Which is the better fit?
Consider XM
XM is worth considering, particularly if accessibility, education and straightforward account options matter more to you than achieving the absolute lowest possible trading costs. Active forex traders should generally look at XM's Ultra Low account before its Standard account.
Consider Vantage
Vantage is competitive on trading costs, platforms and account choice, but we would verify the legal entity before depositing any money. For experienced forex and CFD traders, particularly those considering the Raw ECN account, Vantage deserves a shortlist position. Traders who prioritise maximum regulatory protection over leverage, promotions or offshore account flexibility should pay especially close attention to where their account is actually held.
XM is the better broker for most retail traders, while Vantage is the stronger choice for active traders who prioritise low raw-spread trading costs, TradingView integration and copy trading.
XM has a $5 minimum deposit, a strong education and research offering, a broad CFD range and multiple trading platforms. Vantage requires $50 for its main Standard and Raw ECN accounts, but its Raw ECN pricing and broader platform ecosystem make it particularly attractive for frequent forex and CFD traders.
Our overall winner: XM.
Choose XM if: you want a low minimum deposit, strong education, a straightforward commission-free account or a broader range of markets.
Choose Vantage if: you trade frequently, want a Raw ECN account, use TradingView or place a high value on copy trading.
Trading conditions and regulatory protections vary by country and by the legal entity holding your account, so traders should verify the conditions shown during registration rather than assuming every XM or Vantage customer receives identical terms.

Which is better, XM or Vantage?
This distinction matters because there is no useful way to compare brokers using a single headline spread.
A trader making a few positions per month will care less about shaving fractions of a pip from execution costs. A scalper or high-frequency forex trader can care a lot.
That is where the XM vs Vantage decision changes.
XM lowers the barrier to opening an account. Vantage gives cost-sensitive traders a more obvious route into raw-spread pricing.
XM vs Vantage fees and spreads
Vantage's Raw ECN account has a $50 minimum deposit, spreads advertised from 0.0 pips and commissions from $3 per standard lot per side. Its Standard STP account is commission-free, with the trading cost incorporated into the spread. Vantage currently advertises Standard pricing from roughly 1.0 to 1.1 pips, depending on the page and instrument.
Independent testing by ForexBrokers.com calculated an average all-in EUR/USD cost of approximately 0.72 pips on Vantage's Raw ECN account, based on a 0.12-pip average underlying spread plus the $6 round-turn commission.
XM's Standard and Ultra Low accounts can be opened with a minimum deposit of $5 on the international offering. XM describes Ultra Low as the lower-cost option for higher-volume trading.
In September 2026 testing, ForexBrokers.com recorded an average EUR/USD spread of 1.1 pips on XM Ultra Low, compared with 2.0 pips on XM Standard. XM Zero, where available, uses lower raw spreads with a $3.50 commission per side, equivalent to $7 per standard lot round turn.
That makes the practical decision fairly simple:
- Occasional trader: XM Ultra Low is easier to understand and requires very little capital to open.
- Frequent forex trader: Vantage Raw ECN is more compelling because lower all-in trading costs become more important as volume increases.
- High-volume trader: compare Vantage Raw/Pro pricing with the XM account actually available under your regulatory entity rather than relying on headline spreads.
Minimum advertised spreads are not the same as the spread you will receive on every trade. Spreads are variable and can widen during illiquid periods and major market events.
A simple cost example
Suppose two traders each make 100 standard-lot round-turn forex trades.
A difference of just 0.3 pips in average all-in cost represents roughly $300 across those 100 trades on a currency pair where one pip is worth about $10 per standard lot.
That is why a 0.2 or 0.3-pip advantage is largely irrelevant to a beginner placing tiny positions, but commercially meaningful to a high-volume trader.
The cheapest broker therefore depends partly on trading volume, not simply the number printed beside "spread from".
XM vs Vantage minimum deposit
The difference is useful for traders who want to test the broker with limited capital before committing a larger balance.
It should not be confused with risk management. Being allowed to open a leveraged trading account with $5 does not mean $5 is sufficient capital for a sensible trading strategy.
The minimum deposit measures accessibility, not account quality.
XM vs Vantage trading platforms
Both XM and Vantage support MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5.
Vantage additionally provides its Vantage App, web trading platform, TradingView integration and dedicated copy-trading functionality. Its TradingView support is particularly useful for traders who want to analyse and trade through the TradingView environment rather than simply use TradingView-powered charts.
XM offers MT4, MT5, its proprietary web trading platform and the XM mobile app. XM's proprietary platforms use TradingView charting technology, but XM does not offer TradingView as a standalone integrated trading platform in the same way Vantage does.
Which broker is better for MetaTrader?
There is no major reason to choose XM over Vantage purely because you want MT4 or MT5. Both support the core MetaTrader ecosystem and Expert Advisors.
Vantage becomes more attractive for traders who want additional platform integrations around MetaTrader.
Which broker is better for TradingView?
Vantage provides direct TradingView integration, while XM uses TradingView technology within its proprietary web and mobile interfaces rather than offering the full standalone TradingView trading route.
XM vs Vantage for copy trading
Vantage operates a dedicated copy-trading system that lets users select signal providers and automatically replicate eligible trades. Users can access the service through Vantage's own platform alongside its broader MetaTrader ecosystem.
XM also provides copy trading under certain international entities, but availability is not consistent across the group. For example, ForexBrokers.com's 2026 testing found that copy trading was unavailable through XM's EU entity while being offered through some international XM entities.
If copy trading is one of the main reasons you are choosing a broker, Vantage is therefore the cleaner choice.
Past performance from a signal provider does not guarantee future performance, and copying another trader does not remove trading risk.
Is XM or Vantage safer?
A broker group can contain multiple companies under different regulators. The protection attached to an FCA-regulated account, for example, is not automatically the same protection attached to an offshore entity using the same brand.
Vantage explicitly states that its international website is separate from Vantage Global Prime LLP in the United Kingdom, which is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The Vantage group also includes entities regulated by authorities including ASIC in Australia and the FSCA in South Africa, alongside international entities in other jurisdictions.
The international XM website currently identifies XM Global Limited as regulated by the Financial Services Commission of Belize. Other Trading Point entities operate under different regulatory frameworks, including a CySEC-regulated European entity.
ForexBrokers.com's September 2026 regulatory assessment gave XM Group a proprietary Trust Score of 93/99 and Vantage 91/99. Those scores are useful as one independent comparison, but they should not replace checking the actual licence covering your account.
Before depositing with either broker, confirm:
- The legal company named in the client agreement.
- The regulator supervising that company.
- The licence number.
- Whether client funds are segregated.
- What negative balance or compensation protections apply.
- Whether those protections cover your country and account classification.
That check matters more than the number of regulatory logos shown on a broker's global homepage.
XM vs Vantage leverage
XM Global currently advertises leverage of up to 1000:1 on eligible accounts and instruments.
Vantage's standard account range commonly offers leverage up to 500:1 in eligible international jurisdictions, while leverage can differ across account types and regulatory entities.
European, UK, Australian and other regulated markets may impose considerably lower limits for retail clients.
If two brokers offer enough leverage to execute your strategy, choosing the one offering the largest possible number has little practical value. Higher leverage increases the amount of market exposure that can be controlled with the same margin and therefore increases the speed at which losses can accumulate.
Which broker offers more markets?
ForexBrokers.com's September 2026 XM audit counted 1,583 tradeable symbols, including forex, stock CFDs, indices, ETFs, commodities and other CFDs. The same research provider counted 1,028 instruments at Vantage in August 2026.
Vantage itself advertises access to more than 1,000 instruments across multiple asset classes.
Raw instrument counts are less important if both brokers offer everything you actually trade. A trader focused entirely on EUR/USD, GBP/USD and gold gains nothing from having another 500 obscure instruments available.
XM's broader range matters more to traders who want to trade several asset classes from one account.
Which is better for beginners, XM or Vantage?
XM is better for most beginners.
The $5 minimum deposit substantially lowers the cost of testing a live account, while XM has invested heavily in education, research and live trading content.
ForexBrokers.com's 2026 testing gave XM top marks in its research and education categories and highlighted its live trading rooms and structured educational material. Vantage's research and education have improved, but the same review found they still trail the strongest providers in the category.
A beginner who mainly wants to learn the platform, understand order execution and start with limited capital will therefore generally get more value from XM.
Vantage is still beginner-accessible, but many of its clearest advantages become more valuable once trading frequency increases.
Which is better for scalping and active trading?
The Raw ECN account combines spreads from 0.0 pips with a $3-per-side standard-lot commission and only a $50 minimum deposit. Vantage also provides MT4, MT5 and TradingView integration, making the overall setup more attractive to traders who care about execution costs and platform flexibility.
XM can still be competitive through its Ultra Low or Zero accounts, depending on jurisdiction, but Vantage's proposition is more clearly built around frequent and algorithmic traders.

XM or Vantage: final verdict
XM wins our overall comparison because its $5 minimum deposit, broader market range and stronger education make it suitable for a wider group of traders.
Vantage does not lose on quality. It is simply more specialised. For an active forex trader making enough volume for transaction costs to matter, I would reverse the verdict and choose Vantage Raw ECN over XM's standard retail setup.
The decision can therefore be reduced to one question:
Are you optimising for accessibility and overall usability, or for frequent-trading costs and platform flexibility?
For the first, choose XM.
For the second, choose Vantage.
Is XM better than Vantage?
XM is better for most beginners and general retail traders because it has a $5 minimum deposit, strong educational resources and a broad range of markets. Vantage is better for many active traders because its Raw ECN account combines tight spreads with competitive commissions and broader platform integration.
Does XM or Vantage have lower spreads?
Vantage generally has the stronger proposition for traders seeking raw-spread pricing. Its Raw ECN account advertises spreads from 0.0 pips plus a commission from $3 per side. XM also offers competitive low-spread accounts, including Ultra Low and, in some jurisdictions, Zero, so the exact comparison depends on the account available to you.
Is Vantage or XM better for TradingView?
Vantage is better for TradingView because it provides direct TradingView integration. XM incorporates TradingView-powered charting into its proprietary platforms but does not offer the same standalone TradingView trading integration.
Is XM or Vantage better for a small account?
XM is better for traders starting with very little capital because its main international Standard and Ultra Low accounts require a minimum deposit of only $5. Vantage's Standard STP and Raw ECN accounts generally start from $50.
Risk warning: Forex and CFD trading involves substantial risk, particularly when leverage is used. Broker features, products, leverage limits and regulatory protections can vary by country and legal entity. Verify the terms applying to your account before depositing or trading.
