Who should consider it
Currency traders comparing spread-based and commission-based accounts with a specific platform or automation workflow in mind.
What to check first
Confirm regional availability, the regulated entity, leverage limits and rollover costs. Forex and CFD losses can accumulate quickly.
Overview
Admirals is a legitimate, regulated broker and a strong option for traders who want MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5, competitive forex and CFD pricing, and more trading tools than a basic MetaTrader broker normally provides. It is particularly attractive to active MetaTrader users, while traders focused on copy trading or long-term multi-asset investing may find better alternatives elsewhere.
The biggest thing to check before opening an Admirals account is which legal entity will actually hold your account. Admirals operates through different regulated companies, and your investor protection, available products, leverage and fees can change depending on your country. Admirals itself explicitly warns that different companies operate under the Admirals trademark.

Is Admirals legit?
Yes. Admirals is a legitimate financial services group that operates through regulated brokerage companies.
In the United Kingdom, the Financial Conduct Authority identifies Admiral Markets UK Ltd, Firm Reference Number 595450, as the authorised company associated with the official admiralmarkets.com website. The FCA has also warned consumers about unauthorised businesses that try to impersonate Admiral Markets.
That makes the exact website and legal company worth checking before you register. Admirals currently lists these major regulated entities:
- Admiral Markets UK Ltd: authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, FRN 595450.
- Admirals Europe Ltd: authorised and regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission, licence 201/13.
- Admirals SC Ltd: regulated by the Financial Services Authority of Seychelles, licence SD073.
A customer outside the UK or Cyprus does not automatically receive FCA or CySEC protection. The company named in your account agreement determines the rules and protections that apply.
What happened to Admirals' Estonian licence?
Older Admirals reviews may contain outdated regulatory information.
On 28 April 2026, Estonia revoked the investment firm licence of Admiral Markets AS after the company voluntarily applied to give it up as part of a restructuring. Admiral Markets AS stopped servicing clients directly, and Estonian clients were moved to Cyprus-regulated Admirals Europe Ltd.
The regulatory announcement described the move as a consolidation of EU investment services, not a complete withdrawal from Estonia.
The practical point is simple: do not rely on an old licence list copied from another broker review. Check the legal entity shown during your own registration.
Is Admirals safe?
Admirals has meaningful regulatory safeguards, but “regulated” should not be confused with risk-free.
For example, Admirals Europe Ltd states that client money is held in segregated accounts at regulated EU credit institutions. Eligible clients under that entity can also receive coverage from the Cyprus Investor Compensation Fund up to €20,000.
UK clients dealing through Admiral Markets UK Ltd operate under the FCA framework. Clients elsewhere may be contracted through another entity with different protections.
There is also a financial point worth knowing.
Admirals Group AS reported €17.4 million of net trading income and an €18.5 million net loss for 2025, compared with a €1.6 million loss in 2024. Active clients fell to 29,455. The group said performance was affected by lower trading activity and the impact of a temporary pause in EU client onboarding.
Admirals Europe temporarily paused new EU client onboarding in 2024 while implementing changes following CySEC supervisory engagement. EU onboarding resumed in March 2025.
A corporate loss does not by itself mean client money is unsafe, particularly where client assets are segregated. It is still material information that deserves to appear in a serious Admirals review rather than being ignored because it makes the affiliate CTA less pretty.
Admirals fees and spreads
Admirals offers two fundamentally different CFD pricing models: wider spreads without a separate forex commission on Trade accounts, or spreads starting from zero plus commission on Zero accounts.
Under the current Admirals Europe account schedule:
Trade.MT5
- Published forex spread
- From 0.5 pips
- Forex commission
- No separate commission on most instruments
- Best suited to
- Simpler pricing
Zero.MT5
- Published forex spread
- From 0 pips
- Forex commission
- From $1.80 to $3 per lot, per side depending on monthly volume
- Best suited to
- Higher-frequency and cost-sensitive traders
Invest.MT5
- Published forex spread
- Not a CFD forex account
- Forex commission
- Stock/ETF dealing charges apply
- Best suited to
- Share and ETF investors
For Zero.MT5, the headline “0 pip” spread should never be read as “free trading”.
At the highest published commission tier of $3 per lot per side, opening and closing a one-lot forex trade costs $6 in commission before any spread or slippage is included. Higher-volume clients can qualify for lower commission rates.
That means the correct comparison is always: spread + round-turn commission + financing + slippage rather than simply comparing the minimum advertised spread.
Cost of one EUR/USD lot by Admirals account
Published spread converted at $10 per pip on a standard lot, plus commission on both sides. Zero.MT5 only undercuts Trade.MT5 once monthly volume pulls its commission down from $3 a side to $1.80.
Does Admirals charge an inactivity fee?
Yes, under the current Admirals Europe fee schedule.
An €10 monthly fee can apply when:
The fee is unlikely to affect active traders. It matters more if you plan to deposit money and leave the account mostly unused.
Does Admirals charge currency conversion fees?
For the Admirals Europe entity, stocks, ETFs, stock CFDs and ETF CFDs denominated in a currency different from the account's base currency are subject to a 0.3% currency conversion fee under the current terms.
Investors buying foreign securities should include that cost when comparing Admirals with investment brokers that specialise in international portfolios.
Admirals trading platforms
Admirals supports:
Admirals supports:
- MetaTrader 4
- MetaTrader 5
- MetaTrader WebTrader
- Admirals Platform
- Admirals mobile app for iOS and Android
MetaTrader is the main reason to consider Admirals. The broker adds tools to the standard MT4 and MT5 experience rather than offering only the default platforms.
MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5
MT4 remains useful for traders who already use MQL4 Expert Advisors, indicators or established strategies.
MT5 offers more order types, timeframes and market functions. It also supports a wider selection of asset classes. Admirals supports both hedging and netting on MT5, while MT4 is focused on hedging.
For a new Admirals customer without an existing MT4 setup, MT5 is the more practical default.
MetaTrader Supreme Edition
Admirals' main difference from a basic MetaTrader broker is MetaTrader Supreme Edition.
Admirals advertises more than 60 tools, including:
- Mini Terminal
- Trade Terminal
- Tick Chart Trader
- Sentiment Trader
- Trading Simulator
- Spread Recorder
- Pivot Point and Keltner Channel tools
Supreme Edition is available for Admirals MT4 and MT5 accounts without a separate charge.
For active MetaTrader users, these tools may matter more than a small difference in the advertised spread.
Does Admirals offer copy trading?
No. Admirals does not currently offer its own built-in copy trading or social trading service.
That is a clear weakness if copying other traders is central to your strategy.
Pepperstone is worth comparing because it supports copy trading options for MT4 and MT5 users. Its cTrader offering also includes cTrader Copy.
What markets can you trade with Admirals?
Admirals provides access to a broad mix of leveraged and investment products, although the exact range varies by account and jurisdiction.
Current Admirals Europe terms include CFDs covering:
- forex
- stock indices
- individual shares
- commodities
- metals
- energies
- cryptocurrency markets
- futures-based instruments
Trade.MT5 currently lists 80 currency pairs and more than 2,400 stock CFDs under the European account schedule.
Invest.MT5 is different. It is designed for investing in stocks and ETFs rather than trading leveraged forex CFDs, and the current European account table lists more than 3,900 stocks and 200 ETFs.
That distinction matters.
Someone searching for a forex broker should evaluate Trade.MT5 or Zero.MT5.
Someone primarily wanting to build a long-term international securities portfolio should compare Invest.MT5 against specialist investment brokers rather than assuming all Admirals accounts are interchangeable.
Admirals deposits and withdrawals
Deposits are generally straightforward, but withdrawal costs depend on the method and frequency.
Under the current Admirals Europe terms, bank transfer, Visa, Mastercard and several supported payment services can be used without an Admirals deposit fee. An external bank or payment provider may still charge its own fee.
Admirals Europe provides one free withdrawal per calendar month for each supported payment method under its European fee structure. Further withdrawals may incur a charge. Admirals says eligible withdrawal requests received before 18:00 EET on a business day are processed on the same business day. Requests received later, at weekends or on public holidays are processed on the next business day.
That refers to Admirals' processing time. It does not guarantee when the money will reach your bank or card.
Admirals may also request documents about the source of funds before completing a payment. This matters when reading complaints about delayed withdrawals. A request for more documents and a refusal to return funds are not the same thing.
What do Admirals customers say?
Admirals had a Trustpilot score of 4.1 out of 5 from 2,164 reviews when checked in September 2026. Trustpilot showed 75% of ratings at five stars and 11% at one star.
Positive reviews often mention:
- responsive customer support
- straightforward deposits
- trading conditions
- long-term use of the broker
Negative reviews include complaints about:
- withdrawals
- dividend-payment delays
- account restrictions
- platform or execution issues
- documentation requirements
Customer reviews can help identify recurring service problems. They cannot show that every trade will execute correctly or that every withdrawal will be instant.
Use the score alongside the broker's regulation, account terms and legal entity information.
Admirals pros and cons
Advantages of Admirals
- Strong MetaTrader offering: MT4 and MT5 are complemented by Supreme Edition rather than being offered in their bare default form.
- Flexible pricing: Traders can choose between spread-based Trade accounts and commission-based Zero accounts.
- Regulated entities: Admirals currently operates regulated entities including FCA and CySEC-authorised companies.
- Broad market access: Forex, CFDs, stocks and ETFs are available depending on the account and jurisdiction.
- Low entry point for investing: Invest.MT5 currently starts from €1 or $1 under Admirals Europe terms.
- One free monthly withdrawal: Useful for traders who withdraw periodically rather than constantly.
Disadvantages of Admirals
- No built-in copy trading: A meaningful weakness if social or copy trading is important.
- Inactivity fee: €10 per month can apply after two years under current EU terms.
- Repeated withdrawals can cost money: One withdrawal per payment method per calendar month is free under current European terms, then charges may apply.
- Regulatory structure requires attention: The Admirals brand does not automatically tell you which legal company is holding your money.
- Recent corporate restructuring: Old reviews can contain obsolete regulatory information.
- Recent group losses: Admirals Group reported a substantial loss for 2025, which investors should know even though it does not by itself imply client funds are at risk.
Who is Admirals best for?
Admirals is best for traders who already know they want MetaTrader.
The strongest use cases are:
- Forex and CFD traders using MT4 or MT5. Supreme Edition adds genuine functionality to the MetaTrader ecosystem.
- Active traders comparing spread-only and commission pricing. Trade.MT5 and Zero.MT5 let traders choose the cost structure that better matches their volume.
- Traders using Expert Advisors and automated MetaTrader strategies. Both MetaTrader platforms support algorithmic trading.
- Traders who want multiple asset classes without leaving MetaTrader. MT5 in particular gives Admirals a broader proposition than a pure forex broker.
Who should probably choose another broker?
Admirals is not the best fit for every trader.
Copy traders: Pepperstone is worth comparing because it provides copy trading options for MT4 and MT5 users, along with cTrader Copy through its cTrader offering.
Traders who want a proprietary platform: IG is worth comparing. It offers its own web platform as well as ProRealTime, L2 Dealer and MetaTrader 4.
Long-term global investors: Interactive Brokers is a stronger comparison when the priority is direct access to stocks, options, futures, currencies, bonds and funds across international exchanges. IBKR advertises access to more than 170 markets in 40 countries.
Admirals is most compelling when MetaTrader is useful to your strategy. If you do not need MetaTrader, much of its advantage disappears.
Is Admirals good for beginners?
Admirals can work for beginners, but it is better suited to a beginner who wants to learn serious trading tools than somebody who wants the simplest possible investing app.
Admirals provides demo accounts and supports both MT4 and MT5, allowing new users to practise with virtual funds before trading live.
The downside is that MetaTrader has considerably more complexity than a stripped-down mobile investment app.
A beginner who expects to progress into charting, forex, CFDs or algorithmic trading may appreciate that depth. Someone who simply wants to buy a diversified ETF each month probably does not need it.
What is the minimum deposit at Admirals?
There is no single global minimum deposit. The amount depends on the account type and legal entity.
Under the current Admirals Europe schedule:
- Trade.MT5 starts from €100 or $100, with equivalent minimums in supported currencies.
- Zero.MT5 starts from €100 or $100.
- Invest.MT5 starts from €1 or $1.
Check the amount displayed during registration because another Admirals entity may use different terms.
Is Admirals regulated by the FCA?
Admiral Markets UK Ltd is authorised and regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority under Firm Reference Number 595450.
An Admirals account opened outside the UK is not automatically FCA-regulated. Your account documents should identify the company providing the service.
Admirals review: final verdict
Admirals is worth considering if you want a regulated MetaTrader broker with competitive pricing, broad market coverage and genuinely useful MT4 and MT5 enhancements.
Its strongest combination is MetaTrader 5 + Supreme Edition + either Trade.MT5 or Zero.MT5, selected according to your trading frequency and all-in trading cost.
I would be less enthusiastic if copy trading is your priority, if you want the simplest possible mobile investment experience, or if you are primarily building a long-term portfolio rather than actively trading.
Before depositing, make three checks:
- Identify the legal entity. Confirm exactly which Admirals company will hold your account and verify its licence directly with the regulator.
- Calculate your real trading cost. Compare spread plus round-turn commission, not the headline minimum spread.
- Read your local payment terms. Check withdrawal fees, currency conversion costs and available funding methods for your specific entity.
If those three checks stack up for your country and your trading style, Admirals is a credible shortlist broker, particularly for MT4 and MT5 traders.
This version deliberately gives the regulatory restructuring and 2025 financials proper weight, because that is where a 2026 page can create actual information gain over the stale “regulated + MT5 + 0 pips” reviews currently cluttering the SERP.
