Which is the better fit?
Consider Moomoo
Moomoo is strongest for self-directed traders who want better market data and analysis than most commission-free apps provide without paying for a professional terminal.
Consider Webull
Choose Webull if you actively trade stocks or options and want serious trading tools without paying a commission on every trade. Choose Fidelity or another full-service brokerage if your priority is long-term portfolio building, broad mutual-fund access and stronger research and support.
Webull is the better overall choice for most US investors and traders. It offers a broader range of accounts and investments, including Traditional, Roth and Rollover IRAs, joint and custodial accounts, futures, crypto, fixed income and advisory services, while still providing commission-free US stock, ETF and equity options trading.
Moomoo is better for active stock and options traders who care more about market data and analysis than account variety. Moomoo offers deeper built-in market-depth data, more than 100 technical indicators and a standard US stock margin rate of 6.8%.
The simplest decision is this:
- Choose Webull if you want one brokerage for active trading, retirement investing and a wider range of asset classes.
- Choose Moomoo if you mainly trade stocks and options and want richer Level 2 market data and research tools without paying separately for basic market depth.
- Choose Webull Premium over either platform's standard pricing if you regularly borrow on margin and its current lower premium margin rates outweigh the subscription cost.
This comparison covers US accounts offered through Moomoo Financial Inc. and Webull Financial LLC. Features, investments and fees can differ significantly in other countries.

Both Moomoo Financial Inc. and Webull Financial LLC advertise $0 commissions on eligible US stocks and ETFs and $0 contract fees on equity options. Regulatory, exchange and certain index-option fees can still apply.
Why Webull wins overall
Webull supports individual cash and margin accounts, Traditional, Roth and Rollover IRAs, joint accounts, custodial accounts, futures accounts, crypto accounts, entity accounts and advisory accounts. Moomoo Financial Inc. currently limits US brokerage customers to individual cash and margin accounts and specifically states that it does not offer IRAs or joint accounts.
That difference matters more than another ten indicators or a prettier options chain.
Someone who starts by trading individual stocks may later want to:
- open a Roth IRA;
- roll over an old workplace retirement account;
- trade futures;
- hold an account jointly;
- open a custodial account;
- use managed investing alongside self-directed trading.
Webull can accommodate those use cases within the same broader ecosystem. Moomoo is much more concentrated around self-directed active trading.
For a new user who does not yet know exactly how their investing needs will develop, Webull therefore has the higher ceiling as an all-round brokerage platform.
Moomoo is better for market data and research
Moomoo provides free Level 2 data to qualifying Moomoo Financial Inc. accounts with a minimum 30-day average account value of $100. Its current Level 2 offering includes six order books, including Nasdaq TotalView, NYSE ArcaBook, NYSE OpenBook and Cboe feeds, with up to 60 bid and ask price levels.
Webull gives new users one month of Nasdaq TotalView for free. After that, Nasdaq TotalView currently costs $2.99 per month by itself or is included with Webull Premium, which costs $3.99 per month or $40 per year.
The difference is not merely "both have Level 2".
For an active equity trader, Moomoo provides broader market-depth visibility with a relatively low balance requirement. Webull treats deeper real-time market data more explicitly as a subscription benefit.
Moomoo also currently advertises more than 100 technical indicators. Webull advertises more than 60 indicators and more than 20 drawing tools.
That gives Moomoo the edge for research-heavy traders, technical analysis and order-book analysis.

| Equity options contract fee | $0 | $0 |
| Outgoing ACATS transfer | $75 | $75 |
| Standard US stock margin rate | 6.8% | 8.74% |
Moomoo's current fee schedule lists a 6.8% annual rate for long margin on US stocks. Webull currently publishes a flat 8.74% standard margin rate.
On standard accounts alone, Moomoo is clearly cheaper for borrowing on margin.
There is an important catch.
Webull Premium currently reduces the rate on margin balances below $25,000 to 5.20%, with progressively lower rates for larger balances. Webull Premium costs $40 per year when paid annually.
That creates a useful break-even point competitors often miss.
The difference between Moomoo's 6.8% and Webull Premium's 5.2% is 1.6 percentage points. A trader carrying an average margin debit of about $2,500 would save roughly $40 per year from that rate difference:
$2,500 × 1.6% = $40
At the currently published annual Premium price, that approximately covers the Webull subscription before counting any other Premium benefits.
So the margin verdict is:
Moomoo wins against standard Webull. Webull Premium can become cheaper once you regularly borrow more than roughly $2,500 on margin, assuming today's rates and $40 annual subscription remain unchanged.
Margin rates can change, so this calculation should be refreshed whenever the page is updated.
Which is better for day trading: Moomoo or Webull?
Moomoo's advantage is information. Eligible accounts can access multiple Level 2 order books with up to 60 bid and ask levels, alongside more than 100 technical indicators.
Webull's desktop platform has a different strength. It includes tools such as a price ladder, hotkeys, chart trading, TurboTrader and order-flow functionality. Webull also advertises more than 15 order types on its stock trading platform.
That makes the distinction straightforward:
Moomoo is better for analysing the market. Webull is arguably better for building a customised execution workstation.
Both platforms support overnight trading in eligible US securities, although liquidity, spreads and execution quality can be materially worse outside regular market hours.
Which is better for options trading?
Moomoo advertises 13 options strategies and provides tools including strategy building, profit-and-loss simulation, Greeks, expected-move analysis, implied-volatility analysis and unusual activity data.
Webull supports single-leg and multi-leg options strategies, spreads and straddles, unusual options activity, options screening, real-time OPRA quotes and options paper trading.
Both currently charge $0 commissions and $0 contract fees for eligible equity options trades, although regulatory, exchange and index-option fees may apply.
Moomoo therefore wins for the trader asking, "Which platform gives me more information for analysing an options position?"
Webull wins if the question becomes, "Which brokerage gives me strong options trading alongside IRAs, futures and a broader account ecosystem?"
Which is better for long-term investing?
The biggest reason is account structure.
Webull offers Traditional, Roth and Rollover IRAs. Moomoo Financial Inc. currently does not offer an IRA.
Webull also supports recurring investments, fixed-income products, money market funds and Webull Advisors. Those features make it easier to use the brokerage for portfolio building rather than exclusively active trading.
Moomoo does support fractional shares, dividend reinvestment and cash sweep features, so it is perfectly capable of holding long-term investments. But if the primary objective is retirement saving or diversified long-term portfolio management, there is little reason to choose Moomoo over Webull based on the current US product line-up.
Moomoo vs Webull for futures and crypto
Webull wins for product breadth.
Webull offers US futures trading through Webull Futures LLC, including equity-index, metals, energy, agricultural, currency and crypto-related futures contracts.
Moomoo provides futures paper trading, but its current documentation says live futures trading is not supported through Moomoo US accounts.
Webull also currently advertises more than 70 cryptocurrencies on its US crypto platform. Moomoo offers US cryptocurrency trading through Moomoo Crypto Inc., but availability varies by state.
If futures or a wider crypto catalogue matter to you, Webull is the stronger choice.
Is Moomoo or Webull safer?
Moomoo Financial Inc. is an SEC-registered broker-dealer and member of FINRA and SIPC. Its US clearing and custody services are provided by Futu Clearing Inc., which is also registered with the SEC and belongs to FINRA and SIPC.
Webull Financial LLC is an SEC-registered broker-dealer and member of FINRA and SIPC. Webull also advertises excess SIPC coverage under certain clearing arrangements.
Standard SIPC protection covers securities and cash at a failed SIPC-member brokerage up to $500,000, including a $250,000 limit for cash. SIPC does not protect you against investment losses or falling market prices.
For the average investor with assets comfortably below the standard protection limits, platform suitability, fees and functionality are more useful differentiators than trying to declare one broker categorically "safer".
Cryptocurrency and futures products can also fall under different entities and protections, so do not assume every product inside either app receives standard securities-account SIPC protection.
Moomoo or Webull for beginners?
Webull has a broader pathway from a straightforward brokerage account into recurring investments, retirement accounts, advisory portfolios and more advanced trading products. Its mobile app also includes a simplified Webull Lite mode alongside the full interface.
Moomoo is not unsuitable for beginners, and its paper-trading environment is particularly useful. However, its dense market data, indicators, options analytics and trading tools are more valuable once a user understands what those tools are actually showing.
A beginner primarily interested in learning active trading could still reasonably choose Moomoo. A beginner who simply wants the most flexible account for the next several years should choose Webull.
When should you choose Moomoo instead of Webull?
Choose Moomoo when your priority order looks like this:
market data → stock/options research → technical analysis → active trading → low standard margin cost
Moomoo makes the most sense for traders who spend significant time analysing order books, charts, options data and individual securities and do not need retirement, joint or custodial accounts.
Its strongest advantages are free qualifying Level 2 access, deeper order-book coverage, more than 100 technical indicators and a 6.8% published standard margin rate for US stocks.
When should you choose Webull instead of Moomoo?
Choose Webull when your priority order looks more like this:
one brokerage → multiple account types → active trading → retirement investing → futures/crypto → advanced execution
Webull is particularly compelling if you need an IRA, joint or custodial account, want live futures trading, or expect your investment activity to expand beyond stocks and options.
Webull Premium also changes the economics for heavier users because its $40 annual subscription currently combines Level 2 data, lower margin rates and additional account benefits.
Moomoo vs Webull: final verdict
The two brokers are much closer if you compare only stock commissions and charting. Once you compare the entire brokerage relationship, Webull pulls ahead.
Webull supports far more account types, retirement investing, live futures, a broader current crypto offering and advanced trading tools while retaining commission-free US stock, ETF and equity options trading.
Moomoo remains the better specialist platform for data-heavy stock and options traders. Its Level 2 offering, technical-analysis depth and cheaper standard margin rate are genuine advantages rather than cosmetic differences.
The final decision is therefore:
| Your priority | Better choice |
|---|---|
| Best brokerage overall | Webull |
| Long-term investing | Webull |
| Roth or Traditional IRA | Webull |
| Futures trading | Webull |
| Broader crypto access | Webull |
| Market-depth data | Moomoo |
| Technical-analysis depth | Moomoo |
| Standard margin pricing | Moomoo |
| Margin with paid subscription | Webull Premium |
| Options research | Moomoo, narrowly |
| Paper trading | Either |
| Active stock day trading | Moomoo for data, Webull for execution workflow |
For most people choosing a single brokerage today, I'd open Webull. For someone who already has retirement and long-term investing elsewhere and specifically wants a data-rich active-trading platform, I'd choose Moomoo.
Frequently asked questions
Is Moomoo better than Webull?
Moomoo is better than Webull for traders who prioritise Level 2 market data, technical indicators and stock or options research. Webull is the better overall brokerage because it offers more account types and investment products, including IRAs, joint accounts and futures.
Does Moomoo have lower fees than Webull?
Moomoo and Webull both offer $0 commissions on eligible US stocks and ETFs and $0 contract fees on equity options. Moomoo's current standard margin rate is lower at 6.8% versus Webull's 8.74%, although Webull Premium currently offers lower margin rates starting at 5.20%.
Does Moomoo or Webull have better Level 2 data?
Moomoo offers the stronger standard Level 2 proposition. Qualifying Moomoo accounts with a minimum $100 30-day average account value can receive Level 2 access covering six order books and up to 60 bid and ask price levels. Webull offers one month of Nasdaq TotalView free, followed by a $2.99 monthly standalone subscription or inclusion with Webull Premium.
Can I have both Moomoo and Webull?
Yes. There is no requirement to use only one brokerage. An investor could, for example, use Webull for an IRA and broader investment products while using Moomoo for active stock trading and market-depth analysis. Maintaining multiple brokerages does add administrative and tax-reporting complexity, so there should be a specific reason for doing it.
Brokerage features, fees, margin rates, market-data subscriptions and promotions change. This comparison was verified against US product information available in September 2026. Investing and margin trading involve risk, and this comparison is not personalised investment advice.
