Pepperstone is the best direct AvaTrade alternative for most active forex and CFD traders. IG is the stronger alternative for UK spread betting and market coverage, Interactive Brokers is better if you want real stocks, options and futures, XTB is better for combining CFDs with stock and ETF investing, and eToro is the strongest alternative if copy trading is your priority.

AvaTrade itself is still a credible broker. It supports MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, AvaTrade's own platforms and specialist products such as AvaOptions, while the standard minimum initial deposit is currently 100 units of the account's base currency.

The reason to choose an AvaTrade alternative is therefore usually not that AvaTrade is unusable. It is because another broker does a specific job better.

My picks are:

  1. Pepperstone: best overall AvaTrade alternative for active forex and CFD trading
  2. IG: best AvaTrade alternative for UK traders and broader CFD market access
  3. Interactive Brokers: best alternative for serious multi-asset trading and investing
  4. XTB: best alternative for combining CFDs with real stocks and ETFs
  5. eToro: best AvaTrade alternative for copy and social trading

If you primarily trade forex through MT4 or MT5, I would start with Pepperstone.

If you want to own investments rather than simply trade CFDs on their prices, I would move towards Interactive Brokers or XTB instead.

Product availability, regulation and investor protections vary by country. The relevant comparison is the legal entity that would actually hold your account, not simply the broker's global brand.

1. Pepperstone: best overall AvaTrade alternative

AvaTrade and Pepperstone overlap heavily.

Both target forex and CFD traders. Both support MT4 and MT5. Both operate internationally through regulated entities.

Pepperstone separates itself through its platform choice and Razor pricing model.

Current Pepperstone platforms include:

  • MetaTrader 4
  • MetaTrader 5
  • cTrader
  • TradingView
  • Pepperstone's proprietary web and mobile platform

Pepperstone also supports Expert Advisors, algorithmic strategies and API connectivity.

AvaTrade offers MT4 and MT5, but if cTrader or direct TradingView integration is central to your workflow, Pepperstone immediately becomes more attractive.

Pepperstone vs AvaTrade for forex fees

Pepperstone currently advertises Razor forex spreads from 0.0 pips.

More useful than the minimum is the actual published average.

Pepperstone's August 2026 data shows:

EUR/USD

Razor minimum spread

AUD/USD 0.0 pips 0.1 pips
GBP/USD 0.0 pips 0.2 pips
USD/JPY 0.0 pips 0.2 pips
USD/CHF 0.0 pips 0.2 pips

On MT4 and MT5, a USD Razor account currently charges $3.50 per standard FX lot per side, or $7 round trip.

That gives us a more useful calculation.

On one standard lot of EUR/USD, one pip is approximately $10.

At Pepperstone's August 2026 average 0.1-pip Razor spread:

Spread cost: approximately $1

Round-trip commission: $7

Approximate all-in trading cost: $8, or about 0.8 pips equivalent

That is the number an active trader should compare with their actual AvaTrade spread, rather than comparing two marketing claims saying "from" a particular number.

Actual spreads fluctuate, so your own trading hours and instruments still matter.

Pepperstone has two pricing models

Pepperstone's Standard account has no separate FX commission. Instead, the trading cost is incorporated into the spread.

The Razor account provides tighter raw FX spreads with commission added separately.

Pepperstone currently states that its Standard forex pricing includes a one-pip markup, while Razor FX commission starts from $3.50 per standard lot per side.

That lets you choose the model that fits your strategy.

I'd use Standard if simplicity matters more than shaving trading costs.

I'd test Razor if turnover is high enough that every fraction of a pip matters.

Pepperstone has a much lower entry requirement

Pepperstone currently advertises a $10 minimum deposit, compared with AvaTrade's standard $100 minimum initial deposit.

I would not choose a broker based on a $90 difference in minimum deposit.

Anyone actively trading leveraged forex should capitalise the account according to risk, not whatever minimum number the broker allows.

The difference does, however, make Pepperstone easier to test with a small live account before committing significant capital.

Pepperstone regulation

Pepperstone operates through multiple regulated entities.

Its current legal disclosures include:

  • Pepperstone Limited, regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority under FRN 684312
  • Pepperstone Group Limited, regulated by ASIC under AFSL 414530
  • Pepperstone Financial Services (DIFC) Ltd, regulated by the DFSA under F004356

Other entities serve other regions.

Always check which entity your application is assigned to because protections and leverage can differ by jurisdiction.

Who should choose Pepperstone instead of AvaTrade?

Choose Pepperstone if your priority is:

  • tighter active-trader forex pricing
  • cTrader
  • TradingView
  • MetaTrader algorithmic trading
  • API connectivity
  • scalping or higher-frequency discretionary trading
  • testing both spread-only and raw-spread pricing

For a trader asking me for the closest high-quality AvaTrade alternative, Pepperstone is the first broker I'd investigate.

2. IG: best AvaTrade alternative for UK traders

IG is fundamentally a broader trading operation than AvaTrade.

IG currently provides access to more than 15,000 markets, with instruments spanning forex, indices, commodities, shares, ETFs, options and other specialist markets.

That range is one of the biggest reasons to switch.

If your AvaTrade account covers every market you actually trade, having thousands of extra instruments is irrelevant.

If you regularly hit the boundaries of AvaTrade's catalogue, it matters enormously.

IG has a stronger specialist platform ecosystem

IG supports its own web and mobile platforms plus:

  • MetaTrader 4
  • TradingView
  • ProRealTime
  • L2 Dealer

Its specialist platforms target different trader types. ProRealTime is built around advanced charting, L2 Dealer around direct-market-access style share trading, and MT4 around forex and algorithmic trading.

This gives IG a much broader technology stack than a trader simply choosing between AvaTradeGO, MT4 and MT5.

IG is particularly compelling for UK spread betting

IG currently advertises spread betting across approximately 16,000 markets and supports it through its proprietary platform as well as selected third-party platforms.

UK spread-betting tax treatment can differ from CFD trading, although tax treatment depends on individual circumstances and can change.

That product alone can be enough to make IG the more logical choice for a UK trader.

IG forex pricing

IG currently advertises minimum MT4 forex spreads including:

Pair Minimum spread
EUR/USD 0.6 pips
USD/JPY 0.7 pips
EUR/GBP 0.9 pips
GBP/USD 0.9 pips

Spread on the majors

AvaTrade's advertised minimum against Pepperstone's Razor average. Razor adds a separate commission.

EUR/USD
0.6 pips
0.1 pips
USD/JPY
0.7 pips
0.2 pips
GBP/USD
0.9 pips
0.2 pips
10.50

IG's current help documentation reports an EUR/USD average MT4 spread of approximately 0.85 pips during its stated core measurement period.

Unlike Pepperstone Razor, this is primarily a spread-cost comparison rather than raw spread plus separate FX commission.

Again, compare the all-in cost, not simply whichever homepage has the smallest "from" number.

IG regulation

IG Markets Limited is authorised and regulated by the UK Financial Conduct Authority under registration number 195355. Other IG entities operate in different jurisdictions.

IG's UK group also contains separately regulated entities for spread betting and investment services.

Who should choose IG over AvaTrade?

I would choose IG instead if you want:

  • UK spread betting
  • considerably broader market coverage
  • ProRealTime
  • L2 Dealer
  • TradingView
  • advanced proprietary platforms
  • a broker with a particularly deep UK trading presence

IG is not necessarily the cheapest direct substitute for an MT4 forex trader. Pepperstone is the better comparison for that job.

IG wins when breadth and trading infrastructure matter more.

3. Interactive Brokers: best AvaTrade alternative for serious multi-asset trading

This is not an apples-to-apples replacement.

That is exactly why it deserves to be on the list.

AvaTrade primarily centres its offering around forex, CFDs and FX options. Interactive Brokers gives clients access to actual exchange-traded and other financial products including:

  • stocks
  • ETFs
  • options
  • futures
  • currencies
  • bonds
  • mutual funds

Interactive Brokers currently advertises access to 170 markets across 40 countries, with accounts capable of holding and trading multiple currencies.

That fundamentally changes what the account can be used for.

Interactive Brokers is better if you actually want to own assets

Suppose you want exposure to Apple.

With a CFD-focused broker, you may be trading a derivative whose price tracks Apple shares.

With a traditional securities account, you can buy the underlying shares themselves.

Those are not interchangeable products.

The same distinction becomes even more important if you want:

  • long-term stock investing
  • ETFs
  • exchange-traded options
  • Treasury bonds
  • futures
  • portfolio margin
  • international diversification
  • securities lending
  • professional trading APIs

AvaTrade is designed primarily as a leveraged trading venue.

Interactive Brokers can function as the core brokerage account for an entire investment portfolio.

Interactive Brokers has no standard account minimum

Interactive Brokers currently states that its offering has no account minimum, although individual products have their own margin and trading requirements.

That does not mean it is designed around tiny speculative accounts.

In practice, IBKR becomes more compelling as the sophistication of the portfolio increases.

Interactive Brokers is more complex than AvaTrade

This is the trade-off.

AvaTrade is easier to understand for someone whose objective is:

"I want to trade EUR/USD and gold through MT5."

Interactive Brokers is designed to accommodate considerably more instruments, order types, exchanges and portfolio-management requirements.

That extra functionality creates complexity.

If you only want a straightforward forex CFD broker, I would choose Pepperstone before Interactive Brokers.

If you want one account for serious multi-asset trading and investing, I would choose Interactive Brokers before AvaTrade.

4. XTB: best AvaTrade alternative for stocks, ETFs and CFDs

XTB currently offers both cash stocks and stock CFDs.

Its current UK and European-facing documentation states that clients can access more than 7,100 stocks from 16 major global exchanges.

That is the main reason XTB belongs in a different category from AvaTrade.

XTB stock and ETF fees

XTB currently charges 0% trading commission on real stocks and ETFs up to €100,000 of cumulative monthly turnover.

After the monthly threshold is exceeded, the standard commission becomes 0.2%, subject to a €10 equivalent minimum.

A 0.5% currency-conversion fee can also apply when the investment trades in a different currency from the account's base currency.

That means the "0% commission" headline requires context.

For example, a GBP-based account buying US stocks may avoid an execution commission while still paying a currency-conversion cost.

A 0.5% conversion on £10,000 is £50.

Currency handling can therefore matter more than the headline stock commission.

XTB no longer offers MT4 or MT5

This is probably the most important limitation for someone migrating from AvaTrade.

XTB does not currently support MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5 for new clients.

XTB now centres its offering on its proprietary XTB/xStation platform, available through web and mobile applications.

That makes the decision easy if you rely on MetaTrader Expert Advisors.

Do not move from AvaTrade to XTB expecting to transfer an MT4 or MT5 algorithm and continue as normal.

You cannot.

Pepperstone is the far more natural alternative in that situation.

Who should choose XTB over AvaTrade?

Choose XTB if you want:

  • real stocks
  • real ETFs
  • CFDs in the same ecosystem
  • a polished proprietary platform
  • long-term investing alongside shorter-term trading
  • commission-free stock and ETF trading within the published monthly threshold

Avoid XTB if your workflow depends on:

  • MT4
  • MT5
  • MetaTrader Expert Advisors
  • cTrader

XTB is a better investment-platform alternative to AvaTrade, but a worse MetaTrader replacement.

5. eToro: best AvaTrade alternative for copy trading

AvaTrade offers its own social and copy functionality.

eToro has built a much larger proportion of its identity around that exact use case.

Its CopyTrader system lets users allocate capital to an approved Popular Investor and automatically replicate that investor's portfolio activity.

The current minimum allocation to copy one investor is $200, and eToro currently permits users to copy up to 100 investors simultaneously.

There is no separate CopyTrader subscription charge, although the normal spreads and transaction costs of the copied investments still apply.

eToro is not a MetaTrader replacement

This is the crucial distinction.

If you are searching for an AvaTrade alternative because you want another MT4 or MT5 broker, eToro would not be my choice.

Its proposition is fundamentally different.

eToro's strength is the combination of:

  • proprietary web and mobile trading
  • CopyTrader
  • social investing
  • stocks and ETFs
  • crypto in eligible jurisdictions
  • an ecosystem built around following other investors

Its weakness is that an advanced trader who has built their entire workflow around MetaTrader, cTrader or external execution software has much less reason to move there.

eToro offers underlying investments in some jurisdictions

eToro's current disclosures state that its regulated entities offer products including stocks and ETFs where the customer gains ownership of the underlying asset, although product availability differs between jurisdictions.

Leveraged and short positions may instead be implemented as CFDs.

This makes eToro broader than a pure CFD platform, but you need to look at the actual instrument displayed in the order ticket.

Do not assume every "stock" position on any hybrid investing platform represents direct ownership.

eToro regulation

eToro operates through multiple regulated entities.

Its disclosures currently identify, among others:

  • eToro Europe Ltd, regulated by CySEC
  • eToro UK Ltd, regulated by the FCA
  • eToro AUS Capital Limited, regulated by ASIC

eToro Europe also holds a MiCA authorisation from CySEC for eligible crypto-asset services in the European Economic Area.

Who should choose eToro instead of AvaTrade?

I would choose eToro if:

  • copy trading is the primary objective
  • you want to discover and follow other investors
  • social trading matters more than MetaTrader
  • you want stocks and ETFs alongside copy functionality
  • you prefer a proprietary consumer-focused platform

I would not choose it specifically for scalping, MT5 automation or advanced forex execution.

Is Pepperstone better than AvaTrade?

Pepperstone's major advantages are:

  • Razor raw-spread pricing
  • cTrader
  • TradingView
  • MT4 and MT5
  • API support
  • algorithmic-trading infrastructure
  • a much smaller minimum deposit

Pepperstone's current Razor account publishes an average August 2026 EUR/USD spread of 0.1 pips, with USD MT4/MT5 commission of $3.50 per standard lot per side.

AvaTrade's differentiators include its own mobile ecosystem, AvaOptions, AvaSocial and other proprietary features alongside MT4 and MT5.

For pure active FX trading, my pick is Pepperstone.

Which AvaTrade alternative has the lowest forex spreads?

Its Razor account advertises spreads from 0.0 pips, with August 2026 average spreads of 0.1 pips on EUR/USD and AUD/USD and 0.2 pips on GBP/USD, USD/JPY and several other majors.

Do not confuse raw spread with total trading cost.

Commission still needs adding.

For a one-standard-lot EUR/USD MT4/MT5 Razor trade in a USD account:

0.1-pip average spread ≈ $1

Commission ≈ $7 round trip

Indicative combined cost ≈ $8

That calculation is more useful than saying "0.0 pips" because traders rarely execute every trade at a broker's theoretical minimum spread.

Which AvaTrade alternative is best for MT4 and MT5?

It supports both MetaTrader versions plus cTrader and TradingView, while retaining support for Expert Advisors and automated strategies.

IG also supports MT4, but its broader proprietary and specialist platform ecosystem is arguably the bigger reason to use IG.

XTB does not currently support either MT4 or MT5.

Interactive Brokers and eToro operate around their own platform ecosystems rather than trying to compete as mainstream MetaTrader brokers.

Which AvaTrade alternative is best for TradingView?

TradingView connects directly to Pepperstone's Razor account.

Pepperstone currently states that its TradingView Razor pricing uses raw FX spreads from 0.0 points and a fixed TradingView commission equivalent to $7 round trip per standard FX lot.

IG also offers TradingView integration and is particularly compelling if broader market coverage matters more than the Razor pricing model.

Which AvaTrade alternative is best for stocks?

Interactive Brokers gives customers access to stocks and other assets across 170 global markets.

XTB currently offers more than 7,100 stocks from 16 major exchanges, with 0% stock and ETF commission within its published €100,000 monthly turnover threshold.

Which is better depends on the objective.

For a straightforward European retail investment portfolio, XTB is easier to make a case for.

For options, futures, international exchanges, professional APIs and a more sophisticated cross-asset portfolio, Interactive Brokers wins comfortably.

Which AvaTrade alternative is best for beginners?

The key distinction is what the beginner intends to become.

Someone who primarily wants to buy stocks and ETFs does not need to start inside a forex CFD platform.

Someone who wants to become an active FX trader does not necessarily benefit from choosing the prettiest investment app.

I'd map the platform to the eventual use case rather than award a generic "best for beginners" badge.

Which AvaTrade alternative is best for UK traders?

IG currently supports spread betting across thousands of markets and operates regulated UK entities under the Financial Conduct Authority.

Pepperstone is the stronger alternative for a UK trader specifically focused on raw-spread FX trading, MT4, MT5, cTrader or TradingView.

Interactive Brokers is stronger for global securities and futures investing.

The winner depends on whether the account is primarily for trading derivatives or owning investments.

Is AvaTrade still worth using?

AvaTrade remains regulated through multiple entities and currently supports forex, equity and ETF CFDs, commodities, cryptocurrencies, indices and FX options, subject to jurisdiction. It also provides MT4, MT5 and proprietary platforms.

Its standard initial deposit requirement of $100, €100, £100 or A$100 in eligible jurisdictions is also reasonably accessible.

AvaTrade continues to make sense for traders who specifically value:

  • AvaOptions
  • AvaTrade's proprietary applications
  • MT4 and MT5
  • social and copy-trading integrations
  • a relatively straightforward retail forex and CFD setup

The issue is not whether AvaTrade is "good".

The issue is whether another broker is better for the specific thing you actually do.

Why switch from AvaTrade?

There are five strong reasons to consider another broker.

You want lower active-trading costs

A raw-spread broker such as Pepperstone gives you a different cost model from a standard spread-only account.

For high trading volumes, that can be worth testing.

You want cTrader or TradingView

Pepperstone gives you both alongside MT4 and MT5.

You want broader market coverage

IG gives traders access to more than 15,000 markets. Interactive Brokers gives access to 170 global markets across multiple asset classes.

You want actual stocks and ETFs

Interactive Brokers and XTB are more natural homes for portfolios containing underlying securities rather than simply CFDs referencing them.

You want stronger copy trading

eToro's entire platform ecosystem is built much more heavily around social investing and CopyTrader.

How to compare AvaTrade alternatives properly

Do not choose your next broker from a generic review score.

The broker that is cheapest for someone trading EUR/USD 200 times per month can be completely wrong for someone making four ETF investments per year.

Compare these factors against your actual activity:

Factor What to measure
Forex costs Average spread during your trading hours + commission
CFD costs Spread + commission + overnight financing
Execution Slippage, rejected orders, fill quality
Platform MT4, MT5, cTrader, TradingView or proprietary
Investing Whether you own the underlying asset or a CFD
Market range Whether the actual instruments you need are available
Funding Deposit and withdrawal fees
Currency FX conversion charges
Regulation The entity that will legally hold your account
Automation EA, API and algorithm support
Holding period Overnight financing and inactivity costs
Tax wrapper Jurisdiction-specific products such as UK spread betting

The fastest useful broker test is not opening five demo accounts.

Take your previous 20 to 50 trades and calculate what they would actually have cost at each shortlisted broker.

For forex:

Total trading cost = spread cost + commission + financing + slippage

If Broker A advertises 0.0-pip spreads but your strategy pays more after commission and slippage than Broker B's 0.8-pip spread-only account, Broker A is not cheaper.

Your actual strategy decides the winner.

IG wins if I want market breadth, spread betting and specialist platforms.

AvaTrade remains interesting when its proprietary features, options offering or existing workflow are the thing keeping me there.

Are AvaTrade alternatives safer?

A global broker may operate separate companies in the UK, Europe, Australia, the Middle East and offshore jurisdictions.

For example, Pepperstone's group includes FCA and ASIC regulated entities, while eToro operates regulated UK, European and Australian entities.

The same brand can therefore provide different:

  • leverage limits
  • negative-balance protections
  • compensation arrangements
  • client-money rules
  • product access
  • dispute-resolution mechanisms

depending on where the account is opened.

Do not assess broker regulation by counting logos in the footer.

Identify the exact company named in the customer agreement.

That is your counterparty.

What is the closest alternative to AvaTrade?

It preserves most of what an active AvaTrade forex trader is likely to care about:

  • international forex and CFD trading
  • MT4
  • MT5
  • automated strategies
  • regulated entities in major jurisdictions

Then it adds cTrader, TradingView and a dedicated raw-spread Razor account.

That makes migration relatively logical.

Interactive Brokers is arguably the stronger overall brokerage business for sophisticated multi-asset users, but it solves a different problem.

Final verdict: what is the best AvaTrade alternative?

It is the cleanest direct replacement because it keeps MT4 and MT5 while adding cTrader, TradingView, raw-spread Razor pricing and a lower entry requirement. Its current August 2026 EUR/USD Razor data also gives active traders something concrete to test against AvaTrade rather than relying on theoretical minimum spreads.

But I would not blindly move every AvaTrade user to Pepperstone.

Choose IG if UK spread betting or very broad CFD market coverage is the priority.

Choose Interactive Brokers if you have outgrown CFD-only trading and want stocks, options, futures, currencies, bonds and funds in one global account.

Choose XTB if you want a simpler platform combining real stocks and ETFs with CFD trading, and you do not need MetaTrader.

Choose eToro if copy trading and social investing are the main reasons you use the platform.

And stay with AvaTrade if AvaOptions, its proprietary tools or your existing MetaTrader workflow already solve the problem without materially worse trading costs.

The useful question is not:

"Which broker has the highest review score?"

It is:

"Which broker is structurally best for the trades I actually place?"

For most active forex traders looking specifically for an AvaTrade replacement, my answer is Pepperstone.
