What to check first

Confirm regional availability, the regulated entity, leverage limits and rollover costs. Forex and CFD losses can accumulate quickly.

Overview

Verdict: Pepperstone is a strong choice for active forex and CFD traders who want competitive pricing, MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, cTrader, TradingView and a proprietary web/mobile platform under one broker. Its Razor account is particularly attractive for frequent FX traders.

Pepperstone is less suitable for long-term investors who want to own real shares or ETFs. Its core retail offering is leveraged CFDs rather than ownership of the underlying assets.

Pepperstone is also a legitimate, multi-jurisdiction regulated broker. However, the regulatory protection, leverage limits and compensation arrangements you receive depend on the Pepperstone legal entity that holds your account.

Our call: Pepperstone belongs on the shortlist for forex and CFD trading. For active FX trading, Razor is the account we would choose in most cases. For long-term investing, we would use a broker built around ownership of real securities instead.

> Risk warning: CFDs are leveraged products and can cause losses quickly. Pepperstone's global website currently states that 79.6% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. The percentage and wording can vary by jurisdiction and legal entity.

Is Pepperstone safe and regulated?

Pepperstone is a legitimate regulated broker, but regulation does not make trading risk-free. Regulation can protect clients against certain broker-level risks. It does not prevent losses on leveraged CFDs.

Pepperstone Group currently lists regulated entities in Australia, the Bahamas, Cyprus, Dubai, Germany, Kenya and the United Kingdom, along with a second UAE regulatory structure. Its regulators include ASIC, the Securities Commission of The Bahamas, CySEC, DFSA, BaFin, the UK's Financial Conduct Authority and capital-market authorities in Kenya and the UAE.

Pepperstone fees: Razor vs Standard

Razor is generally the better-priced account for active forex traders. Standard is simpler, but the simpler fee structure is not automatically cheaper.

Standard accounts generally include the FX trading charge in the spread. Razor uses raw spreads and adds a separate commission. Pepperstone's August 2026 data shows:

That commission equals $7 for a completed round trip.

What does Pepperstone actually cost per trade?

This is where the headline “spreads from 0.0 pips” becomes more useful.

For one standard lot of EUR/USD, one pip is approximately $10.

Razor

Average EUR/USD spread

Approx. spread cost
$1
Round-trip commission
$7
Approx. total
$8

Standard

Average EUR/USD spread
1.1 pips
Approx. spread cost
$11
Round-trip commission
$0
Approx. total
$11

Using Pepperstone's August 2026 average spreads, Razor therefore costs approximately $8 versus $11 on Standard for a one-standard-lot EUR/USD round trip.

That is roughly a 27% lower transaction cost in this specific example.

The calculation excludes slippage, overnight funding, currency conversion, volume rebates and changes in live spreads. It is not a guarantee of future trading costs.

Independent research from ForexBrokers.com previously calculated the same approximate 0.8-pip all-in EUR/USD cost for Razor using Pepperstone's earlier average spread data, which provides useful independent corroboration of the calculation.

Which Pepperstone account should you choose?

Choose Razor if you:

Choose Standard if you trade less often and prefer a spread-only pricing model without a separate FX commission.

For active EUR/USD trading, the current figures favour Razor.

Does Pepperstone charge an inactivity fee?

No. Pepperstone states that it does not charge account-keeping or inactivity fees.

An unused, low-balance account can be archived after several months. Pepperstone says archived accounts can be reactivated.

What about overnight fees?

Pepperstone can charge or credit swap and overnight funding when eligible positions remain open through the daily rollover.

The amount varies by instrument and market conditions. If you hold leveraged CFD positions for days or weeks, check the current swap rate before opening the trade. The opening spread alone does not show the full cost.

Pepperstone trading platforms

Platform choice is one of Pepperstone's biggest advantages.

Pepperstone supports:

  • Pepperstone's proprietary web platform and mobile app
  • MetaTrader 4
  • MetaTrader 5
  • cTrader
  • TradingView

MT4 makes sense for traders with existing Expert Advisors, custom indicators or MQL4 workflows.

MT5 is the stronger MetaTrader option for traders who want newer architecture, additional functionality and MQL5 automation.

cTrader is particularly useful for traders who want Level II pricing, market-depth information and algorithmic trading using C#. Pepperstone says cTrader includes more than 50 built-in technical indicators and displays volume and commission information before execution.

TradingView is the natural option for traders who already use TradingView for technical analysis and want charting and execution in the same environment, where supported by their jurisdiction and account type.

Pepperstone's own platform is the simpler route if you do not want to install or learn MetaTrader or cTrader. Its browser platform includes live pricing, one-click trading, watchlists and charting functionality.

Pepperstone also advertises execution from 50 milliseconds and a 99.32% fill rate with no dealer intervention, based on its stated Q1 2026 trading data. These are Pepperstone-reported execution statistics rather than independently audited measurements, so they should be treated as such.

Pepperstone deposits and withdrawals

Pepperstone does not apply one funding rule to every country.

Its global account table lists no fixed minimum deposit for Standard or Razor accounts. Individual payment methods can still impose their own minimums.

Pepperstone's global funding page currently lists a $10 minimum for cards and several major e-wallets. Domestic bank transfers can have no minimum. Your chosen funding method may therefore determine the minimum amount required.

Withdrawal rules also depend on the entity holding your account.

Pepperstone's global withdrawal information says many card and wallet withdrawals are processed internally within one business day, while bank transfers can take longer. The same global entity states that international bank withdrawals incur a $20 charge.

Pepperstone's UK site currently advertises no internal withdrawal fee. That difference is another reason to check your legal entity before comparing costs.

Are there Pepperstone withdrawal complaints?

Yes. Recent public reviews include complaints about withdrawal delays, verification and response times. These reports do not prove that Pepperstone systematically blocks withdrawals.

Trustpilot currently shows Pepperstone with a 4.2/5 TrustScore from thousands of reviews. Its recent feed includes both positive support experiences and complaints about withdrawals and account service.

BrokerChooser's 2026 review also identifies withdrawal delays as a recurring concern in its review of public user discussions. Before depositing a larger balance:

1. Complete KYC accurately. 2. Use payment accounts in your own name. 3. Check which withdrawal method applies to your deposit. 4. Test a smaller withdrawal.

Who is Pepperstone best for?

Pepperstone makes the most sense for active forex and CFD traders.

It is particularly well suited to traders who want tight raw spreads, MetaTrader, cTrader or TradingView, automated strategies, advanced technical analysis and a choice of execution interfaces.

The strongest use cases include forex day trading, scalping, algorithmic trading and active CFD trading.

Pepperstone is much less compelling for somebody who wants to buy shares or ETFs and hold them for 10 or 20 years. Pepperstone's own legal disclosure states that CFD clients do not own or have rights in the underlying assets.

Holding leveraged CFDs for long periods can also make overnight funding increasingly important, so a low entry spread alone does not make Pepperstone the cheapest choice for long-duration positions.

Pepperstone review: final verdict

Pepperstone is a good broker for active forex and CFD trading. Its Razor account is the standout option for traders who care about FX transaction costs.

Pepperstone's case is strongest when you combine competitive Razor pricing, MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradingView, no inactivity fee and regulation across multiple jurisdictions.

Its weakness is straightforward. Pepperstone is built primarily for trading leveraged derivatives, not building a traditional investment portfolio of owned shares and ETFs.

The most important piece of Pepperstone due diligence is therefore not whether MT5 is better than cTrader. It is confirming exactly which Pepperstone legal entity will hold your account and what protection that entity provides.

If Pepperstone fits your trading style, the sensible process is to verify the legal entity, use a demo account first, compare live spreads during the hours you actually trade, calculate the full cost including commission and swaps, and test deposits and withdrawals before committing a larger balance.
