Which is the better fit?

Consider Vantage

Vantage is competitive on trading costs, platforms and account choice, but we would verify the legal entity before depositing any money. For experienced forex and CFD traders, particularly those considering the Raw ECN account, Vantage deserves a shortlist position. Traders who prioritise maximum regulatory protection over leverage, promotions or offshore account flexibility should pay especially close attention to where their account is actually held.

Consider XTB

XTB is worth considering for self-directed investors, ETF investors and traders who are happy using XTB's proprietary xStation platform. It is less compelling for investors who frequently buy foreign-currency assets, professional traders who depend on MetaTrader or APIs, or anyone who needs the product breadth of a full-service broker such as Interactive Brokers.

XTB is the better overall choice for most investors in 2026, while Vantage is the better choice for active forex and CFD traders who specifically want MetaTrader, Raw ECN pricing, TradingView integration or copy trading.

The biggest difference between Vantage and XTB is what each broker is built for.

XTB combines leveraged CFD trading with access to real stocks and ETFs in supported markets. It also offers its proprietary xStation platform and investment tools designed for longer-term portfolios. Vantage is much more trading-focused, with MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, TradingView, Raw ECN accounts and an integrated copy trading ecosystem.

Choose XTB if you mainly want to invest in stocks and ETFs, build a long-term portfolio or use one simple investing and trading platform.

Choose Vantage if you mainly trade forex or CFDs and want MT4, MT5, Expert Advisors, TradingView or Raw ECN pricing.

CFDs are leveraged products and carry a high risk of loss. The products, leverage limits, investor protections and legal entity available to you depend on your country of residence.

Vantage states that its international Standard STP and Raw ECN accounts require a $50 minimum deposit. XTB states that it does not impose a minimum initial deposit. Exact conditions can differ between jurisdictions.

Is XTB or Vantage better?

If you want to buy shares or ETFs and hold them for years, XTB has the clear advantage. XTB offers cash stocks as well as stock CFDs in supported jurisdictions, while its Investment Plans product is designed around portfolios of stocks and ETFs.

Vantage becomes more attractive when the requirement changes from investing to active trading. Its platform stack includes MT4, MT5 and TradingView, and its Raw ECN account offers spreads advertised from 0.0 pips with commission charged separately.

There is therefore no contradiction in calling XTB the overall winner while recommending Vantage to certain traders. They solve different problems.

XTB vs Vantage for regulation and safety

XTB Group operates through different entities depending on a client's residence. For example, XTB Limited is authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority in the UK, while other XTB entities operate under regulators including CySEC. XTB explicitly states that the entity opening your account depends on your country.

Vantage also operates through multiple regulated entities. Vantage Global Prime Pty Ltd is regulated by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission under AFSL 428901, while Vantage's international website identifies entities regulated in jurisdictions including Vanuatu and South Africa. Vantage also operates a separate FCA-regulated UK business.

This distinction matters.

A trader should not simply ask, "Is Vantage regulated?" or "Is XTB regulated?" The more useful question is:

Which legal entity will hold my account, which regulator supervises that entity, and which investor protections apply to me?

Vantage's international website, for example, explicitly warns users that opening an account through Vantage Global Limited means being regulated by the VFSC rather than the FCA, with different protections.

For UK or EU investors in particular, compare the specific locally available entities rather than assuming protections shown on another regional version of either broker's website apply to you.

Regulation verdict: XTB wins narrowly, primarily because its listed-company status adds another layer of financial reporting and corporate transparency. The actual regulatory protection comparison still depends on the entity available in your country.

Vantage vs XTB fees: which broker is cheaper?

Vantage trading fees

Vantage's Raw ECN account advertises forex spreads from 0.0 pips and charges $3 per standard lot per side, equivalent to $6 for opening and closing one standard lot.

Its Standard STP account instead incorporates the trading cost into the spread and does not charge a separate forex trading commission.

That distinction matters because a "0.0 pip spread" does not mean a trade is free.

For example, assuming one standard EUR/USD lot has a pip value of approximately $10, a $6 round-turn commission is equivalent to roughly 0.6 pips of transaction cost before any non-zero spread is added.

So the useful number to compare between brokers is not the advertised minimum spread. It is:

all-in trading cost = spread + commission + overnight financing + currency conversion + any other applicable fees

This is especially important when comparing a commission-based Raw account with a spread-only account.

XTB trading and investing fees

XTB currently advertises 0% commission on stocks and ETFs up to €100,000 of monthly turnover in supported markets. Once that threshold is exceeded, a 0.2% commission applies with a minimum charge determined by the relevant account or jurisdiction.

A 0.5% currency conversion cost can also apply when an asset is denominated in a different currency from the account.

XTB also states that there is no minimum initial deposit, although investors still need enough capital to satisfy the minimum transaction size or margin requirement for the instrument they want to trade.

Fee verdict

Vantage deserves closer consideration for high-frequency forex and CFD trading, particularly where Raw ECN execution and commission-based pricing are desirable.

Do not choose between Vantage and XTB based on a single advertised spread. Compare the exact instruments you intend to trade during the hours you normally trade them.

Vantage vs XTB trading platforms

Vantage platforms

Vantage supports:

  • MetaTrader 4
  • MetaTrader 5
  • TradingView integration
  • Vantage mobile app
  • Copy trading

MetaTrader support is the biggest differentiator.

MT4 and MT5 support Expert Advisors, custom indicators and automated trading strategies. Vantage's MT5 implementation supports Expert Advisors and additional multi-asset functionality, while Vantage accounts can also be connected directly to TradingView for chart-based execution.

If you already run an EA, custom MetaTrader setup or algorithmic forex strategy, Vantage is the obvious choice between these two brokers.

XTB platform

XTB's proposition centres on xStation, its proprietary investing and trading platform.

XTB has moved away from MetaTrader for new-account acquisition in key markets. XTB UK removed MT4 from its offer in March 2024, while XTB's Polish material states that new accounts use xStation rather than MT4.

That is a negative if you rely on the MetaTrader ecosystem.

It is much less important if you simply want a single platform for manually buying stocks, ETFs or trading CFDs.

Platform verdict: Vantage for advanced trading flexibility. XTB for an integrated investing experience.

Which is better for stocks and ETFs?

XTB offers cash stocks as well as stock CFDs in supported markets. Its English help centre currently lists more than 7,100 stocks across 16 major exchanges. XTB also offers Investment Plans that can automate portfolio contributions and allocate money across eligible stocks and ETFs.

Vantage's international stock offering is centred on share CFDs. A share CFD provides exposure to the price movement of a company without giving the trader ownership of the underlying share.

That is a fundamental product difference, not a minor feature comparison.

If your objective is:

  • owning shares
  • building an ETF portfolio
  • passive investing
  • recurring long-term contributions
  • holding investments without leveraged CFD exposure

choose XTB.

If your objective is short-term speculation on whether a stock will rise or fall, Vantage's share CFDs may still suit your strategy.

Which is better for forex trading?

Vantage offers Standard STP and Raw ECN account structures, MT4, MT5 and TradingView integration. The Raw ECN account advertises spreads from 0.0 pips with a $3-per-lot-per-side USD commission.

XTB also offers leveraged forex CFDs, so it remains perfectly viable for manual currency trading.

The difference is the surrounding infrastructure.

A trader who needs Expert Advisors, MetaTrader indicators or an existing MT4/MT5 workflow has a clear reason to choose Vantage. A trader who occasionally trades EUR/USD alongside stocks and ETFs has much less reason to leave XTB.

Forex verdict: Vantage.

Which is better for algorithmic trading?

This is one of the clearest decisions in the entire comparison.

If your system depends on MQL4, MQL5, Expert Advisors or MetaTrader-specific tools, XTB's xStation-first platform strategy does not provide an equivalent migration path.

For systematic traders, platform compatibility is usually more important than a small difference in advertised spreads.

Algorithmic trading verdict: Vantage.

Which is better for copy trading?

Vantage operates an integrated copy trading environment in which users can follow signal providers and automatically mirror eligible trades. Signal providers can also publish strategies through the Vantage ecosystem.

Copy trading should not be confused with passive investing. The copied positions can still use leveraged instruments, and following another trader does not remove market risk.

XTB's investment automation is aimed much more towards portfolio construction and recurring investment than copying speculative traders.

Copy trading verdict: Vantage.

Which is better for long-term investing?

XTB's combination of real stocks, ETFs, fractional investing in supported markets and Investment Plans makes it structurally better suited to building a portfolio over years rather than trading short-term price movements.

XTB Investment Plans can use stocks and ETFs, support automated recurring contributions and start from relatively small investment amounts. The UK product page currently advertises access within Investment Plans to more than 3,400 stocks and 1,800 ETFs.

Vantage's main proposition is leveraged CFD trading. CFDs can be useful trading instruments, but they are not a substitute for directly owning a diversified investment portfolio.

Long-term investing verdict: XTB.

Is Vantage or XTB better for beginners?

The absence of a minimum initial deposit also lowers the technical barrier to opening an XTB account.

That does not mean beginners should invest money they cannot afford to lose, nor does it make every product on XTB low risk. XTB also offers leveraged CFDs.

Vantage may make more sense for a beginner whose specific objective is to learn forex trading on MetaTrader, particularly using a demo environment before risking real capital.

The broker should therefore follow the strategy, not the other way around.

Who should choose Vantage?

Choose Vantage over XTB if most of these statements describe you:

  • You primarily trade forex or CFDs.
  • You need MetaTrader 4 or MetaTrader 5.
  • You run Expert Advisors or automated strategies.
  • You want TradingView broker integration.
  • You prefer a Raw ECN commission model.
  • Copy trading is important to you.
  • Direct ownership of stocks and ETFs is not a priority.

For that trader, Vantage's specialist trading toolkit matters more than XTB's broader investment offering.

Who should choose XTB?

Choose XTB over Vantage if most of these statements describe you:

  • You want to buy and own stocks or ETFs.
  • You are building a long-term investment portfolio.
  • You want stocks, ETFs and CFDs under one provider.
  • You do not need MT4 or MT5.
  • You prefer XTB's xStation ecosystem.
  • You want automated portfolio contributions through Investment Plans.
  • A publicly listed broker with additional corporate reporting transparency appeals to you.

For that investor, XTB is the stronger overall proposition.

Vantage vs XTB: final verdict

The decision is straightforward once you separate investing from trading.

Choose XTB for stocks, ETFs and long-term investing.

Choose Vantage for MT4, MT5, forex, Raw ECN pricing, algorithmic trading and copy trading.

I would not let the $50 Vantage minimum deposit versus XTB's lack of a minimum deposit decide this comparison. Platform compatibility and whether you want to own assets or trade CFDs on them are far more important differences.

Before opening either account, check the broker's website for your country and confirm the exact regulated entity, investor protections, fees and products that will apply to you. Vantage and XTB both operate different entities in different jurisdictions, so terms displayed on an international, UK, EU or Australian website are not automatically interchangeable.

Is XTB better than Vantage?

Is Vantage cheaper than XTB?

Vantage is not automatically cheaper than XTB. Vantage Raw ECN forex accounts advertise spreads from 0.0 pips but charge commission, while XTB offers commission-free stock and ETF investing up to a defined monthly turnover threshold. The cheaper broker depends on the product, position size, holding period and currency conversion requirements.

Does XTB offer MT4 or MT5?

XTB's current new-account proposition centres on xStation rather than MetaTrader. XTB UK removed MT4 from its offer in March 2024. Traders who require MT4 or MT5 should generally choose Vantage instead.

Can you buy real stocks with Vantage?

The Vantage international product pages reviewed for this comparison offer stock exposure through CFDs, meaning the trader does not own the underlying shares. XTB offers cash stocks as well as stock CFDs in supported markets. Product availability should still be verified with the broker entity serving your country.

Is Vantage or XTB better for forex?

Vantage is better suited to dedicated forex traders who need MT4, MT5, Expert Advisors or Raw ECN pricing. XTB also offers forex CFDs, but its platform proposition is built around xStation rather than the MetaTrader ecosystem.

Broker fees, instruments, leverage, promotions and regulatory arrangements can change and may vary by jurisdiction.
