial markets.

CFD trading generally gives you exposure to price movements rather than ownership of the underlying asset. TopFX's legal documentation states this for CFDs.

Does TopFX allow copy trading?

Yes. TopFX supports cTrader Copy and promotes both strategy-provider and copy-trader functionality.

A copy trader can choose a strategy, monitor positions and stop following it.

That convenience should not be confused with lower risk. Copying another trader still exposes your capital to the trader's strategy, leverage, position sizing and potential drawdowns.

Past performance visible inside a copy-trading system does not guarantee future results.

What are TopFX withdrawals like?

TopFX permits withdrawals, but processing can involve identity checks, payment-method checks and other compliance procedures. No single withdrawal time can be promised for every client.

TopFX's BVI terms state that withdrawals should generally use the same method used to fund the account. The company may request further documents or delay processing when it is not satisfied with the information supplied.

That type of review is common at regulated brokers. Anti-money-laundering controls can restrict third-party payments and require checks on the source of funds.

The customer reports still deserve attention. Some recent reviews allege delayed withdrawals, account closures and cancelled trading profits. Those allegations have not been independently proven, so they should be treated as claims rather than established facts.

What do TopFX customer reviews say?

TopFX customer feedback is mixed, and the different Trustpilot profiles do not tell the same story.

The main topfx.com Trustpilot profile currently shows a score of 4.3/5 from 483 reviews. Positive reviews often mention customer support, execution and withdrawals.

The separate topfx.com.sc profile has 30 reviews, a 2.0/5 TrustScore and 60% one-star ratings as of this review. Recent posts include allegations about delayed withdrawals, account closures, slippage and cancelled trading profits.

These are user-generated claims. They are not regulatory findings or independently verified proof of misconduct.

The larger topfx.com profile also appears to contain unrelated reviews about shipping, product replacements and orders. TopFX has replied to some of those reviews that it could not identify matching accounts. That makes the aggregate score less useful than it first appears.

The useful signal is therefore not "TopFX has 4.3 stars". The useful signal is that customer experiences appear mixed, and recent complaints involving withdrawals or cancelled profits deserve investigation before depositing serious capital.

Is money safe with TopFX?

No CFD broker should be treated as equivalent to a bank account, and TopFX's level of client protection depends on the entity holding your account.

A CySEC-regulated company operates within a materially different regulatory framework from an offshore Seychelles or BVI entity.

That means the first safety check is not: > "Is TopFX regulated?"

It is: > "Which regulated TopFX company will legally owe me my money?"

That question determines the relevant regulator, complaint procedure, leverage rules and potential client protections.

For a new account, I would verify the company name and licence in the agreement before depositing anything substantial.

TopFX pros and cons

TopFX advantages

  • CySEC confirms an active TopFX Ltd investment-firm licence dating to 2011.
  • cTrader, MT4 and MT5 provide excellent platform flexibility.
  • Global forex spreads are advertised from 0.0 pips on the Zero account.
  • Minimum position sizes start at 0.01 lot.
  • Broad CFD market coverage is available.
  • cTrader Copy adds integrated copy-trading functionality.
  • Very high leverage is available to eligible international clients who specifically want it.

TopFX disadvantages

  • The TopFX brand spans multiple legal entities with substantially different regulatory protections.
  • Up to 1:2000 leverage creates extreme loss potential.
  • Malaysia and Japan have published jurisdiction-specific warnings concerning unauthorised or unregistered activity.
  • Recent user reviews include serious allegations concerning withdrawals, execution and profit cancellation, although these allegations have not been independently proven.
  • Review-platform scores are inconsistent between TopFX domains.
  • Headline "from" spreads do not tell you the complete all-in trading cost.
  • The current Cyprus-facing site states that retail and individual investors are not served by that operation.

Who should consider TopFX?

TopFX may suit an experienced CFD trader who wants cTrader or MetaTrader, understands leveraged derivatives and is willing to check the legal entity behind the account.

It may appeal to:

  • active forex traders
  • cTrader users
  • algorithmic traders using MetaTrader or cTrader tools
  • experienced CFD traders
  • traders seeking high offshore leverage where legally available
  • traders who value a choice between MT4, MT5 and cTrader

Who should avoid TopFX?

I would look elsewhere if regulatory simplicity and the strongest available investor protection matter more to you than leverage or platform choice.

TopFX is also unlikely to be my first choice for:

  • complete beginners
  • investors wanting ownership of actual shares or ETFs rather than CFDs
  • traders who do not understand margin and liquidation risk
  • anyone who cannot determine which TopFX entity will hold their account
  • residents of jurisdictions where TopFX lacks the required local authorisation

How to check TopFX before depositing

Before opening an account, take these five steps: 1. Read the client agreement and find the exact legal company name. 2. Verify that company on the regulator's own website. 3. Check your country's regulator. A licence in another country does not automatically authorise client solicitation where you live. 4. Test the funding and withdrawal process with a small amount before committing substantial capital. 5. Save the account terms, transaction records, emails and withdrawal confirmations.

  • Read the client agreement. Find the exact legal company name.
  • Verify that company on the regulator's own website. Do not rely on a badge in a website footer.
  • Check your country's regulator. A licence somewhere else does not automatically authorise solicitation where you live.
  • Test with a small deposit and withdrawal. Confirm the funding process before committing significant capital.
  • Save your documentation. Keep copies of account terms, transaction records, emails and withdrawal confirmations.

This process is more useful than relying on anonymous five-star or one-star reviews.

Is TopFX a good broker?

TopFX has a credible platform offering and a verifiable regulatory presence, but the answer depends on the account entity.

The platform selection is a genuine strength. cTrader, MT4 and MT5 cover most mainstream forex trading workflows. The advertised spreads are competitive, and 0.01-lot positions give traders a smaller starting size.

The main reservation is the legal structure. TopFX Ltd holds a CySEC licence, but international clients may instead contract with an offshore entity. The country-specific warnings and recent customer complaints add further reasons to verify the account before funding it.

TopFX is worth considering, not blindly trusting.

TopFX review: final verdict

TopFX is a legitimate broker group, but it is not equally attractive under every TopFX entity.

An experienced trader who wants cTrader, MT4 or MT5 and understands offshore CFD risk may find the broker suitable. A safety-first retail trader should not open an account simply because the brand advertises a CySEC licence or a 0.0-pip spread.

First confirm:

TopFX rating: 7/10 for experienced international CFD traders. The rating can be materially lower if the account is placed under an entity offering weaker protection than the trader expected.

Trading CFDs involves substantial risk, particularly when leverage is used. This review assesses the broker and its published terms. It is not investment advice.
