Which is the better fit?
Consider Bulenox
Bulenox is worth considering in 2026, particularly for futures traders who want flexible qualification rules and multiple routes to payouts. However, Bulenox is not a prop firm you should buy without reading the payout terms first. Its Master Account rules include consistency requirements, trading-day requirements and restrictions on behaviour Bulenox considers “flipping”.
Consider Topstep
Topstep is one of the better futures prop firms for disciplined intraday traders, particularly if you value an established operator, a relatively straightforward evaluation and a genuine route from simulated funding to a Live Funded Account. The main drawbacks are its Maximum Loss Limit, strict intraday-only trading, payout conditions and a TopstepX-centric platform setup.

Which should you fund?
Topstep is the better choice for most futures traders, mainly because its entry cost is lower, its progression from evaluation to Express Funded Account and eventually live capital is clearer, and its rules and infrastructure are easier to evaluate before paying. Bulenox is the better choice for traders who value platform flexibility, faster qualification options, multiple drawdown models and keeping 100% of their first $10,000 in payouts.
The choice is not simply about which firm advertises the biggest account. Bulenox and Topstep structure their programmes differently, particularly once you compare drawdown, payout eligibility and the route from simulated trading to actual funded capital.
Verdict: Topstep wins overall. Bulenox wins on flexibility.
Prop firm terms change frequently, so confirm the specific account rules before purchasing.

Topstep monthly evaluation cost
The Standard path adds a $149 activation fee once the account is earned; the other does not.
Bulenox currently offers three routes called Qualification, Momentum and Fast Track. Topstep uses its Trading Combine, followed by an Express Funded Account, with qualifying traders potentially progressing to a Live Funded Account.
Is Bulenox or Topstep Better?
Topstep's 50K Trading Combine currently costs $49 per month on the Standard path, with a $149 Express Funded Account activation fee after passing. Alternatively, the 50K No Activation Fee path costs $95 per month, but there is no activation charge after passing.
Bulenox's newer 50K Momentum account costs $143 as a one-time fee and has no separate Momentum Master activation fee. Its 50K Fast Track account costs $488 and skips the qualification stage entirely.
That means Topstep has the lower-cost way to test whether you can actually pass. Bulenox gives you more ways to structure the challenge.
Bulenox vs Topstep Pricing
Topstep's standard Trading Combine pricing is:
50K
- Standard
- $49/month
- No Activation Fee
- $95/month
100K
- Standard
- $99/month
- No Activation Fee
- $149/month
150K

- $199/month
- No Activation Fee
- $229/month
| Account | Standard | No Activation Fee |
|---|---|---|
| 50K | $49/month | $95/month |
| 100K | $99/month | $149/month |
| 150K | $199/month | $229/month |
The Standard path charges a $149 activation fee when an Express Funded Account is earned. The No Activation Fee path costs more each month but removes that fee.
Bulenox Momentum currently costs:
25K
- Momentum price
- $94
- Profit target
- $1,500
50K
- Momentum price
- $143
- Profit target
- $3,000
100K
- Momentum price
- $248
- Profit target
- $6,000
150K
- Momentum price
- $358
- Profit target
- $9,000
| Account | Momentum price | Profit target |
|---|---|---|
| 25K | $94 | $1,500 |
| 50K | $143 | $3,000 |
| 100K | $248 | $6,000 |
| 150K | $358 | $9,000 |
Bulenox states that one Momentum payment covers the qualification and Momentum Master stages, with no Master activation fee after passing.
There is therefore no useful answer to "which is cheaper?" based only on the monthly sticker price.
For a 50K account, Topstep's $49 Standard route appears extremely cheap, but a trader who passes immediately and activates an XFA has paid $198 before considering trading commissions. The $95 No Activation Fee route is cheaper for a fast pass.
Bulenox Momentum costs $143 for the comparable 50K size and removes a separate Master activation charge.
For a trader confident of passing quickly, Topstep's No Activation Fee route currently has the strongest 50K price.
Which Has Better Evaluation Rules?
Bulenox Qualification Accounts have no minimum or maximum number of trading days. A trader can theoretically hit the profit target and qualify in a single trading day, provided all other account requirements are met.
Topstep's Trading Combine requires the trader to hit the profit target while respecting its Maximum Loss Limit and consistency requirement. Topstep currently says the Trading Combine can be passed in as few as two trading days.
For the common account sizes, both firms use familiar profit targets:
50K
- Bulenox target
- $3,000
- Topstep target
- $3,000
100K
- Bulenox target
- $6,000
- Topstep target
- $6,000
150K
- Bulenox target
- $9,000
- Topstep target
- $9,000
| Account size | Bulenox target | Topstep target |
|---|---|---|
| 50K | $3,000 | $3,000 |
| 100K | $6,000 | $6,000 |
| 150K | $9,000 | $9,000 |
The headline targets therefore do not create much separation. The real difference is how much room you have to reach the target and how the drawdown follows you while doing it.
Bulenox vs Topstep Drawdown Rules
Bulenox offers:
Option 1: Trailing Drawdown
The loss threshold follows the highest account value, including unrealised open profit. The trader receives the full permitted contract size without a scaling plan.
Option 2: End-of-Day Drawdown
The drawdown threshold changes based on realised end-of-day results rather than following open profit tick by tick. This route also includes contract scaling and, on most account sizes, a Daily Loss Limit.
For a 50K Momentum account, Bulenox currently provides a $2,250 drawdown under either model. Option 1 allows up to seven minis, while Option 2 permits four minis and includes a $1,200 Daily Loss Limit.
Topstep's current Maximum Loss Limits are:
| Account | Maximum Loss Limit |
|---|---|
| 50K | $2,000 |
| 100K | $3,000 |
| 150K | $4,500 |
Topstep's Maximum Loss Limit trails upward based on the account's end-of-day balance and eventually locks at the starting balance. However, an actual breach is monitored using real-time P&L, including unrealised losses.
For a 50K trader specifically, Bulenox Momentum currently gives $250 more nominal drawdown than Topstep.
That 12.5% difference in drawdown room can matter more than a small difference in evaluation fees.
Topstep's Consistency Rule Needs Checking Before You Buy
Topstep currently has conflicting information across its own website.
The Trading Combine Help Center article was updated on 10 September 2026 and says the best trading day should stay below 55% of the profit target. The same page says a Combine can be passed in two days under that threshold.
However, other Topstep pages still display a 50% consistency target, including its commercial Trading Combine page.
That appears to be a live documentation transition rather than a difference traders should try to interpret themselves.
Before purchasing Topstep, check the rule shown inside the current Trading Combine checkout and dashboard. Do not rely on an older third-party comparison quoting 50%.
This is particularly important because many existing Bulenox vs Topstep comparisons have not yet caught the change.
Which Has Better Payouts?
Bulenox currently states that traders receive 100% of their first $10,000 in payouts, after which they keep up to 90% of profits. Bulenox also currently advertises daily payout requests for its Fast Track and Momentum products.
This is worth checking carefully because older reviews still describe Bulenox as operating a weekly Wednesday payout schedule. The firm's own current website has moved ahead of much of the comparison content ranking for this query.
Topstep currently uses a 90/10 split, meaning the trader keeps 90%. Its Express Funded Account has two main payout routes.
Topstep Standard XFA Payouts
A Topstep Standard Express Funded Account requires five non-consecutive winning days with at least $150 net profit per day.
The trader can request up to 50% of the eligible account balance, subject to account-size payout caps.
Current standard caps are:
- 50K XFA: $2,000
- 100K XFA: $3,000
- 150K XFA: $5,000
Topstep Consistency XFA Payouts
The Consistency path requires at least three trading days and a 40% consistency target.
Current payout caps are:
- 50K XFA: $3,000
- 100K XFA: $4,000
- 150K XFA: $6,000
Topstep's Live Funded Account removes the fixed XFA dollar payout caps. After accumulating 30 qualifying winning days in Live, traders can unlock daily payout access to their available unlocked balance.
The Important Difference
Bulenox gives the trader a more attractive initial profit split.
Topstep gives the trader a clearer long-term capital progression model.
Those are not the same thing.
Are Bulenox and Topstep Actually Giving You a Live Funded Account?
Passing Topstep's Trading Combine leads first to an Express Funded Account, which is simulated. Consistent performance can later result in Topstep moving the trader into a Live Funded Account using actual prop firm capital.
Bulenox follows a similar distinction. Traders can progress from Qualification to a Master Account, but Bulenox describes its separate Funded Account as the stage that provides access to actual live futures trading using company capital.
After three successful payouts on active Master Accounts, a Bulenox trader may be considered for a Funded Account. Bulenox explicitly states that this transition is discretionary and is not automatically guaranteed after the third payout.
This distinction matters because the "$50K funded account" advertised by a prop firm does not mean the trader receives $50,000 of withdrawable cash or immediately trades a brokerage account containing $50,000.
The practical risk allowance is better understood from the drawdown limit, not the headline account size.
Which Has Better Trading Platforms?
Bulenox currently advertises support for more than 20 futures trading platforms, including:
- R | Trader Pro
- NinjaTrader
- Quantower
- Sierra Chart
- MultiCharts
- ATAS
- Bookmap
- MotiveWave
- Optimus Flow
- VolFix
Bulenox uses Rithmic infrastructure and offers a free NinjaTrader connection, although certain third-party API or composite software connections can incur additional fees.
Topstep has invested heavily in TopstepX, its own futures trading platform. TopstepX combines execution, account controls, performance tracking and risk-management functionality within the same ecosystem.
For traders already committed to Bookmap, Sierra Chart, NinjaTrader or another specialist futures setup, Bulenox's flexibility is a genuine advantage.
For somebody who wants the account, risk controls, dashboard and execution environment tightly integrated, TopstepX is arguably cleaner.
What Can You Trade With Bulenox and Topstep?
Both companies focus on futures rather than forex CFDs.
Bulenox currently lists 41 futures contracts across CME, CBOT, NYMEX and COMEX, including equity indices such as ES and NQ, energy contracts such as CL, metals such as GC, currency futures and cryptocurrency futures including Micro Bitcoin and Micro Ether.
Topstep supports a broad range of CME Group futures, including equity index, currency, agricultural, energy, metal and cryptocurrency futures.
Topstep is specifically a day trading programme. Positions must normally be closed by 3:10 PM CT, with trading resuming at 5:00 PM CT.
Bulenox allows positions until 3:59 PM CT, but also prohibits overnight holding in its Qualification Account.
Is Bulenox Better Than Topstep for Fast Funding?
Bulenox Qualification has no minimum trading-day requirement and can theoretically be completed in one day.
Bulenox also offers Fast Track, which removes the qualification stage completely. Current Fast Track pricing starts at $338 for 25K and $488 for 50K. There is no activation fee or monthly subscription for Fast Track.
Topstep does not offer a directly comparable skip-the-evaluation route. Its Trading Combine can currently be passed in as few as two trading days.
So if the objective is purely minimum calendar time before reaching a payout-capable simulated account, Bulenox has more aggressive options.
That does not mean it is easier to remain profitable or reach actual live capital.
Is Topstep Better Than Bulenox for Beginners?
A new trader can start a 50K Standard Trading Combine for $49 rather than committing several hundred dollars upfront.
More importantly, beginners should not choose a prop firm based on maximum contract size.
A 50K account with five or seven available E-mini contracts does not mean trading five or seven contracts is sensible. The real constraint is the $2,000 to $2,250 loss allowance.
If you cannot trade profitably inside that risk budget, additional nominal buying power solves nothing.
Who Should Choose Bulenox?
Choose Bulenox over Topstep if most of these statements describe you:
- You want a choice between real-time trailing and end-of-day drawdown models.
- You want to use platforms such as NinjaTrader, Quantower, Sierra Chart or Bookmap.
- You want the ability to pass a Qualification Account without minimum trading days.
- You are interested in a Fast Track route that skips a conventional evaluation.
- Keeping 100% of your first $10,000 in payouts is important to you.
- The current Momentum or Fast Track payout structure suits your trading style.
- You already understand trailing drawdown mechanics and do not need Topstep's more structured environment.
Bulenox is the more configurable product.
Who Should Choose Topstep?
Choose Topstep over Bulenox if most of these statements describe you:
- You want the lowest-cost way to start testing a 50K evaluation.
- You want a simple 50K, 100K or 150K account structure.
- You prefer end-of-day trailing drawdown to real-time trailing drawdown.
- You want an integrated trading environment through TopstepX.
- You value a clearly documented progression from Trading Combine to XFA and potentially Live Funded Account.
- You care more about the long-term route to live capital than receiving 100% of the first $10,000.
- You want up to five active Express Funded Accounts while building a track record.
Topstep is the stronger all-round choice.
Bulenox vs Topstep: Final Verdict
Topstep's advantage is not that every individual rule is better. It isn't.
The advantage is the package: lower entry pricing, a straightforward evaluation structure, an integrated platform, clearly documented payout paths and a defined route toward trading actual live prop firm capital.
Bulenox is far from a weak alternative. In several areas it is objectively more flexible. Its multiple drawdown models, no-minimum-day Qualification, Fast Track product, broad platform support and 100% first-$10,000 payout split make Bulenox particularly attractive to experienced traders who already know exactly how they want to trade.
The decision therefore comes down to one distinction:
Choose Topstep if you want the strongest default package. Choose Bulenox if you want to customise the route around your trading style.
Whichever firm you choose, compare the drawdown and payout rules rather than the headline "$50K" or "$150K" account size. In futures prop trading, the loss allowance and withdrawal conditions determine the account's practical value far more than the advertised buying power.
