The difference between a triangle and a wedge is the slope of the trendlines: triangles have one flat or oppositely-sloped trendline, while wedges have both lines sloping in the same direction.
Triangles signal consolidation before a breakout that can go either way (ascending, descending, or symmetrical), and volume often rises into the apex.
Wedges signal a reversal, with volume declining as the pattern matures and weakening momentum giving way to a sharp move against the slope.
Triangle breakouts more often continue the prior trend; wedge breakouts flip it.
What is the difference between a triangle and a wedge?
