Who should consider it

Currency traders comparing spread-based and commission-based accounts with a specific platform or automation workflow in mind.

What to check first

Confirm regional availability, the regulated entity, leverage limits and rollover costs. Forex and CFD losses can accumulate quickly.

Overview

Axi is a legitimate forex and CFD broker that is strongest for active traders who want MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5, competitive Pro account pricing and access to automated trading tools. The main catch is that the protection you receive depends heavily on which Axi legal entity holds your account.

Axi operates through regulated entities including Axi Financial Services (UK) Limited, authorised by the UK Financial Conduct Authority, and AxiCorp Financial Services Pty Ltd, which holds an Australian Financial Services Licence. Axi also operates regulated entities in Cyprus, New Zealand and Dubai. International clients may instead contract with AxiTrader LLC in St Vincent and the Grenadines, where the protection framework is materially different.

Our verdict: Axi is a strong candidate for forex and CFD traders who specifically want MT4, MT5, Expert Advisors and relatively aggressive trading conditions. We would be more cautious if the account is being opened through the St Vincent entity rather than one of Axi's more strongly regulated regional companies.

Information and terms checked 11 September 2026. Products, leverage, fees and regulatory protections vary by country and account entity.

Is Axi legit and safe?

Yes, Axi is a legitimate broker, but “Is Axi safe?” cannot be answered properly without identifying the Axi company that will actually hold your account.

Axi is a brand used by several legal entities. They do not all offer identical investor protections.

Region or entityRegulatory positionImportant point
United KingdomAxi Financial Services (UK) Limited is FCA authorised, FRN 466201Retail clients receive FCA protections including negative balance protection
AustraliaAxiCorp Financial Services Pty Ltd holds AFSL 318232Australian retail clients receive negative balance protection
New ZealandAxiCorp holds derivatives issuer licence FSP518226FMA lists the licence as active
European UnionSolaris EMEA Ltd is regulated by CySEC, licence 433/23EU retail rules include negative balance protection
DubaiAxiCorp Financial Services Pty Ltd DIFC Branch is regulated by the DFSADFSA register confirms its retail endorsement
InternationalAxiTrader LLC is incorporated and registered in St Vincent and the GrenadinesProtection is not equivalent to FCA, ASIC or CySEC retail regulation

The FCA entity confirms that retail client money is held in segregated bank accounts. Axi's Australian material also states that retail clients receive negative balance protection.

The distinction becomes particularly important for international customers. Axi states that clients trading under its St Vincent structure do not receive negative balance protection and can therefore be liable for losses beyond the money deposited.

That means the sensible due-diligence question is not simply “Is Axi regulated?”

It is:

Which Axi company will be my contractual counterparty, and what protections apply to that specific account?

Check this before depositing money.

Axi fees and spreads

The Axi Pro account is more suitable for active traders who are comfortable paying a separate commission. The Standard account is simpler because the trading charge is included in the spread. Axi currently publishes these figures on its international account pages:

Availability varies by jurisdiction. Higher-tier accounts may also have eligibility requirements. Potentially, yes. The Pro account can be cheaper for active forex traders when its spread and commission are compared on an all-in basis. A $4.50 round-trip commission on one standard lot of EUR/USD equals about 0.45 pips, assuming a $10 pip value.

Standard

Elite

EUR/USD spread from

Using Axi's published minimums: The 0.0-pip figure is a minimum spread, not a promise that EUR/USD will trade continuously at zero spread. Compare the realised spread, commission and any other applicable charges for the instruments and trade sizes you use.

Is the Axi Pro account cheaper than Standard?

Potentially, yes, particularly for active forex traders.

A $4.50 round-trip commission on one standard lot of EUR/USD equates to approximately 0.45 pips, assuming a $10 pip value.

That creates a useful way to compare the accounts:

  • Standard published floor: approximately 0.68 pips with no commission.
  • Pro theoretical floor: 0.0-pip spread plus approximately 0.45 pips of commission-equivalent cost.
  • The difference at those published minimums is approximately 0.23 pips in favour of Pro.

That does not mean every Pro trade costs 0.45 pips. Axi's “from 0.0 pips” figure is a minimum spread, not a guarantee that EUR/USD will continuously trade at zero spread.

For serious comparison, use all-in realised cost, not the broker's headline minimum spread.

Does Axi charge overnight fees?

Yes, Axi can charge financing or swap costs when leveraged positions remain open overnight. The amount depends on the instrument, trade direction and applicable rate.

Axi also offers swap-free accounts in eligible markets. These accounts can have separate holding charges, so swap-free does not mean every overnight cost is removed.

Does Axi charge an inactivity fee?

Yes, an inactivity fee can apply after 12 consecutive months without trading activity or open positions. Axi says it then deducts the fee monthly, with the amount depending on the account currency.

Axi does not charge a normal maintenance fee on active trading accounts.

Does Axi charge withdrawal fees?

This deserves more caution because Axi's own current documentation is not completely consistent.

One Axi help article updated in 2026 says standard deposits and withdrawals are not charged by Axi, although banks, payment providers and blockchain networks can impose third-party costs. Another Axi help article states that withdrawals above $50, or full-balance withdrawals, are free but that an administration fee of $25 may apply below that threshold.

The safest approach is to check the withdrawal terms displayed in your Axi Client Portal and the current Product Schedule for your legal entity before funding the account.

That is more reliable than assuming one global withdrawal policy applies everywhere.

What is the Axi minimum deposit?

There is no single Axi minimum deposit that applies to every account, payment method and country.

Axi's Standard and Pro account comparison currently recommends a $100 deposit, while individual funding methods can have much smaller transaction minimums. For example, Axi lists minimum card deposits of $5 and PayPal deposits of $10 in its global funding documentation. Another Axi support page recommends funding an account with at least $200 so there is sufficient capital to satisfy margin requirements.

So a useful distinction is:

Technical deposit minimum: determined by payment method and jurisdiction.

Practical trading deposit: determined by margin requirements, position size and the risk management of the strategy being traded.

Being able to deposit $5 does not mean $5 is a sensible trading balance.

What trading platforms does Axi offer?

Axi offers MT4, MT5 and its own Axi Trading Platform. Platform access varies by jurisdiction. Axi currently supports: MT4 is a strong reason to consider Axi if your strategy depends on Expert Advisors, custom indicators, VPS hosting or an existing MetaTrader workflow. Axi supports EAs on its MetaTrader accounts and integrates tools such as Autochartist.

Axi currently supports:

  • MetaTrader 4 on desktop, web and mobile
  • MetaTrader 5 on desktop, web and mobile in supported regions
  • Axi Trading Platform on web and mobile
  • Axi Copy Trading in eligible markets

MetaTrader 4

MT4 remains a strong reason to consider Axi if your strategy depends on Expert Advisors, custom indicators, VPS hosting or an existing MetaTrader workflow.

Axi supports EAs on its MetaTrader accounts and also integrates tools such as Autochartist.

MetaTrader 5

Axi has expanded its MT5 offering and currently promotes MT5 as a multi-asset platform with more advanced market depth, charting and automation capabilities than MT4.

However, MT5 is not available to every Axi client in every country. Axi's own support documentation says availability remains jurisdiction-dependent.

Axi Trading Platform

Axi also has a proprietary platform with web and mobile access and TradingView-powered charting.

There is an important limitation: an Axi Trading Platform account is separate from an MT4 or MT5 account. Trades and accounts do not automatically carry between the systems.

Axi also says its proprietary platform does not currently support adding Expert Advisors, VPS services or custom indicators in the same way MetaTrader does.

For algorithmic traders, MT4 or MT5 is therefore the more logical Axi setup.

What can you trade with Axi?

Axi's core business is leveraged forex and CFD trading.

Depending on your region and chosen platform, markets can include:

  • Forex currency pairs
  • Stock CFDs
  • Equity index CFDs
  • Commodities such as gold and oil
  • Cryptocurrency CFDs
  • ETFs and other markets in eligible regions
  • Spot cryptocurrency and crypto perpetual products on parts of Axi's international offering

The exact product count varies substantially between platforms and jurisdictions. For example, Axi's UK website currently advertises more than 450 markets, while its global pages promote a broader product universe.

This is another area where a generic “Axi offers X instruments” number can be misleading.

Check the product schedule attached to the account you can actually open.

How much leverage does Axi offer?

Axi leverage ranges from regulated retail limits such as 30:1 to as much as 1000:1 on some international accounts.

UK retail accounts are capped at 30:1 under the FCA-regulated offering. Axi's CySEC retail accounts also have a 30:1 limit.

Axi's international account pages advertise leverage of up to 1000:1 on some Standard and Pro accounts.

High leverage increases exposure relative to deposited capital. A small market movement can therefore cause a large loss, especially when the account has little spare margin.

If regulatory protection matters more than maximum leverage, an Axi entity with a lower leverage limit may be the better choice.

What are the main advantages and disadvantages of Axi?

What Axi does well

Competitive Pro pricing: Published EUR/USD spreads start from 0.0 pips with a $4.50 round-trip commission per lot.

Strong MetaTrader support: Axi is particularly relevant to traders using MT4, MT5, EAs and automated strategies.

Multiple regulated entities: FCA, ASIC, FMA, CySEC and DFSA-regulated companies or branches give many customers access to meaningful regional oversight.

Choice of trading interfaces: Traders can choose between MetaTrader and Axi's own web and mobile platform.

No normal maintenance charge: Active accounts are not charged a standard account maintenance fee.

What to consider before opening an Axi account

Protection depends on jurisdiction: An FCA-regulated Axi account and an AxiTrader LLC international account should not be evaluated as though they are the same thing.

International leverage can be extremely high: Up to 1000:1 may appeal to aggressive traders but materially increases risk.

The proprietary platform is separate from MetaTrader: Existing MT4/MT5 accounts cannot simply be managed through Axi's own platform.

Some fees and account conditions vary by region: Withdrawal terms, platform availability, products and deposit requirements need to be checked against the current regional Product Schedule.

Axi is primarily a trading broker: Investors whose main objective is buying and holding real shares and ETFs for years may be better served by a conventional investment platform rather than a CFD-focused broker.

Who is Axi best for?

Axi is best suited to active forex or CFD traders who want MetaTrader support, algorithmic trading and spread-plus-commission pricing.

Axi may suit you if you:

  • Already trade through MT4 or MT5
  • Use Expert Advisors or automated strategies
  • Prefer raw-style pricing with a separate commission
  • Trade forex, indices, commodities or CFDs actively
  • Can open the account under an Axi entity whose regulatory protections meet your requirements

Axi is less suitable if your main goal is passive long-term investing, holding a large portfolio of physical equities and ETFs, or combining maximum investor protection with very high leverage.

Axi review verdict

Axi is a credible broker with competitive trading conditions, but the legal entity matters as much as the brand.

For an eligible trader opening an account under the FCA, ASIC, FMA, CySEC or another well-supervised Axi entity, the combination of MT4, MT5, Pro pricing and a business founded in 2007 makes Axi worth shortlisting.

International clients routed through AxiTrader LLC in St Vincent need to examine the account structure more closely. Axi says these accounts do not include negative balance protection, while their leverage can be much higher than the limits under FCA or CySEC retail rules.

Choose Axi for its trading conditions and MetaTrader access. Choose the legal entity first and the account type second.

Before depositing, verify the company named in your account agreement, confirm its regulator, read the current Product Schedule and calculate your likely all-in trading cost. Do not rely only on the advertised minimum spread.

Is Axi a scam?

No. Axi is an established brokerage group founded in 2007 with entities authorised by regulators including the UK Financial Conduct Authority and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission. However, traders should verify which Axi legal entity their account belongs to because protections vary by country.

Is Axi good for beginners?

Axi can work for beginners because it offers demo accounts, educational material and a commission-free Standard account. Beginners should pay particular attention to leverage. A simpler account interface does not make leveraged CFD trading low risk.

Does Axi have MT5?

Yes. Axi offers MetaTrader 5 alongside MetaTrader 4 and its proprietary Axi Trading Platform. MT5 availability remains country-dependent, so some clients may not see it as an account option.

Is Axi better on Standard or Pro?

The Axi Standard account is simpler because its trading charge is built into the spread. The Axi Pro account is generally more attractive to active traders because spreads can start from 0.0 pips, although a $4.50 round-trip commission per lot applies. Compare the total spread plus commission at the sizes and instruments you actually trade rather than choosing solely from the headline spread.
